{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu

{Celebrating birthdays and Eating Cake}

  I shared with you last week that I was making cakes and freezing them for upcoming birthdays so today we reaped the harvest of two birthdays being celebrated. My soninlove David celebrated his 40th and my oldest granddaughter Raygen celebrated her 17th.  (David and his beautiful family) Of course I let my granddaughter pick her birthday meal and it was fried chicken, green beans, corn, macaroni and cheese, rolls, and deviled eggs.  We had quite a good Sunday lunch. But, we usually do because I cook most every Sunday for my family. LOL!  I went by to visit her at work as she works PT at their gym and I carried her balloons to help make her day extra special.  Her birthday cake was a hit. I tried a new recipe as she requested a homemade vanilla cake and homemade chocolate icing. So, she got a 4 layer vanilla cake with all the trimmings. The cake was more the consistency a pound cake but it was hit.  A little homemade chocolate sauce with Reese Peanut cups and chocolate icing added the

{Going Down Memory Lane}

I've been trying to clean out some old files on my computer and ran across several pictures of when I seemed to do a little crafting! Ran across this picture of this cute wagon that I decorated some years ago. Maybe 6 or 7 years ago. Mercy, I can't remember now. It was for my granddaughter as she was going to be in a wedding. I still have the scars from the hot glue gun and pin marks from using a needle and thread. 😳 I have no clue how long it ago it was when I jumped on the "tin can" wagon. This was the first little tin can I decorated and it sat on my desk and held pens and pencils for a long time. I remember that Marty swore I cooked way more than I needed too just so I could save the CANS ! This was the first one I ever tried my hand at. Later on I winded up hosting a bridal shower with a rustic theme and I had CANS painted and decorated out the ying-yang! I need to find those pictures.  Decorating tin cans is still very popular and so many ways to decorate and

{Birthday, Cakes and Bread}

This sweet sweet granddaughter just celebrated her 9th birthday. I know y'all, seems my tribe has a birthday every month and well, we just about do!  Kyleigh brings our family so much joy. She has the sweetest and most loving personality ever.  This child never meets a stranger and loves with her whole heart.    Our family celebrated her birthday with a little party but then she got to spend the day  at the beach with her cousin. Oh the days of bikinis and eating what you wanted too................ I took a day to bake cakes to freeze for upcoming birthdays and well, maybe a Sunday dinner. Yep, we have another family birthday coming up this month.  I love baking fresh bread and haven't baked any in a while so decided on a loaf of fresh rosemary bread. Gathered some rosemary from my herbs and whipped up a loaf. The worst part is waiting on it to rise. But I was painting a new pump house my husband built so the time went by p
