{March is well under way}

February days are now gone and March has officially kicked in.   I finally purchased a new monthly focus board.  We ventured out for a day date which included a movie. I love our day dates. I will give my honest review about the movie for those interested. I wanted to see this movie as it was based on a true story. I did enjoy the movie but oh my, it was a tear jerker from the get go! It ended good but mercy! Let's just say that I am thankful that no one was sitting close enough to see my tear stained face. I am glad that I saw it but I am good for a while on sad movies, even if they do end good!   My oldest daughter, her husband and their son participated in the Spartan race which is a series of obstacle courses that challenge. They done so well. As you can see from the pictures it gets pretty muddy!  My three daughters participate each year in the Gate River Run. I love it that they do this together. They have so much support & encouragement from all the onlookers. I am just

{Chair and Hutch Makeover, Brownies and Life}

In the midst of my many makeovers I managed to get another chair painted. Remember the one I painted blue? Which I love how it turned out.

I adore how the blue turned out. I have several of these chairs I use for various things so decided this one needed to be white for my kitchen.

This poor chair was weather WEARY so it took a good two coats on it. But the white gave it some life. It was a dingy yellow by the time I got around to painting it.

My Herb Box redo looked so nice sitting in my freshly painted white chair.

Decided to make a small burlap wreath to add to my chair.

I am happy with this cutie sitting in the corner of my kitchen. Serves as two purposes too. One is for holding my herbs and whatever else I want to put in the chair and should I need an extra chair for someone to sit in, out comes the box of herbs.

Remember the vintage corner hutch I bought at an antique store?

That girl took some work! I took the hinges off of the door and went to three local places to buy new hinges. I needed white or at least silver. Well, NO LUCK! Matter of fact the guy at Ace Hardware said, "How old are these hinges? I said, "Well, at the sound of your voice they must be pretty old.". He said that he not seen old hinges like that in a long time. I wanted them that day so I meant I would not be whipped and I did not want to drive another 30 miles to see if I could find some hinges to match the old ones. Off to Walmart I went to buy me some paint with primer in it and that would be good on metal.

I boiled those things for about 30 minutes in vinegar and Dawn dish detergent. Let them cool. Sanded the mess out of them. Cleaned them up and gave each side two coats of spray paint made for metal. YES, I would have hinges on my door that day!

I had already purchased this sweet little knob at Lowe's earlier for my door on hutch.

I am proud to say that little vintage corner hutch is complete. I have only one thing on the hutch at this point but isn't that just the cutest clock scale ever? I spotted this Kirkland's and I am pretty sure I heard it whispering...
"Take me home, take me home, take me home".

New hardware has been purchased and installed. That was an all day job!

I kept this sweet thing one day last week and we had a tea party, played dress up, put on makeup, played outside, eat Popsicle's and chased butterflies. Such a fun day with her.

My oldest daughter will be celebrating her birthday on Thursday so we celebrated her yesterday. Each of my daughters, soninloves and grands get to pick the meal and dessert they choose for their birthday celebration. She choose fried fish, hush puppies and cheese grits. YUM!  She wanted a Gooey Brownie Pie for her dessert. Oh my goodness! NOPE, cannot leave any at my house because I will eat it all! It was so good. I used a spring form pan to bake it in and it turned out perfect. Recipe can be found on Pinterest. I have it saved under desserts if you just want to pop over to my page and save it.

 My girl is such a sweet servant of God and a wonderful prayer warrior.
Please join me in wishing my oldest daughter Kristy a happy birthday.

I love how you roll with needing the hinges right then and there...that would be me, too, when I want to get something done!! The hutch looks wonderful and that scale clock, well I thought it was vintage. It's so cute! Talking about cute, your little grandgirl is adorable, and what a fun day. Your Kristy is a beauty and a very Happy Birthday to her. I loved the wisdom at the end...so true!

  6. This was filled with so much joy and fun! First, Happy Birthday to your beautiful daughter! You are blessed to have such lovely daughters!! I have three sons and two daughters in law.Still praying for a special wife for son #3. Love your white chair..perfect job and placement! And that corner cabinet is absolutely terrific! So glad you didn't wait for new hinges...I love spray paint and will use it anytime before buying new hinges and knobs, although I love your special knob. Since you only needed one, that was perfect. Your cabinet doors/hardware look lovely. I can 't wait to see the whole kitchen. Oh, that clock/scale...I had to look twice to see it was a clock! Love it!! Perfect spot for it. Now that brownie pie? Wow! I probably need to stay away from that one... This was all so much fun. Thank you for brightening my evening! You always inspire me to go find a project...

I love all the white....I'm just too old school (and lazy) to change everything in our house! ;-) Happy, happy birthday, Ms. Kristy. 1. Awe Deb, I am ready to be finished but have several more things I want to do and then I am calling it quits on makeovers for a while. Well, I say that now anyway! A house is constantly needing a makeover but it takes so much time, energy and money! My Kristy is a sweet hearted gal. She has taught me so much instead of me teaching her.

  11. Girl...you are really impressing me! I am in love with that corner cupboard and your make-over is just fabulous...as well as the darling chair. As I was reading your post, I was screaming, "Paint those hinges...don't buy new ones!" Did you hear me?? When I painted my kitchen cabinets, I painted every single hinge and screw that held them in...and they were all numbered as to keep them in order. Mine were antique brass and I painted them oil rubbed bronze...stuck them puppies down in a Styrofoam board and painted away. And Happy Birthday to your dear daughter, Kristy! She's the one who I think looks most like her mama. That gooey brownie cake looks to-die-for good!

    1. Thanks my friend. Girl, I came within an ace of re-doing all the hardware in my kitchen and changed my mind. With over 40 hinges and 30 handles I just didn't have it in me. But boy could I have saved some money! I loved the black with the ends touched with copper so choked it up and bought them. Oh I can't wait to tell Kristy you think she looks like me. I have had people tell me all my girls favored me but never had anyone tell me my Kristy looked like me. I love it! She still has time to outgrow it. LOL!

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Another Fun Filled Weekend}

I hope you all are doing well. I am trying to wind down for the night and thought I would try and get a post out. Girls, by this time I am in my fat clothes and recliner smashing that remote control!   Marty and I kicked off our weekend by having a little fun food as I call it,  "charcuterie" style out by the pond. Of course I always fix more than we need or eat but it sure was good.  Two of our granddaughters had dance recitals over the weekend so we got to watch them perform and oh my! They were just the cutest things ever.  We were blessed to be able to see them perform. Then we celebrated a birthday for this sweet grandgirl! She was excited about being double digits . And besides all the fun from the weekend I was able to see some of my pretties in bloom.  Now to enjoy a cup of coffee.... I hope that you all have a wonderful, blessed week.  Hugs and blessings, Cindy

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
