{March is well under way}

February days are now gone and March has officially kicked in.   I finally purchased a new monthly focus board.  We ventured out for a day date which included a movie. I love our day dates. I will give my honest review about the movie for those interested. I wanted to see this movie as it was based on a true story. I did enjoy the movie but oh my, it was a tear jerker from the get go! It ended good but mercy! Let's just say that I am thankful that no one was sitting close enough to see my tear stained face. I am glad that I saw it but I am good for a while on sad movies, even if they do end good!   My oldest daughter, her husband and their son participated in the Spartan race which is a series of obstacle courses that challenge. They done so well. As you can see from the pictures it gets pretty muddy!  My three daughters participate each year in the Gate River Run. I love it that they do this together. They have so much support & encouragement from all the onlookers. I am just

Wednesday in the Word-Who is standing in the Gap?

We may all be different in many aspects of life but one thing I do know as a Mother and now as a Nana is this; If we truly love our children and grands then we want God's absolute best for their lives! PRAYING for them is a MUST!

15 years ago a group of women at my church began a weekly time of praying together as moms for our children. We started out with a book called "When Mothers Pray" by Cheri Fuller. (I highly recommend this book for all Moms and Grandmothers) Then we began a Moms in Touch prayer group founded by Fern Nicholes. We met one day a week for one hour for several years. We had 12 groups of ladies in which we had 4 ladies to a group. We done this one hour before our regular Bible Study classes would begin at our church and needless to say...we filled our fellowship hall with praying mama's!

Recently me and three other friends had the opportunity to meet for a lunch. My friend Sheila had retired from her job of many years and we wanted to celebrate a NEW CHAPTER IN LIFE with her.

We showered our friend with balloons, gifts and lunch.

It was her day indeed but it became OUR DAY as well...As friends, as sisters in the Lord and as those same 4 women that gathered together 15 years ago to meet weekly to pray for our children!

Me, Sheila, Melody and Karen

We reminisced, we laughed and we prayed. So much has happened over the course of the last 15 years. Marriages, divorce, health, work status, grandbabies, and well, just life in general. But ONE thing remains...THE POWER OF PRAYER.

You've heard the saying, "The Family who prays together stays together?. Well may I add that the "Friends who pray together for their children stay friends together!

Karen and Melody
Me and Sheila

There is a bond between us that ties to our children but most importantly ties to our Lord. A bond that cannot be explained. There is just something about the opportunity to be able to pray with other moms for your children. At times we all felt so inadequate, ill equipped with the right words and searching for answers but in the midst of our feeble attempt to pray for our children GOD HEARD OUR HEARTS.

We prayed so many different prayers for our children and we would pray scripture over them. We prayed fervently for each others children as well. I will never forget when my friend Melody's daughter was going to her first prom! I called Jess at home so I could pray with her over the phone before she went to prom. Of course I prayed for a hedge of protection to surround her, for wise decisions, to enjoy her time at such a special event, to have fun and all the things that she probably expected to hear me pray. But then I prayed a HEDGE of Thorns around her! I have a feeling that about the time she heard those words her EYES became wide open. ( I wish I could have seen her face) I went as far as to pray that if sin entered the scene or temptation of any kind that the Holy Spirit would prick her heart with a hedge of thorns! I think the poor girl was afraid to go to the Prom after that! LOL! Needless to say she is on the Mission field today in Panama leading other children to the Lord and has never forgot that prayer!

And...though we no longer meet weekly to pray together as we did many years ago we will stop what we are doing at a moment's notice to pray for each other, our children, grandchildren and families if needed.
If I could only ask one question today it would be this, "If we aren't praying for our children then who is?

I will always treasure my friendship with these sweet ladies and I praise God for women willing to pray with me and for my children and my grandchildren and  STAND IN THE GAP!
 15 years later I find myself praying all the more. Now I have grandbabies that need my prayers....

"For I will give you abundant water for your thirst and your parched fields. And I will pour out my Spirit and my blessings on your children". Isaiah 44:3

  7. We're kindred spirits, Cindy. I faithfully attended Moms in Touch in my community also while one of mine was in high school. She was the president of the school's Christian Club and survived a roll over accident without a scratch. We ladies had so many stories like that. Yes, the power of prayer bonds us to each other and Him. I met a teacher years later that our prayers targeted and he became a Christian and was in a praise band! Praising God today for all He does in our midst. Love praying the scriptures...powerful.

    Blessings!
    Mary

    1. We are indeed Kindred spirits Mary. How wonderful to hear about the teacher coming to know Christ through the powerful prayers of others. Seems that so many people take the power of prayer so lightly. But I believe that only God can move mountains but our prayers move God! Thanks for stopping by to visit with me today.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Another Fun Filled Weekend}

I hope you all are doing well. I am trying to wind down for the night and thought I would try and get a post out. Girls, by this time I am in my fat clothes and recliner smashing that remote control!   Marty and I kicked off our weekend by having a little fun food as I call it,  "charcuterie" style out by the pond. Of course I always fix more than we need or eat but it sure was good.  Two of our granddaughters had dance recitals over the weekend so we got to watch them perform and oh my! They were just the cutest things ever.  We were blessed to be able to see them perform. Then we celebrated a birthday for this sweet grandgirl! She was excited about being double digits . And besides all the fun from the weekend I was able to see some of my pretties in bloom.  Now to enjoy a cup of coffee.... I hope that you all have a wonderful, blessed week.  Hugs and blessings, Cindy

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
