{Girl Talk}

Nothing like discussing your favorite color of nail polish, right?

Let's have some girl talk today.  While we do some girl talk I will share a few pictures.

Girl Talk: What is one of those little pet peeves that irritates you about your spouse? And what is it about you that irritates him? NOW LETS ALL BE NICE. LOL!

Grandgirl dressed up for the 100th day of school. She is carrying her great-great grandmother's purse or as my granny would have said, "pocketbook".

My girl talk answer: When my man opens a pack of crackers and leaves them on the counter and does not seal them back! Yes, it's just a little thing but irritating nonetheless. One thing that irritates him is when I bring home another dish. He says I have a major issue with dishes. Truth is, he is right! My name is Cindy and I am dishaholic! There, I've admitted it.

Girl Talk: In today's culture, youth equals beauty. That's a statement that I read in a magazine. The article went on to basically say that in order for older women to maintain their youthful beauty they need a long list of beauty treatments. That list included tons of beauty treatments which included major and minor surgical procedures. What's your thoughts on this?
Love watching this grandson play basketballl.

Girl Talk Answer:   Y'all, we can try to stall and fake the effects of aging with creams and tucks and lifts and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that so do not misunderstand me. See here...I'd love to have some things a little perky, a lot lifted and a bunch covered. I am not saying that I would or I wouldn't do any of those things either. I've bought enough dang face cream to sink a battle ship and somehow or another when I look in the mirror I still look like I am about to have another birthday in February. I need all the help I can get! And yes you can bet I am going to do what I can do to look presentable. That's my personality and my nature. I was raised by a grandmother that fully believed that women should always care about the way they looked. Right or wrong to some, but that's how she felt and that's how I feel. But, here is the thing. If I am looking for my outer beauty to make me beautiful I am afraid I am in deep trouble. If the fact that I am no longer considered a woman of youth (which I am not)  defines my beauty then I really do have some issues and I am afraid the issues run deep.  ‘Our outer self is wasting away’ (2 Cor. 4:16). That's the truth and the whole truth.  Here's the thing friends, aging has a way of prying loose the fingers that have so tightly held onto the physical beauty of youth.  Us aging woman can no longer rely on our looks for happiness in friendships. We can’t count on our figure to get or to keep us a man. I heard a lady say once to a group of young women..."If you would quit striving so much to gain beauty then you wouldn't have to worry so much about keeping it".
God’s Word doesn’t deny or make light of the effects of aging though so many of our beauty treatments do. Instead, the Word says that growing old in God is a gift, a blessing….
EMBRACE IT!

Girl Talk:  How do you tend to handle your  bad emotions? Are you more of a "Get it off of my chest and just express it kinda girl? Or, do you tend to bottle it up? Or do you sit it on a while and think it through it before reacting?

Disney World might have Mickey and Minnie but Papa and Nana has lots of leaves to play in. (AND IT'S FREE)

Girl Talk Answer: Well I am going to be totally honest.  I once was that woman that quickly got the issue off of my chest. Then with more years under my belt I found myself at times bottling things up but only to explode later. Which is a very dangerous place to be to be honest. As I have aged and grown in the Lord I have really tried to think through it before reacting. Not always do I pass that test ladies. When it comes to my family I can totally mess that theory up.   To be honest, my very first reaction to dealing with bad emotions is to REACT! I have learned to pray through things because if I don't I will allow some bad emotions to wreak total havoc in my life. Physically, emotionally and spiritually.  Just keeping it real.

Girls, I have finally BROKE down and started cleaning out my She-Shed. Look what I found that I forgot I had? YES 4 plates and a lovely bowl I had bought from a yard sale! I am BROKE in the back too from this SHE-SHED mess and not through!HEE-HEE....more dishes. Shhhhhh.....I didn't tell my man I found more dishes.

Girl Talk:   With Valentines coming up soon and the expression is LOVE what is one thing that you love about your spouse if you have a spouse that you'd like to share with others.

Girl Talk Answer:  Since I can only name one thing then my answer would be that I love that my man is a family man in every sense of the word family. Family comes first to him. Always has and always will.

This beautiful bowl belonged to my grandmother. She called it her white fruit bowl but she always added, "you know, the bowl that has that pretty little gold rim on it". I just love it!

Girl Talk: Finish the sentence.
If I were a bird I would..........

I don't know about y'all, but I am about ready to see some flip flops on the beach and put some toes in the sand.
How about y'all?

Girl Talk Answer:
If I were a bird I would sit at someone's window today that was lonley, depressed and confused and I would sing a beautiful song in hopes to lift thier spirits.

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

P.S. Me and blogger are not getting along lately with the use of fonts. GRR!

  1. Loved seeing your family pictures. I love the 100 year old girl...I just saw where the kindergarten class did that here in our town. So cute and funny. My pet peeve, when Ted bring saw dust into the house on his clothes from the shop. Grrrr. Blessings to you. I love the new dish. :) xoxo, Susie

  2. I loved this post! I'll see if I can answer your questions:

Eric is a really, REALLY great guy. I can only ever think of one thing I've mentioned to him that bugs me sometimes, and that is that sometimes when I'm talking to him, he's thinking of something else and not even listening. lol If that's the only complaint I can find, I'm doing good!! Now with me...he gets bothered when I clam up and won't say anything in a not-so-happy moment. And he says sometimes I don't answer him, too, so...there ya go. lol

As far as beauty...I've seen some REALLY beautiful women on the outside that are NOT so beautiful on the inside. I am very rare in that I never notice things like people's clothing, hair style, etc. But I DO notice their eyes (as in, full of joy, empty, sad, etc.) and their demeanor. So, I think it's nice to try to look pretty, but it's way better to act it.

I handle my bad emotions by walking away, at least at first. I won't fight with someone, because it solves nothing. Eventually, after things have calmed down, if something needs sorted out, THEN I will discuss it. I'm not a real emotional person.

I LOVE the fact that Eric is a Godly man. Coming from where we both came from, it is really THE KEY in life, and it shows! He is always striving to please God; and in effect, he does everything the way he should--acts loving, patiently, caring, etc.

If I were a bird, I would...(Well, I love your answer! ha, ha.) fly to someplace warmer! Enough of winter! Bah humbug.

  3. Great post Cindy! I am a reacter! NUCLEAR!!! Then I hate it that I have upset the entire family. I used to be a hold it in and bottle it up never to say what I thought...ever. Then I hit this age that I just say whatever I feel. I'm working on getting control of this new me because I don't care for her at all right now. Love your pictures and your family! :)

  4. Cindy, you getting deep here girl and making me have to think about myself! LOL! Love the pictures. How neat that your grandgirl carried her great-great grandmother's purse to school. WOW! Love that bowl with the pretty gold rim too. Well, I am one that hates any kind of explosion and most often I try, and I say try, to pray through it before reacting. It takes a lot of discipline on my part. But as you know I was raised by a dad that displayed verbal abuse to my mother by exploding at everything. Beauty....well, I am what I am. However, I'd like to give some of these girls that wants BIGGER whatever some of what I have! LOL! Great post.

  8. Tom has a hard time following me when I use pronouns, "she" instead of the person's name. I am annoyed the way he leaves clothes on the floor. I'm interested in foundation. Some girls do not wear any, but I need a cover up for those aging spots and yet I have sensitive skin. So I think you should do a post of your favorite foundations, girlfriend. Because you're skin is sensitive like mine! I learned when I was so vulnerable those first two weeks after surgery how much Tom loved me. He was really there for me and very protective yet challenged me at the same time. What a blessing to our relationship, you know? He's a good spouse and really nice guy. Loving hugs from Arizona to you Cindy.

  9. Great food for thought Cindy and I so agree, our outer body cannot help but age, it's all a part of God's plan. Now, like you, I'm going to always do all that I can to look as good as I can but my greatest concern should be that I am the best I can be for HIM and His will for my life, all the days of my life. Enjoyable post!

  11. Don’t you love “cleaning out” one of your stashes?? It’s like opening Christmas presents! I bet we’ll see those dishes on a Valentine table soon! J has had a habit of rolling his dress socks up before putting them in the laundry. He never does his everyday socks this way, just the dress ones. Over the last couple of months I’ve asked him to stop doing this, I have to unroll them before washing them. Well, he kept forgetting and I’d tease him about (to try to help remind him). He’s come up with a silly system that works now but it involves place these socks in unusual places in the laundry room! Now you know my laundry room is small so I don’t have any problem finding them but I have to laugh everytime I walk by and he’s hid them in such goofy places. He a creative guy!

As far as holding back time, I like to update my clothes and hairstyle periodically but as far as cosmetic surgery or lots of expensive potions, nope. I’m a lot wiser after all of these years and I want people to see that as well as hear it (when asked!). I’ve been MIA last week finishing up a quilt for a group I’m in. Heading over to your post from last week, Hope you’re ready for February! Z

  12. That is funny about the socks! LOL! I saw the quilt is is beautiful! What a wonderful cause as well that you ladies do that for. I know our veterans appreciate it too. Yes, I used those dishes last night actually. I wish I could find 4 more plates like that. I need more dishes you know! LOL!

  13. Cindy, what a delightful post. I am right there with you with the dishes...LOL My husband says the same thing to me. He says, every cupboard has plates, Funny about your She-shed. Your dishes are beautiful. I have forgotten about some things I have bought as well, especially after the holidays. I buy something on sale and put it away and forget all about it. I think looking your best is very important. You look beautiful and your heart is beautiful as well. Hugs to you.

  14. Great post! I love girl talk so here goes....1. when I am hormonal EVERYTHING bothers me! Usually though it's the answer "I forgot" to almost everything I have asked him not to do (ie.leaving wet towels on the wood floor!) He is bothered by my leaving lights on and turning the heat up! 2. I have come to terms with aging, realizing I can't do much more about it. I take care of my skin, etc. with creams and lotions but I would never have surgery. The fact that my friends tell me all the time I don't look my age has helped me accept it but I still DO NOT like how I look in pictures...they just emphasize the age. Every year at my birthday I get a new ailment...that doesn't help trying to come to terms with it all! 3. I think for me it depends on what has gotten me mad or sad. Sometimes I react right away, other times I stew in it and replay it in my head. That really is not good but hard to stop.4.My husband is the true biblical man of God when it comes to me. He is self-sacrificing and attentive. I call him my Knight in Shining Armor. 5.If I were a bird I would travel all over the country to see all the scenery I long to see and may never do by plane or car. Love all of your grandkid pictures! Those dishes are gorgeous as is the milk glass bowl. I would grab those up at a thrift store for my shop. I am so longing for flip flop weather...only after a pedicure! I love visiting you!

    1. What a precious thing to say about your husband. I know what you mean though. Mine is the same way. But he always has been and also the same by his children. My girls tell me all the time that "daddy spoils you so bad". And I say, "He sure does". LOL! I hope to find at least 4 four plates to match the 4 I have. I love them.

  15. Hi Cindy, What a fun visit for girl talk. Your grands are adorable. Well here goes some answers. One thing I just don't get or understand that my hubby does, is to button up and zip his trousers or pants when he puts them in the laundry. haha we laugh about that all the time. Maybe something his mother did, I don't know! Overall he is close to perfect in my eyes and he says that about me. I fall in love with him all over again when I see him kneel to pray bedside. He is a prayer warrior and together we lead a prayer life everyday!! As far as aging, I do my face cleaning routine every night faithfully and always add eye cream. I was a skin care specialist for a time and I learned that going to bed with makeup on can age you faster then anything else in the elements. My friends and strangers always think I'm 10 years younger then I really am. I'll take it and say thank you!! Wearing sunscreen everyday is a must too.
Oh yes, I am a dishaholic for sure. Hubby will say, did you really need that or do you just want that???? haha!! I used to fly off the handle and react to upsets when I was younger in a negative way. Growing older has softened my edges and I think about what or how I should say things now and for that change I am deeply grateful. Wiser in what the Lord would want for me to do or how to react. Sometime I slip up but hey I'm only human right!!!
If I were a bird, I would fly up to heaven and have a visit with my dear mother and dad and grandmother. I miss them all so much!!

Wishing you a beautiful last day of January and great month ahead. February is my birthday month too. Hugs and Joys. xoxo

  16. Mr D always fills his coffee cup too full, and leaves coffee splatters all over the floor. That is so aggravating, I fuss at him all the time. I know he gets aggravated with me because I'm a back-seat driver, yes I am!! But when it's all said and done, I wouldn't trade him for the world! He is my soulmate. After 55+ years together we've learned to laugh through it all.

  17. Wow...you sure packed a lot of great stuff into this post! I, as well think it's important for a woman to look as good as she can. What I have always said about myself is "I try to make the best out of a bad situation"...LOL! Seriously, you are so right... if we just fix ourselves up on the outsides and don't work on the insides, sooner than later, it's gonna be very obvious! No going under the knife for me but if they ever come up with something in a bottle or tube that doesn't cost you an arm and leg, I would certainly give it a try! Fun, fun post today!

  25. Hi Cindy! My husband is very chatty, and sometimes that drives me nuts. For him, the fact that I'm so quiet makes him batty. Lol! We are quite a pair of 'opposite attracts'. And Coke isn't the only bottler around. I bottle up my feelings a lot too, but I'm trying to even out my reactions by realizing that the Lord is in it all. I don't have to worry or press anything down. He'll help me take care of it.

  27. Oh Cindy, this post is just chock full of great stuff... first love the dishes, I am with you on that! I have to stay out of the stores, that's the only way, ha! We downsized to live in this tiny home, and it can only hold so much, but oh my, it is hard! Oh your questions... on beauty, definitely I take care of my skin, and have always been told I look much younger than my age, I have a very youthful face, but now with a few wrinkles, ha! My husband is the sweetest, kindest man ever, and I'm having to think about what I could share about him that I would change, and I can't quite come up with anything, he's just a such a good man, and like your husband, family is everything to him too. If I was a bird and could fly anywhere, I would love to see the rest of this beautiful world we live in, from a bird's point of view, it would be quite amazing. I wouldn't mind a stop at a beach either, lol!
