{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{Going Down Memory Lane}

I've been trying to clean out some old files on my computer and ran across several pictures of when I seemed to do a little crafting! Ran across this picture of this cute wagon that I decorated some years ago. Maybe 6 or 7 years ago. Mercy, I can't remember now. It was for my granddaughter as she was going to be in a wedding. I still have the scars from the hot glue gun and pin marks from using a needle and thread. 😳

I have no clue how long it ago it was when I jumped on the "tin can" wagon. This was the first little tin can I decorated and it sat on my desk and held pens and pencils for a long time. I remember that Marty swore I cooked way more than I needed too just so I could save the CANS! This was the first one I ever tried my hand at. Later on I winded up hosting a bridal shower with a rustic theme and I had CANS painted and decorated out the ying-yang! I need to find those pictures.  Decorating tin cans is still very popular and so many ways to decorate and use them.

These coasters were fun to make. Years ago I had a ladies luncheon at my home and invited some younger women to be my guests. My theme was "When life hands you lemons make lemonade". I bought the tiles at Home Depot, gave them a rough sanding and then found a print I liked on line and printed it out. The modge podge began and I loved how they turned out.

I gave each of my guest a mason jar with a lemon inside, packet of lemonade, a straw and a scripture attached. I still remember how fun that little luncheon was. Those were the days when it seemed people weren't as busy and time spent with one another was important.

This was the first "candy bouquet" I had ever made. Since then I've made several but I remember making this one for my oldest granddaughter. Who doesn't like candy and a little jewelry?

I ran across several pictures of cakes I had made and remember loving this girly girl cake. This three tier cake took me all day to do!

Of course the Unicorn cake is one I just made last year but this cake was so much fun to make. It was for a granddaughter. Who doesn't love unicorns?

This little birthday smash cake was the cutest and the crazy thing is that this cake has been pinned so many times. It was such a simple cake but cute as could be.

Found some cute pictures of a few of my favorite vignette's

And my favorite Valentine Tree. {Hearts and Heels}

Going back through some pictures I had taken years ago began to bring back memories. Oh my! Some of these children are no longer "little's" anymore.

I even got pretty creative with a few pictures.

This picture melts my heart though every single time I see it. I snapped this totally by accident after one of my granddaughter's birth. Her dad reached over and picked up her little hand and YES, I just so happen to have camera in hand.

This particular picture was always so cool to me. The main reason is because we actually had this picture on one of our trail camera's.

The magic of glitter....Do y'all how many times we had to take a picture before we got just the right one with the glitter?

THIS! This was the parents of a friend of mine and my friend lost her dad some years back. She recently lost her dear mom. When I came across this sweet and precious picture I sent it to her.

This was another one of my favorite pictures. It just simply speaks "The Simple Life"

I DISLIKE cleaning up files but it sure was nice to go down memory lane a bit.

My sister and I finally got to see our mom for the first time since March. She is a resident at one of our local Nursing and Rehab facilities. Our mom has dementia and some other health issues. We've been able to visit with her by phone since COVID began. We opted out of trying to visit with her by way of standing at her window or visiting with her through the door as it seemed to cause her more anxiety as she could not and still cannot grasp the WHY of it all. Of course we had to remain in the vehicle, keep our mask on and have our temps taken. But, at least we were able to do that much. Our visit was to be 10 minutes but the sweet nurse gave us at least 15 minutes. Mom did not recognize us. The mind is a very powerful thing.....
We can't go back until after August 10th. But, we are thankful that we had the opportunity to see her. If you have a free minute would you lift her up to the Lord? Her name is Billie.

I don't know if I have ever shared my "LIFE" verse with you all. Every year I pray for a Word for the year as many of you know. My word for this year has been EMBRACE and I could probably write a small novel on this one! But, I too have a "Life" verse that the Lord gave me in 1994. That's another story for another day but it's my verse that I claim over my life.

My pastor recently made the remark that no matter what happens to us as Christians on this earth that NO ONE CAN TAKE JESUS FROM OUR HEARTS! They may can take our freedom away, our building that we worship together in, our livelihood, our everything. But they can't take Jesus out of your heart! That is pretty powerful to me. But It reminded me of my "life verse" Nothing can separate me from the love the Lord has for me.

And while going down memory lane I decided to make myself a little stir fry....

I hope that you all have a wonderful week and remember, "Seek justice, love mercy, walk humbly with your God". Micah 6:8

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  2. Hi Cindy, I sure did enjoy my visit here this early morning. You are a crafty lady like me. I use to organize the teas for our Women's ministry and loved making gifts to pass out. Loved all your wonderful pictures too! Made me hungry! I am glad you got to see your mom. I will keep her in prayer. I lost my mom 10 years ago to Alzheimers. I finally got to the beach on Friday and posted a couple of picks. It felt so good to be there! Have a great week!

  3. So glad you got to visit with your Mom. It has to hurt that she didn't recognize you. Mom has dementia, too, but hasn't gotten to that stage yet. Heartbreaking, Cindy. I loved all of your photos. I actually remembered the little Valentine tree. ♥ I love your life verse! Hope you have a great week. Love you, Friend. 💜

    1. Deb, Even before COVID she could not remember if I came on a certain day or if my sister had came but she always knew who we were when we were there. She may would forget soon as we left but....I noticed her hearing was worse as well. But we did have to wear masks and a pretty good distance from her as we had to remain in the car. Hopefully when we go again it will be a little better for her. I just don't know. But God is on the throne for sure. Yes, I always did love my Heels and Heart tree!

  4. Oh, now I totally understand why your blog is "Creations by Cindy". You are one very talented lady! What a blessing! Loved all your photos and all the lovely things you created. What a gift. I am so sorry that you are unable to actually visit with your Mom. That has to be so hard for you and your family, and perhaps for her it is a blessing that she really doesn't understand what is going on and therefore doesn't think about it too much. But oh, the heartache for you. My heart goes out to you. I've told my hubby a few times that I was thankful his mother had passed on before all this happened, as she was also in a nursing home the last year of her life, and it would have been so hard to not be able to see her. (((hugs))) to you dear friend. Thank you for sharing all of this...and yes, I love your life verse. That one is a keeper! Have a blessed and beautiful week.

  6. This is SUCH A BEAUTIFUL blog post, Cindy (as all of yours are). Your creativity is delightful and over so many areas. Back in the day, I did a lot of crafts, too, but yours are the best!

    Thank you for sharing about your mother. My sister and I are in much the same situation with our mother, too. Dementia, nursing home, restrictions, lack of understanding.... all of that.

    Your post this morning has blessed me. Thank you for all you have given to us today! Go about your day knowing you have been an encouragement to us.

  12. Oh, Cindy! Thinking about the way you haven't gotten to see your Mom in so long and then having to visit her in such a state just made me cry! This is all so horrible. I have thought many times how grateful I am that my Mom and Daddy are in Heaven with Jesus, and they do not have to go through this awful time. It would distress them terribly, and if I couldn't get to them to see them and hug them and take care of them, I just couldn't take it. It is so pitiful how your Mom was so anxious over it all and not understanding why she couldn't get to you. SO, so sad. All of it. Dear Lord, help us all, and come quickly, Lord Jesus!

    1. It is very sad that so many can't see their family or friends right now. I am just thankful she is being cared for as best as can be for sure. What is truly heartbreaking is some of her friends do not suffer with dementia and they are totally grieving over the companionship of family yet have no family to even call and check on them. So very sad and hearbreaking. Then there are some that do have family and friends but it's like, "Out of sight, out of mind". Only God, Only God. Thank you Cheryl.

  19. Memories, memories.....I love to go through memories like that. I have been doing a lot of it myself as I cont to unpack things from my move. Recently I found my daughter and son's baby blankets, not that I did not know where they were but in my little house I had things stuffed here and there and nothing was together cause there was NO STORAGE. But I have put each ones blanket in a plastic container with the outfit they came home in and it is marked with their names on them. It seems like since moms passing I have been going through memories for 1.5 yrs now. I am sorry about your mom, that is an ugly thing to have. I know it has been hard on you and your sis not being able to see her. That would kill me. Your crafts are perfect and the pics are adorable.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
