{March is well under way}

February days are now gone and March has officially kicked in.   I finally purchased a new monthly focus board.  We ventured out for a day date which included a movie. I love our day dates. I will give my honest review about the movie for those interested. I wanted to see this movie as it was based on a true story. I did enjoy the movie but oh my, it was a tear jerker from the get go! It ended good but mercy! Let's just say that I am thankful that no one was sitting close enough to see my tear stained face. I am glad that I saw it but I am good for a while on sad movies, even if they do end good!   My oldest daughter, her husband and their son participated in the Spartan race which is a series of obstacle courses that challenge. They done so well. As you can see from the pictures it gets pretty muddy!  My three daughters participate each year in the Gate River Run. I love it that they do this together. They have so much support & encouragement from all the onlookers. I am just

{Happy New Year and my 2017 Focus Word}

I hope that your New Year has started out wonderful and that you are counting your blessings no matter great or small from 2016. We spent New Years in Georgia hunting, eating and shopping! The hunting wasn't all that great but the eating and shopping was! Of course eating and shopping is always great huh?

Needless to say that none of us stayed up to see the New Year come in. But, we surely praised the Lord for another New Year.

 With a New Year brings the unknown for us all. We never know what tomorrow may bring and honestly, that's a good thing. But with the New Year it does bring a new Focus Word for me. There is nothing magical about having a focus word. It just simply gives me something to think about or to focus on. I will find myself looking for my focus word in the Word of God, on signs, billboards, sermons, Bible studies and more. It is amazing at what the Lord will show me through a simple word.  The stories that I could tell you at how the Lord has used each word each year in my life has been life changing for me.  In 2013 my Focus Word was Peace. In 2014: Rejoice. In 2015: Praise and in 2016 it was Reflect-Reflection

It seems the Lord had a two-part word for me for 2016.

Reflecting on 2016 has surely given me reason after reason to praise Him and to be thankful for even the little things in life that others might find silly, not important, and even a little crazy at times. It seems that as we age and begin to watch our grandbabies grow up that it's the little things in life that surely matter.   Now the {Being Still} part of this equation has been the hardest for me. And I mean being still in the Lord....

Reflection; when I am prayer daily, when I put on the armor of God daily and when I am in His Word daily I can see a reflection of Christ in the mirror. But, there's many days that when I look into the mirror all I see is Cindy! I see the ugly, the bad, the woman that could so easily get so caught up in sin and I am so disappointed in myself. How I praise Him that He loves me despite my sinful nature and that one day when I look in the mirror I will see Him in all His glory!

Which brings me to 2017...........

I prayed and asked the Lord to give me a new word and three different times this word came to me. YEP...another one of those silly stories (to some anyway) but the Lord doesn't always have to speak to us through a burning bush you know....But, I will spare you the story for now.

My FOCUS WORD for 2017 is...........

I challenge you to ask the Lord for a Focus Word for you this brand new year. Your word doesn't have to be a Biblical word. One of my blogging friends said one year that her word was Me. When I first read that I really wasn't sure what she meant. But as I began to read more and listen to her...truly listen, I realized that she had every reason for her word to be ME! She needed to start doing things for herself...taking care of her health, getting her finances in a stable order, thinking about her future with retirement, and to quit being a workaholic. Not that she had the mindset that life was about her....but simply that she needed to start taking care of things for herself.  She needed for her word to be ME!

It's my prayer that your New Year will bring the desires of your heart and that you will be blessed beyond your beyond.

Linking up with Deb with a WORD for 2017.

  1. Hi Cindy and Happy New Year! What a lovely family you have and so glad to hear you've had a nice time. I love your words for the year. I don't usually do this but I do believe mine has to be 'Thankful'. After all that happened with my little granddaughter last year and me falling and breaking my knee when I was most needed, the Lord has chosen to heal her and heal me. Thank you, Jesus! Here's to another year of blogging with you.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  2. Hello Cindy, thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a nice comment. I've never chosen a new year word but this year I plan to be in the presence of God through prayer every day. As an avid gardener my gardens provide many blessings and are the ideal place for quiet prayer.
    Who knows, perhaps a focus word will be given to me.

  6. What a beautifully written post. Glad you had a great New Years with family. I read another post by a lady who said she did not pick a word to focus on because there were just too many. I realized that she probably hadn't asked God to give her the word He wanted her to focus on. My blog post on Monday was about our one word or several to focus on this year. Mine is MORE.... More ofJesus less of Debbie! Love you, dear friend, and praying 2017 is full of lots of blessings for you.

  7. I am so blessed by this post! How wonderful to have the words you had and that they spoke to you. I have not looked for a word of the year in a long time but this year for some reason, and more than once, KINDNESS came to be. I have a few situations in my life right now that I get so frustrated and, I guess, unkind about! It will be a challenge but I know that because I choose to follow our Lord and Savior, that He put it on my heart. Happy New Year!

  12. Your focus word reminds of a scripture I use in prayer. Mark 9:24: 'I believe Lord; help my unbelief' It keeps me centered on the fact that even though I truly believe, I need his strength to do so.

  13. Great pictures Cindy and Happy New Year. I don't do words and I don't make per say resolutions. But I have tried to set certain goals and at least 2 per year to work on. Last year it was to remodel a bathroom and to try my hand at roses. Bathroom was done and I now have 4 rose bushes that have done well. This year my 2 goals are: redecorate my small back porch and to try at least one new dish once a month. I am a creature of habit and not much at trying new things at all. LOL! Connie Royals

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Another Fun Filled Weekend}

I hope you all are doing well. I am trying to wind down for the night and thought I would try and get a post out. Girls, by this time I am in my fat clothes and recliner smashing that remote control!   Marty and I kicked off our weekend by having a little fun food as I call it,  "charcuterie" style out by the pond. Of course I always fix more than we need or eat but it sure was good.  Two of our granddaughters had dance recitals over the weekend so we got to watch them perform and oh my! They were just the cutest things ever.  We were blessed to be able to see them perform. Then we celebrated a birthday for this sweet grandgirl! She was excited about being double digits . And besides all the fun from the weekend I was able to see some of my pretties in bloom.  Now to enjoy a cup of coffee.... I hope that you all have a wonderful, blessed week.  Hugs and blessings, Cindy

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
