{March is well under way}

February days are now gone and March has officially kicked in.   I finally purchased a new monthly focus board.  We ventured out for a day date which included a movie. I love our day dates. I will give my honest review about the movie for those interested. I wanted to see this movie as it was based on a true story. I did enjoy the movie but oh my, it was a tear jerker from the get go! It ended good but mercy! Let's just say that I am thankful that no one was sitting close enough to see my tear stained face. I am glad that I saw it but I am good for a while on sad movies, even if they do end good!   My oldest daughter, her husband and their son participated in the Spartan race which is a series of obstacle courses that challenge. They done so well. As you can see from the pictures it gets pretty muddy!  My three daughters participate each year in the Gate River Run. I love it that they do this together. They have so much support & encouragement from all the onlookers. I am just

{The Happenings around Conner's Pond}

Oh my it seems we've had lots going on in our neck of the woods. How about you? When I said to someone recently "I have a busy and full life" I meant every word of it but I would not take anything for the wonderful life that God has given to me!

So here's a few highlights........

New kitchen granite counters are now installed and I LOVE THEM! Here's a before picture and after picture I snapped with my cell phone. Dang those cell phone camera's come in handy at times!!!

Before new counters.

A few pictures of the new granite.

New sinks too.

I do love the color.

Now of course I must change out the handles on the cabinets and drawers. I've got to buy new bar stools because when they took out my drop down bar off my counter then the bar stools I have are now too short. Bar stools with backs or no backs????  There's also a little touch of painting on one wall that needs to be done and I had no intentions of painting my kitchen cabinets but now I'm having 2nd thoughts. My cabinets are 22 years old and solid oak and I love them.  But...now I am wondering if I need to go with a darker color cabinet. Paint or Stain? Give me some ideas ladies..... I love my kitchen floors but then would I need to replace it with another color if I change my kitchen cabinet color! And handles for the cabinets....oh my! 29 of them I need to purchase! Decisions, decisions...MONEY, MONEY!
But my granny used to say...."Rome wasn't built in a day".

Another highlight for me recently was that I was invited to speak at one of our local nursing homes for Mother's Day where my mom resides and needless to say "God was good". The place was packed out with family to support the mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers.

Then I had another wonderful opportunity to speak to mothers and daughters at an event the same afternoon. The decor was Mad Hatter (in which I do love) and beautifully done. Needless to say when I arrived home that night this old chick was dragging but in a GOOD WAY!  I did snap a few pics with my phone camera to share. There was an array of fingerfoods and desserts.

My prayer through the messages delivered that day was that our Lord would be honored.

 My oldest daughter just celebrated her birthday on May 3. She wanted "Brownies and Ice cream" for her CAKE and that's what she got.

She got all sorts of nice gifts but this one cracked me up.

My middle daughter is always telling her sister (the birthday girl) that she is a Trophy Wife. She loves to aggravate

Mother's Day couldn't have been any better. Anytime you are surrounded by your children and grandchildren it's a true blessing. I am so proud of the mama's my girls are to their children. Raising them in the Word of God is the sweetest gift I could ever ask for in my life!

And speaking of gifts.....I just have to share this cute picture of the newest grandgirl that is a gift from heaven. She is about ready to go to the beach don't you think? LOL!

 And I just couldn't let the opportunity pass me by today without paying tribute to my motherinlove for her birthday who is walking on the streets of Glory with our Lord.

She would have been 78 today. She is so very missed by our family. She was a wonderful role model at what it truly means to be a Godly Mother, Motherlove, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Her life was her family and she taught us all well what family truly means. I am looking forward to the day when I will see her again.

Next week I'll be sharing a simple and easy recipe for mini chocolate pies...and OH YES....GOOD, GOOD, GOOD

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  3. We recently shopped for counter stools and ended up have these requirements 1. backs for sure 2. swivel 3. vinyl or leather seats so you can slide on and off easily 4. you really need to sit in them as some were very comfortable and some not so much (that eliminated any online orders) Good luck!

    1. Yes, I think bar stools in next on my list to do. I have a large dining room table so right now we are thinking in lines of regular bar stools to take up less room since my table is close by. But who knows...I am BAD to change my mind! LOL!

Our home is so in need of renovation, but like you said....money, money. :( So glad you had such a great Mother's Day. You and all 3 of your girls are beautiful. And, oh, that newest grand girl....mercy, she's adorable. HOPE you have a great rest of the week, sweet Friend....take care....slow down! ;-)

    1. Deb, Marty told me recently I needed to slow down a tad and start saying NO to even some good things in life. I'm really praying about what to say NO too! LOL! But oh yes, you are right. You start on one thing at home and then you see other things that need to be done. But if I have the time I have no money and if I have the money I have no time. Never ending story isn't it?

  7. Beautiful new countertops Cindy. Yes, one thing does lead to another in remodeling or updating the house. Our remodeling just keeps expanding. After remodeling the kitchen and part of the bathroom, I'm now painting woodwork which will take me a while to do. It's fun reading about your family with great pics of them.

  14. Cindy, I always enjoy your post. God has blessed you with a beautiful family. Love your countertops, looks like a new kitchen! I don't know about 'staining' but I do know painting cabinets might sound easy enough but it's not!!! Prep, prep, prep....I painted my cabinets and I loved the new look, but had to redo and redo where the doors shut, touching the frame. The paint would pull loose. If you think you've sanded enough, sand some more!

    1. Thanks Miss Mary. I too just recently heard that painting the cabinets was VERY time consuming and a lot harder than it looks. I've had several tell me the staining was easier but even when they say "It will be dry in 4 hours" not to believe it! I might just shine up my old cabinets, get new handles and go from there! Ha!

  16. Your new counters are beautiful. We recently did some work in our kitchen but we opted to keep the counters we had. Funds and energy went into other things and I'm happy with the change. Can't wait to see what other changes you make. What a treat for you to speak at the Mother's Day tea. I know you were a blessing!

  17. Cindy your counter tops are really pretty. The color is like mine except mine are formica not granite and I have light oak cabinets. I am not a decorator (you could give me a million dollars and I would still have to have someone to decorate for me) so I think you kitchen looks great. I love how big your kitchen is and you have so many cabinets. You are very talented so therefore you are going to have to do what pleases you and it will be beautiful whatever that is. Brownies and ice cream, yum, yum. Love you.....Jackie

  18. Cindy, I am so glad I dropped over. I love this post. I am always so happy that people use their blog to praise the Lord. They aren't afraid of what others will think and who knows how many lives are touched when they read. I love your new counter tops! My cabinets are similar in color but are hickory. My sister remodeled her kitchen several years ago and her hickory cabinets are a darker stain and they are gorgeous! I think darker would really look nice with your new countertop. I don't think the floor would have to be changed. Hope to read more from you in the future. xo Dianne

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Another Fun Filled Weekend}

I hope you all are doing well. I am trying to wind down for the night and thought I would try and get a post out. Girls, by this time I am in my fat clothes and recliner smashing that remote control!   Marty and I kicked off our weekend by having a little fun food as I call it,  "charcuterie" style out by the pond. Of course I always fix more than we need or eat but it sure was good.  Two of our granddaughters had dance recitals over the weekend so we got to watch them perform and oh my! They were just the cutest things ever.  We were blessed to be able to see them perform. Then we celebrated a birthday for this sweet grandgirl! She was excited about being double digits . And besides all the fun from the weekend I was able to see some of my pretties in bloom.  Now to enjoy a cup of coffee.... I hope that you all have a wonderful, blessed week.  Hugs and blessings, Cindy

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
