{March is well under way}

February days are now gone and March has officially kicked in.   I finally purchased a new monthly focus board.  We ventured out for a day date which included a movie. I love our day dates. I will give my honest review about the movie for those interested. I wanted to see this movie as it was based on a true story. I did enjoy the movie but oh my, it was a tear jerker from the get go! It ended good but mercy! Let's just say that I am thankful that no one was sitting close enough to see my tear stained face. I am glad that I saw it but I am good for a while on sad movies, even if they do end good!   My oldest daughter, her husband and their son participated in the Spartan race which is a series of obstacle courses that challenge. They done so well. As you can see from the pictures it gets pretty muddy!  My three daughters participate each year in the Gate River Run. I love it that they do this together. They have so much support & encouragement from all the onlookers. I am just

Wednesday in the Word-WHY Lord?

Does your child/grandchild seem to ask "WHY" a lot? My 4 year old grandgirl is going through that stage that with everything that is said she comes back with a "why". Why Nana, why papa, why mama, why daddy. Why, why, why!  And....she is pretty insistent so the best thing to do for her is ANSWER her! LOL!

So normal for children because they are inquisitive and they want an answer of some kind right? Well, it's not any any different with adults. We ask the question WHY and we want an answer though sometimes we may not get an answer nor may we hear what we'd like to hear. I believe that just as it is alright for us to ask Why of others it is also alright for us to ask WHY to Jesus.

I remember a lady in a Bible study class years ago that made the statement: "We should never question God and ask Him WHY because HE is God and He owes us no explanation".

I agree with the fact that HE is GOD....there is no other God and never will be. I also agree with the fact that HE owes us no explanation. God owes us nothing. However, I disagree with the statement that we should never ask God why! Even the disciples of Jesus asked WHY? If you have the time hop over in your Bible and read Matthew, Chapter 13 and read vs. 10. I will not go into the story line but
 The disciples came to him (Jesus) and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”
 If the disciples of Christ can ask CHRIST why then we surely can right?

One of things that I am trying to do over the summer is to read what I call the "little" books of the Bible. You know....the ones that we seem to never read or doesn't sound interesting to us (just being honest) or we've truly not heard a lot of sermons preached on that particular book. So the first one I decided to read and take it piece by piece to mediate on was Habakkuk. (What a name for a boy right?) I grabbed a cup of hot tea...you must try this if you haven't as it is some kind of good....Kalahari Cafe tea---Chocolatte (yep, it's spelled that way) Red Tea also known as Raspberry Truffle)

 and I began to read the book of Habakkuk.
I found out that he too was a WHY man.

Habakkuk had questions and he had some tough ones at that...you know those get down and get honest type of questions?

In Habakkuk 1:13 he says to God, "WHY do You look on those who deal treacherously, and hold your tongue when the wicked devours a person more righteous than he? Habakkuk wasn't afraid to ask God WHY nor did he think that he was forbidden to do so.

You may have some WHYS for God right now in your life. It's okay to ask Him why. He may not give you the answer you wanted to hear. He may not even answer you right now. It may be years before you hear Him speak to you on the matter. Believe me I've had many WHYS to God. Most oftentimes He has answered me through the reading of His Word. Other times my answer has came through a sermon, a Bible study teacher, a trusted friend, or even through the mouth of a child. Sometimes I've not truly felt I had my question answered BUT I was satisfied in Christ.

The book of Habakkuk does not say that he had all of his whys answered but I do know from reading the end that he was satisfied. He was satisfied THROUGH Christ. We might not find all the answers to our WHYS but when we find God then we know the ONE that we can rejoice in and REJOICE is the key word here. REGARDLESS of whether our WHY is answered if we know CHRIST then we can be satisfied.

I want to encourage you this summer to take some time to read those "little books" of the Bible...AMAZING stories with nuggets of truth for us my friends. Don't just read it and mark it off of your too-list...Meditate on the living Word of God. You may get some ANSWER'S to your WHYS!

Hugs and blessings,
Cindy

  3. Cindy, thank you so much for touching on this issue of WHY. I've heard the same statement that you heard years ago. I, like you, agree that God is God and owes us no explanation. But I just could never buy into the idea that we couldn't ask Him why concerning something that is on our hearts or in our lives. I'm not talking about whining to Him, "Why me, Lord?" I'm talking about why about how some things have fallen into place, etc.. We are His children and as you pointed out about your little 4 year old, children do ask why of their parents and others, so it should not be forbidden of us to ask God why a certain thing happened. Thank you for sharing about the example of the disciples asking Jesus why. :) Proof positive, yes? You are a dear and I do love you and the heart you have for Jesus. xo

    1. We do Bible Study through the summer as well but we try to do stand alone lessons, or personal testimony sharing time and etc. This way for those that are on vacation or miss then they don't feel as though they have missed a lesson. I like it that way as I teach from August through May so come summer I need a little of a break but at the same time I have to stay in the Word....these little books of the Bible are working out great for me. Thanks for visiting with me today!

  6. All the books of the Bible are life-giving. That verse from Habakkuk is one of my favorites! What a statement of faith. I am reading Romans through Philemon this summer. Some of those books are little, but mighty! The "why" stage can be exhausting, yet it is how children learn.

  7. Hi Cindy, this is great and your lesson here so encouraging. I do believe we are meant to ask Why to learn. The Lord made us to be curious to ask, listen, learn and then share. Thank you for your little books tip too.

  9. Love the small books! I enjoyed your great message today. I have asked God 'why?' on many occasions, sometimes He opens my heart to understand 'why' and sometimes He doesn't. I just try to always remember, all things work together for our good...

  11. Hi there, Cindy! I am returning the visit. I had to laugh-- I have posted the very same line as a confessed dish-aholic! We must be kindred spirits because I never met a pretty plate I didn't like and yard sales call my name all the time :) Great finds, think the herb pot is my fav because I would use it the same way!

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Another Fun Filled Weekend}

I hope you all are doing well. I am trying to wind down for the night and thought I would try and get a post out. Girls, by this time I am in my fat clothes and recliner smashing that remote control!   Marty and I kicked off our weekend by having a little fun food as I call it,  "charcuterie" style out by the pond. Of course I always fix more than we need or eat but it sure was good.  Two of our granddaughters had dance recitals over the weekend so we got to watch them perform and oh my! They were just the cutest things ever.  We were blessed to be able to see them perform. Then we celebrated a birthday for this sweet grandgirl! She was excited about being double digits . And besides all the fun from the weekend I was able to see some of my pretties in bloom.  Now to enjoy a cup of coffee.... I hope that you all have a wonderful, blessed week.  Hugs and blessings, Cindy

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
