{March is well under way}

February days are now gone and March has officially kicked in.   I finally purchased a new monthly focus board.  We ventured out for a day date which included a movie. I love our day dates. I will give my honest review about the movie for those interested. I wanted to see this movie as it was based on a true story. I did enjoy the movie but oh my, it was a tear jerker from the get go! It ended good but mercy! Let's just say that I am thankful that no one was sitting close enough to see my tear stained face. I am glad that I saw it but I am good for a while on sad movies, even if they do end good!   My oldest daughter, her husband and their son participated in the Spartan race which is a series of obstacle courses that challenge. They done so well. As you can see from the pictures it gets pretty muddy!  My three daughters participate each year in the Gate River Run. I love it that they do this together. They have so much support & encouragement from all the onlookers. I am just

{Celebrating 39 Years of Marriage}

We celebrated our 39th Wedding Anniversary on September 23 and spent a quiet, relaxing evening at home.

WOW! BABIES....JUST BABIES!
We were both 18 years old. Actually my man was about to turn 19 but oh my...that seems so young to me now! Of course years ago couples married at a young age. My man's grandmother was 14 years old. His mom was 16 years old. So...I guess being 18 meant that we were REALLY GROWNUP'S! LOL!
We dated two years before we married. I can remember to this day as my grandfather was driving me to the church and about 1 mile from the church he pulled over on the side of the road, took me by the hands and said, "Baby, you don't have to go through with this wedding if you don't won't too." I remember saying, "Papa, I love him! My grandfather simply said, "Then that's good enough for me".

Basically, we have grown up together. We started our family at the age of 20 and God has truly blessed our family. Through the years of marriage we've had trials, tribulation, tears and MUCH laughter. We've had ups and downs and at times all we could see was down. BUT, we have shared JOY that has surpassed anything that I could have ever imagined for my life. God in His ultimate mercy and grace has kept His hand upon us.

So for our 39th wedding anniversary we had a quiet evening at home dining at our table that my grandfather built for me eating my man's favorite food with our favorite colors...red and black!

Since we are Georgia Bulldogs fans and in the midst of football season it just seemed right to use red and black. Though right now I could pinch their heads off for playing badly! However, as I told a lady once...Your favorite ball team can be like your children at times...They MESS up but you still love them!

I enjoy playing around with tablescapes and honestly I was ready to get my fall table done. But...the red and black seemed to be PERFECT for our at home anniversary dinner.

Of course you must have a couple of candles right?

I love my red and black dishes. I wanted to mix match them for this tablescape along with soup/salad bowls because I knew what appetizer he would enjoy with his main course meal.

We started out with a bowl of hearty clam soup with bacon, green chives and his favorite ingredient...red pepper flakes.

Grilled Salmon with rosemary from my stash of fresh herbs, topped with feta cheese, chopped spinach, chopped fresh parsley and basil from my herb stash and green chives is his favorite. He really likes Salmon anyway you make it! Along with that came lobster cake, another seafood favorite of his along with crab fingers, broccoli, mushrooms and jalapeno peppers. (The pepper was the last of my peppers from my garden) NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL A SEAFOOD MEAL!

Of course we ended the night with my favorite dessert that we shared.

Cheesecake and coffee!

Well I must say that I don't think that we could have went anywhere else that we would have enjoyed our meal as much as we did our seafood extravaganza.

I had secretly began my prep for our meal early that morning as this would be my gift to him. And my gift from him kept me away from home most of the day.........PEDI, NAILS, FACIAL, SHOPPING AND STARBUCKS! YEP....my kind of gift!

We had so much food left over! I ALWAYS overcook and guess that I will NEVER learn to cook for just two! But....I don't waste food either. I took all the seafood that was left and tossed it in the clam soup and it became Seafood soup! And...it was very good!

 Yes, 39 years ago we said I do! Homemade wedding dress by my grandmother. Simple homemade cake by my grandmother with punch, mints and nuts. Simple, simple decorations. Nothing fancy. And yet...here we are all these years later still a part of a love story that God is STILL writing.

 I am looking forward to every year that God gives to us together.

  Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  23. Cindy how sweet is this post? Congratulations on 39 years. You two are adorable. You are truly someone to look up to. So many people get divorced nowadays that it really warms my heart to see couples who go the distance and still love each other after all those years. But who else would put up with us but our sweet spouses? I'm on 28 years so I've still got a ways to go. Bless you and your wonderful family.

It's so hard to take all your favorites and scale them down! I love cooking for two cookbooks these days! Haha! :)

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Another Fun Filled Weekend}

I hope you all are doing well. I am trying to wind down for the night and thought I would try and get a post out. Girls, by this time I am in my fat clothes and recliner smashing that remote control!   Marty and I kicked off our weekend by having a little fun food as I call it,  "charcuterie" style out by the pond. Of course I always fix more than we need or eat but it sure was good.  Two of our granddaughters had dance recitals over the weekend so we got to watch them perform and oh my! They were just the cutest things ever.  We were blessed to be able to see them perform. Then we celebrated a birthday for this sweet grandgirl! She was excited about being double digits . And besides all the fun from the weekend I was able to see some of my pretties in bloom.  Now to enjoy a cup of coffee.... I hope that you all have a wonderful, blessed week.  Hugs and blessings, Cindy

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
