{March is well under way}

February days are now gone and March has officially kicked in.   I finally purchased a new monthly focus board.  We ventured out for a day date which included a movie. I love our day dates. I will give my honest review about the movie for those interested. I wanted to see this movie as it was based on a true story. I did enjoy the movie but oh my, it was a tear jerker from the get go! It ended good but mercy! Let's just say that I am thankful that no one was sitting close enough to see my tear stained face. I am glad that I saw it but I am good for a while on sad movies, even if they do end good!   My oldest daughter, her husband and their son participated in the Spartan race which is a series of obstacle courses that challenge. They done so well. As you can see from the pictures it gets pretty muddy!  My three daughters participate each year in the Gate River Run. I love it that they do this together. They have so much support & encouragement from all the onlookers. I am just

{Why the NAME-Creations By Cindy}

I wish I had a dollar for every time someone asked me after reading my blog name, "What do you CREATE? LOL!

Well, there is a little story behind the blog name. Years ago I did photography on the side.  I've always enjoyed photography and ever since I can remember I've had a camera of some kind or another in my hands. Later in life, my Photography business simply became "Creations by Cindy". I had a website for a long time. When I decided to do a blog it all started out because of the photography so that is how it became "Creations by Cindy". I've never wanted to go through the hassle of changing it so decided to keep it. And....it kinda suits me because you never know what I might be creating. It might be a picture, a meal, a craft, a tablescape or something.
I am a jack of all trades and a master of none!

 And when it comes to a camera you never know what I might be snapping a picture of.....

There came a time that I was burning the midnight oil as they say trying to schedule pictures, edit, and all that good stuff that goes along with it and that doesn't count the time I would spend to try and learn the latest techniques. When my grandbabies began to come along it became obvious that my photography would be of our babies. Snapping a picture of them here and there keeps me plenty busy with photography.

Matter of fact I will give you a sneak peek of our youngest grandgirl that will be celebrating her 1st birthday this coming Sunday.

Isn't she just a doll?

One more....guess I better not post any more of her before I show them to her mama. LOL!

I was the photographer that preferred outside pictures any day of the week. Still am!

No matter how simple the picture may be, fun pictures are always the best.

 I love doing a collage that that captures the personality.

 Anytime there is water somewhere in the picture it is bound to turn out sweet.

 And then when you just happen to capture a sweet little face like this...well, what can I say.

 I was actually photographing a wedding and had sat down for a minute and turned to see this sweet little gal looking at me smiling! Of course, I had to snap!

And oh this sweet little thing right here will be 13 years old in a few weeks. WOW...

And this little guy just celebrated his 11th birthday! What happened to these babies?

I can remember photographing this little guy to this day. He smiled the entire time and never cried not one time.
Sometimes I would get on this kick of adding a touch of magic...

This little "Creations by Cindy" actually won best creative idea on a Photography Blog once and I received a $50 gift card to a Photo lab and I got bragging rights on the blog! LOL!

Maybe in the next few weeks, I will share a few wedding pictures with you too. I was often told that my specialty seemed to be with kids photography but in all honesty, I loved to take pictures of old barns, churches, old buildings, and well, pretty much anything outside that caught my eye. Weddings always left me drained but at the same time, if this makes sense, I felt truly happy that I had helped to make the couple's special day by getting a few keepsakes for them. But weddings was truly hard work and long hours. Family pictures at times was a challenge especially large families. Mainly because there usually winded up being at least three women that all thought they needed to be the boss and four to six children that took turns peeing, pooping, crying, throwing a temper tantrum, getting a spanking and well......

YES....I will just stick to my grandbabies now. LOL!

  I have become lazy using my camera since it's so easy to just snap a picture with my cell phone camera. Even when using my big boy as my man calls my camera, I've become lazy using manual and changing out the speed and aperture and all that good stuff. So easy to put it on AUTO and go! My very first photo class was a college class and I learned how to develop black and white pictures. I still have a few old film canisters laying around somewhere.

But I can truly say that a PICTURE PAINTS A THOUSAND WORDS. Every picture tells a story of some kind.

I am looking forward to the revealing party with Stephanie when we all will reveal our Tea Cup and Mug exchange next week so stay tuned. Hop over and visit the lovely Stephanie from The Enchanting Rose. http://theenchantingrose.blogspot.com/

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  3. Oh my, what a sweet blessing that "big boy" camera is! We've got an older digital camera, but I'm convinced my newer iPhone takes better shots! Both my son and my son-in-law have professional photography equipment, so I leave those shots to them. Your work is really beautiful -- you've got a great eye for space, color, content and proportion! :)

  11. Oh Cindy, reading your blog was like reading about me....I have always had a camera all my life then I picked up a Nikon professional camera and life changed. I got it for a hobby, just for me but within 3 months I was asked to shoot a wedding. Over the years I have done several and then I got into senior class pics. I love doing shoots but I have taken weddings over my plate due to the fibromyalgia. I have done shoots inside but I prefer by far the natural look of the photos done out in nature. I love doing it but like you, the cell phone is so much easier to care around and you have it with more often then not. I enjoyed looking at your pics and thank you so much for sharing. Come back by and don't be a stranger on my blog. I do crafts, photography and as you could tell I am an artist. I prefer oils but it seems I have fallen into acrylics more these days....dry faster and for the deck that is what I needed. Love your blog!

    1. I was always a Canon girl Pam but over the years I have wanted a Nikon. But the Nikon I want just seems way too much to justify the cost at this stage of the game. I do seriously need to get my Canon worked on a little. Might need to do that as SOON as I get through with the oldest grandgirl's upcoming birthday photo shoot. LOL!

  16. Hi Cindy, I enjoyed all your pictures. The piano one was so cute! You said you once had a website. I have had mine since 2000 and I must have over 300 pages on family, inspiration, Holidays. Every year I think I will close it, but I enjoy it and my grandkids like looking at the pages they are in. I also like knowing how my pictures are stored and saved. I do have a blogger page if I do close my website. Off to see about the Tea Cup page. I also posted my tea party pictures at my blog. Take care!

  18. This was an interesting post Cindy, much of which I can identify with. Lavender Cottage was the name of my gardening and writing business so it made sense to name my blog that too. I even went so far as to name our little bungalow the same, a quaint British tradition. Since I supplied my own photos for articles, my Canon was always by my side with a point and shoot in my purse, just in case. Like you, the cell phone that takes fabulous photos is my go-to now and I feel bad about the DSLR sitting in its case, but I'm retired and only blogging now.
    You had a great formal training for using your camera, I winged it and always on Auto. This shows in your photos, very nice and professional looking. Technology is changing at an alarming speed - hope I can keep up. :-)

Now, it seems I usually use my phone, only because my health hasn't been good enough to walk out and about. As luck would have it, I finally decided to deal with the pain, and took my camera for a walk a few days ago...and the BATTERY WAS DEAD! lol I was not happy. Someday I hope to get back to using my camera regularly because I miss my nature photos. Until then, I'll enjoy yours. :)

I'm quite behind in blogging, but I'm glad I didn't miss your posts :) Really enjoyed your thoughts about the world of photography and how rapidly it is changing, to where cell phones are taking amazing pictures and the need for DSLR is waning. However, I still use my trusty Canon, and I haven't given into the temptation to get a smartphone, yet. I've been warned by many, and now you, that it may replace my camera, and I hate to hear that, but I guess that is the way of technology. I've recently been looking to find a prime fixed wide angle lens to round out my equipment, and now I'm rethinking that, because of the way technology is headed. I enjoyed all the pictures you shared, your talent is amazing, but I'm glad that you are just enjoying your grands, that is so much more important! Hugs to you today :)

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Another Fun Filled Weekend}

I hope you all are doing well. I am trying to wind down for the night and thought I would try and get a post out. Girls, by this time I am in my fat clothes and recliner smashing that remote control!   Marty and I kicked off our weekend by having a little fun food as I call it,  "charcuterie" style out by the pond. Of course I always fix more than we need or eat but it sure was good.  Two of our granddaughters had dance recitals over the weekend so we got to watch them perform and oh my! They were just the cutest things ever.  We were blessed to be able to see them perform. Then we celebrated a birthday for this sweet grandgirl! She was excited about being double digits . And besides all the fun from the weekend I was able to see some of my pretties in bloom.  Now to enjoy a cup of coffee.... I hope that you all have a wonderful, blessed week.  Hugs and blessings, Cindy

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
