{May Has Arrived}

  I sure hope that your May has kicked off to a good start. The heat is settling in quick around our parts.  We've kicked off May with watching our softball girls win the District. Next week we start another round of ball. It's so much fun to watch these girls and especially our girl, Mallory. She plays centerfield.  We were so proud of both teams that played against each other. They all, hand in hand gathered together as one of our girls prayed for the game and also for one of our young men that was in a horrific car accident and fighting. His name is Kaden if you can think to lift him up to our Lord.  I had the opportunity recently to speak to a group of women at a ladies luncheon event at a local church. Oh we had so much fun. I wished I had gotten pictures of the beautiful decorations. We had a TEA PARTY and we each kept the cup that we drank out of it.  Isn't she just lovely? Easter has come and gone but we sure have a great time with family. We gather each...

{It's almost February}

We are about to in February y'all and do you know what that means? Well, for starters February will kick off my birthday month but it's our annual Mountain getaway for two ! YEP, my three daughters pout every year because they can't go but we didn't make it to 46 years without truly guarding some of our precious time. I wish these younger couples would learn to GUARD some of their precious time.   For today, I will share a few flashbacks from my week.    One of my elementary long time friends gave me some of her beautiful Meyer lemons. This is the 2nd batch that she has shared with me. I have juiced so many and frozen for treats and recipes. I just love all things lemon. I had a batch of apples that needed to be used so made a fresh apple and walnut pound cake. Saved half of it and froze it for our upcoming mountain trip. The other half didn't last long round here with my tribe. Made a big pot of  sausage and potato soup in which my oldest granddaughter loves. ...

{A Little Fall Going On}

Good Sunday afternoon. I have been so slack this past week in making a post which I only do once a week! I'm also behind on visiting too. I've seen to stay so busy as of late and other things have surely grabbed my attention. Maybe I can keep up this week. LOL!  I did manage to get my table decorated for Fall. Now, if we would ONLY get some Fall temps I would be happy! And...my sweet Fatherinlove always notices my table when he comes to eat with us every Tuesday night. That makes me happy.  I just love this tiered tray that I found at a Goodwill store for $1.99. It sure has served many purposes.  My handed down old dough bowl from my great-grandmother brings me much joy. I've used that dough bowl for lots of decorating. My great-grandmother and my grandmother made many a pan of biscuits using this bowl. I will try and share my Fall tree and some of my fall decor in living room next week. It's hard to decorate for Fall y'all when it's so stinking hot isn't it...

{The Happenings Of Life }

  Good Sunday Afternoon everyone. I hope you all are doing well and enjoying each day to its fullest. I wanted to share a few things that I have managed to accomplish this week. I am telling y'all, the retired life will keep ya busy! LOL! I usually keep a little corner chair in this spot as most know and I decorate it but decided to use a little serving tray stand instead and dress it up a bit.  I love my cute little teapot. I found it years ago at a thrift store for $3 and it sure has brought me lots of joy using it over the years.  My sweet FIL who eats with us every Tuesday night kept asking me when I was going to "dress my table up again" . I love it that he notices when I don't DRESS it up. So kept it simple but I must say I love the simplicity of it. My FIL will be happy to see my table all dressed up. I come up with a little quick yummy lunch using the air fryer this week. I love using things that I have on hand in my frig. or pantry and these things I had on ...

{Fall Tablescape}

I decided to battle the heat once again and grab some goodies from my She Shed to put together a little Fall Tablescape . I knew exactly what I wanted to use for my centerpiece this season, my granny's dough bowl . She was handed down this heirloom from her mama, my great-grandmother, who passed away when I was 9 years old.  I remember her so very clearly. A tiny little petite woman that loved her snuff.  LOL!  I can remember her carrying her snuff can in the pocket of her apron. Once while visiting her she told me that she had some pretties for me to put in my purse. Of course she called it a pocketbook. She gave me colored tissue that was sitting on her dresser for my little black "pocketbook" . The reason it held such a special place in my granny's heart was because her daddy, my great-grandfather carved and made this dough bowl. When she passed it onto me I was thrilled. My great-grandfather passed away when I was only two years old. I would have loved to have hea...

{Getting my Spring and Easter On}

Don't you love my little truck????? Decided in the midst of all the scares and negativity we have going on that I would set my table for Spring-Easter. I wanted a simple table with a little fun but yet a tad of elegance and I think I succeeded in all three areas. I mean who doesn't like Easter eggs? And pretty tea cups? And, touches of pastel never fail during Spring-Easter. I adore my Bunny tea pot. I was gifted her in 2000 and I put her out on display every year. I added just a few touches here and there of vintage Easter along with a miniature tea cup that belonged to my late motherinlove. And you talk about smell good! Now that Cotton and Freesia from Bath and Body surely makes you want to wash your hands a lot! A thrifted bed sheet sure made a pretty colorful tablecloth too. Another aspect of our weekend was meat processing. My FIL helped Marty and we sure enjoyed a good deer steak that night. GIRLS, WE MIGHT RUN OUT OF TOILET...
