I hope that you all have enjoyed this beautiful Easter Sunday. He is risen! I wanted to end the month of March in sharing a few of my favorite photos from the month. Celebrated my favorite grandsons birthday. Conner is 18 now! Our beautiful Mallory Grace all decked out for the prom. The youngest grands (sisters) were flower girls in their uncle's wedding. The oldest one was in her element of dress up. The younger one, not so much. THAT HAIR BAND ITCHED HER HEAD she said! I purchased a new pair of wedges that I love. I am always skeptical about ordering shoes or clothing but read the reviews on Amazon and went for it. Love the color and the style. The youngest grand loves to take selfies and play with the filters. Marty colored Easter eggs. He always colors at least a dozen every year. He always says he's doing it for the grands but I know he does it because of the inner child in him! LOL! I went with the little ones to Disney on Ice and we had the best time. I think I enjo
This year I decided to do SIMPLE for Valentine's day with my decorating. To be honest I have been working on doing a total makeover on my living room so Valentine Decor seemed to sorta on the low end of my to do list this year.
However, can't let a holiday go by without doing a little something right?
Thought I would share a few fun facts and maybe interesting ones about Valentine's Day.
Roses are the flowers of love. The favorite flower of Venus, the Roman goddess of love? The red rose, of course. The bud stands for strong romantic feelings, so it’s no surprise they make up the most popular Valentine’s Day bouquets.
The chocolate boxed candy has been around for more than 140 years. The first Valentine's Day box of chocolates was introduced by Richard Cadbury in 1868.
Aren't these just the cutest salt and pepper shakers?
Husbands and boyfriends like to give bouquets. Men account for 73 percent of Valentine's Day flower sales. The largest sale of flowers is for Valentine's Day. The price almost doubles in some areas.
I love my little red shoe. A sweet friend that went home to be the Lord several years ago gave that to me.
Valentine's Day is not the most popular holiday for greeting cards. According to the Greeting Card Association, 190 million Valentine's Day cards are exchanged annually, making Valentine's Day the second most popular greeting card–giving occasion, after Christmas.
More than 35 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolate will be sold for Valentine's Day.
And just for the record, one of my grands decided she needed to move my silverware around to where she wanted it to be....I left it as is! LOL!(learning not to sweat the small things)
Based on retail statistics, about 3 per cent of pet owners will give Valentine’s Day gifts to their pets.
Love my hanging hearts. Christmas ornaments I found a few years ago after Christmas on sale.
#1 candle that sells for Valentine's day is the Yankee candle and of course the color is red and the candle is scented.
These aren't Yankee candles though! Hee-hee...just good old Walmart brand!
The most famous Valentine poem was written by Edgar Allan Poe to Frances Sargent Osgood.
On average, men shell out $130 each on candy, cards, jewelry, flowers and dates. That’s more than double what women commit to spending.
Love my little angel that my friend Sheila gave me years ago. She goes quite well with my Valentine decor don't ya think?
About 8 billion conversational candy hearts will be produced this year; that’s enough candy to stretch from Rome, Italy to Valentine, Arizona 20 times and back again.
A sweet little heart in a frame from friends Pat and Laura from 2003 sits among my Valentine decor.
Popular Valentine's Day symbols include; heart shaped emblems, doves, the image of winged cupid and his bow and arrow.
My cute little heart shaped tea cup that belonged to sweet motherinlove.
Teachers receive the most Valentine cards each year.
The Melting Pot Fondue restaurant is at the top of the list for a night out to celebrate Valentine's day.
(My love tree as my sisterinlove Becky calls it!)
Though there are many legends about how Valentine's Day came to be this one is my favorite.
Three hundred years after the death of Jesus Christ, the Roman emperors still demanded that everyone believe in the Roman gods. Valentine, a Christian priest, had been thrown in prison for his teachings. On February 14, Valentine was beheaded, not only because he was a Christian, but also because he had performed a miracle. He supposedly cured the jailer's daughter of her blindness. The night before he was executed, he wrote the jailer's daughter a farewell letter, signing it "From Your Valentine."
I hope that you have enjoyed my cute Valentine fun and facts. Valentine's day is a day to show that "Extra dose of love" to those you love the most. And friends...it can simply be those three little words that mean the most....I LOVE YOU! Some of the best gifts are those that are "free".
The best "I love you" came straight from God when He said in John 3:16...
