Wednesday in the Word-Humbled

On the evening of Palm Sunday our church observed the Lord's Supper. Some people call it “Communion” some call it “Eucharist,” “Lord’s Supper,” “Lord’s Table,”or the “Last Supper". It depends on your religious affiliation to what you may call it but for me I simply call it "The Lord's Supper".

It's a time to reflect on what Jesus has done for us. I cannot participate in the Lord's Supper without crying.  For me it is such a humbling experience. When I think about what Christ done for me on the Cross I am truly humbled and to think that even if I'd been the ONLY person on the face of this earth He STILL would have given His life for just me! Overwhelming!

At my church before we partake of the Lord's Supper our Pastor has a time for us all to evaluate our personal life and have a time of cleansing our hearts in preparation for the Lord's supper. We're given a guide to help us with our evaluation and ample time to go through each one on the list. I can assure you that you cannot be in a relationship with Jesus and these questions not having meaning in your life. Will my answer be YES or NO and what do I need to get right with the Lord within my heart and soul.

 

After a personal time of reflection our Lord's Supper begins. Our Pastor reminds those in attendance that the Lord's Supper is for those that are saved. For those that are not saved he simply ask that you listen and watch. Then our Pastor humbly kneels before the Deacons attending to the Lord's Supper to serve them. For me, this reflects how our Lord came to serve and not be served. He then prays for each one of our Deacons that is participating. This is such a sweet and precious time for those of us in attendance of the Lord's Supper. Then scripture is read before the taking of the bread representing Christ's broken body. Again Scripture is read before drinking of the juice representing the blood of Christ. 

Matthew 26:26-29

 

To think that Jesus took all of mankind's sin upon Himself and shed His blood for us is more than I can fathom. Imagining Him dying on a Cross at Calvary for ME is simply beyond my comprehension. It was a great time to have  the Lord's Supper as it prepared our hearts for Easter....Resurrection Sunday!

And of course Resurrection Sunday is just that! He arose from the grave and now sits on the right hand of the Father always interceding on our behalf.

Acts 1: 9-12 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel,  who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

  

Did you catch that.....He will come in a like manner as he left......in a cloud!

  

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 says,

For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.

The Bible says in Matthew 24:36 says "But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only". 

There is coming a day when God will lean over and tell His only Son...."SON, GO GET MY CHILDREN". 

  May we all be ready to meet our Lord!
