{March is well under way}

February days are now gone and March has officially kicked in.   I finally purchased a new monthly focus board.  We ventured out for a day date which included a movie. I love our day dates. I will give my honest review about the movie for those interested. I wanted to see this movie as it was based on a true story. I did enjoy the movie but oh my, it was a tear jerker from the get go! It ended good but mercy! Let's just say that I am thankful that no one was sitting close enough to see my tear stained face. I am glad that I saw it but I am good for a while on sad movies, even if they do end good!   My oldest daughter, her husband and their son participated in the Spartan race which is a series of obstacle courses that challenge. They done so well. As you can see from the pictures it gets pretty muddy!  My three daughters participate each year in the Gate River Run. I love it that they do this together. They have so much support & encouragement from all the onlookers. I am just

{Table For Two} July 4th Celebration

I hope that you all had a wonderful and safe July 4th Celebration. We had a quite 4th of July holiday with dining by the pond country style!

We hung a few decorations in the plum tree to set the tone....

 My humming bird feeder has been "humming" lately with those cute little things". Wish I could have gotten a picture of one of the humming birds.

Grabbed my centerpiece off of my dining room table for our outdoor dining.

Gathered up a few things needed to complete our tablescape.

 Love me some red, white and blue!

 YEAH, just because there was only two of us doesn't mean I don't cook! LOL!

 Slow cooked Boston butt pork roast with BBQ sauce sliders, potato salad, baked beans and cucumbers! YUM!

Now doesn't that look good?

 I gave my roast a good dose of my homemade rub and it sit for 24 hours before cooking. (Melt in your mouth)

 Of course we had to have dessert right?

 Pound cake with strawberries and cool whip.

We caught a few fish out of the pond to freeze and cook later.

Got lots of sugar off of this sweet grandgirl.

 Hee-hee....we had a few sparklers. Doesn't take much for us to be content.......

Yep, we celebrated this wonderful holiday that was a great reminder to us that Independence day is our Christian Heritage.

  Most wars have a motto. The motto of World War II was "Remember Pearl Harbor." The motto during the Texas war for independence was "Remember the Alamo." The spiritual emphasis, directed towards King George III who violated Gods laws, gave rise to a motto during the American Revolution: "No King but King Jesus." The thing is that our Founding Fathers passed the torch to us. It is our responsibility to not let it go out. So what have we done with our Christian heritage?

The question is; WHAT HAS HAPPENED? The answer:

Our Lord has surely been gracious and merciful to us there is no doubt.

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  1. Do you know, and I was just discussing this with fellow blogger, Bonnie, way up here in the great white north, they do not call Boston Butt. Boston Butt, the butcher looked at us like we lost our minds. SIGH.It def. is a southern thang.

    What a lovely post and that grandbaby is just a darling, I sure would hold her all day long, smiles. Have a joyful rest of the week, friend.

  14. I'm sorry I'm a day late in visiting. It seems life is really getting the best of me these days. It's a struggle sometimes. Oh, my mercy, how I would love to love on that baby girl. I do know it would be a battle with so many others wanting to do the same thing. ;-) She is beautiful, such a combo of her Momma and Daddy. Wish Jack and I could have sat down with you and Mr. Marty and shared a meal....that would have been sooooo nice, and much less stressful than the 4th we had...but I digress! :( Prayers appreciated for me and my Mom and Jack and our kiddos and did I say ME? LOL HOPE you have an awesomely blessed week, sweet Friend.

  15. Lovely tablescape and great food, looks like you had a great 4th! I had never heard the motto, "No King but King Jesus" Our founding fathers knew where to put their trust. It seems today's leaders don't understand that. Very sad.

  18. Hi Cindy. I thought I was over the 4th of July but your food and decorations are taking me right back there. Pork butt is one of our favorite things to smoke outside or slow cook in the oven. Yummy!

    Your granddaughter is beautiful. What a blessing!

    I'm really wondering about our USA these days too. I hope and pray that things can return to a gentler life.

  21. You amaze me with your creativity and thoughtfulness.
    All your efforts for just the TWO of you. I just got to step up my game, not to compete or out of envy, but because you brought such joy to your husband and you. I love that!
    As you said, you just gabbed and gathered things. Even if I don't have a center piece, I do have red napkins and a flag.
    Cindy, you got me thinking. I need to add more joy around this house. What better way to show my love, then to add some JOY.

  22. It looks like your family enjoyed a very special 4th of July. I love the pond and it was a perfect backdrop for your picnic. I live in MS and was born in FL. I know how hot the 4th of July can be, but it is so special to be able to enjoy the beauty of the Lord's world around us! Love the dark hair on that baby! My youngest, the one with the Nightmare Kitchen, has the darkest black hair like your grandbaby! Glad to have found a new blogging friend!

Yes, the Lord's beauty is all around us for sure and nothing reflects His beauty any better to me than the simplicity of nature. That sweet girl is our 5th grandbaby and we drool over her! LOL! Thanks for stopping by.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Another Fun Filled Weekend}

I hope you all are doing well. I am trying to wind down for the night and thought I would try and get a post out. Girls, by this time I am in my fat clothes and recliner smashing that remote control!   Marty and I kicked off our weekend by having a little fun food as I call it,  "charcuterie" style out by the pond. Of course I always fix more than we need or eat but it sure was good.  Two of our granddaughters had dance recitals over the weekend so we got to watch them perform and oh my! They were just the cutest things ever.  We were blessed to be able to see them perform. Then we celebrated a birthday for this sweet grandgirl! She was excited about being double digits . And besides all the fun from the weekend I was able to see some of my pretties in bloom.  Now to enjoy a cup of coffee.... I hope that you all have a wonderful, blessed week.  Hugs and blessings, Cindy

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
