{May Has Arrived}

  I sure hope that your May has kicked off to a good start. The heat is settling in quick around our parts.  We've kicked off May with watching our softball girls win the District. Next week we start another round of ball. It's so much fun to watch these girls and especially our girl, Mallory. She plays centerfield.  We were so proud of both teams that played against each other. They all, hand in hand gathered together as one of our girls prayed for the game and also for one of our young men that was in a horrific car accident and fighting. His name is Kaden if you can think to lift him up to our Lord.  I had the opportunity recently to speak to a group of women at a ladies luncheon event at a local church. Oh we had so much fun. I wished I had gotten pictures of the beautiful decorations. We had a TEA PARTY and we each kept the cup that we drank out of it.  Isn't she just lovely? Easter has come and gone but we sure have a great time with family. We gather each...

Wedneday in the Word-Breaking Bread Together

Ooh...I love fresh baked bread don't you?  There is no better smell than that of bread baking in the oven. Except for eating it together with friends. The early Christians came together regularly for common meals, which included the breaking of bread. In Acts the scripture refers to them having “everything in common,” and this no doubt included sharing meals together, each one receiving from the others what they needed. Acts 2:46 describes them breaking bread in their homes and this was exactly what we done at the home of a sister in the Lord that certainly has the gift of hospitality! Another observance of "breaking bread" is when we as Christians observe the Lord's Supper . This memorial of our Lord is called "the Lord's Supper" in 1 Corinthians 11:20 and "the Lord's table" in 1 Corinthians 10:21 . In 1 Corinthians 10:16 it is referred as " the breaking of bread" and " communion ". ...

How About A Little Green?

Have you got your green on today?  Me and my girls   Aren't these the cutest Leprechaun shoes ever???? YUM...Green popcorn.... Don't you just love my great-nieces St. Patrick's Day braid? Everything green at our Conner's Shamrock Bash! Including a birthday cake for my 9 year old grandson! Awe.,..plain and simple St. Patty's Day tablescape. These shamrock stones has served me well. I bought several years ago in the mountains from the Dollar Tree. It's a shame I guess when you can't even go to the MOUNTAINS without stopping at the Dollar Tree or Walmart. LOL! These goblets has got to my all time favorites! YEP, that would be pony tail holders for my napkin rings from Big Lots.  I have got to tell you this little story about the green decanter with cups. Our first Christmas together as husband and wife needless to say we were dirt poor! We had a local 5 and 10 cents store and if you shopped ANYWHERE you sho...

Wednesday in the Word-One thing is Needed

  Web image I don't know about you but for me it seems that everywhere I turn a listening ear there is news that someone I know is sick. I am not talking about a cold, the flu, a virus but I am talking about health issues that are life threatening.  Makes me so sad when I get a phone call, email or facebook message that someone else is battling for their life. But the truth is that "Life is Life" and it will end for each and every one of us.  Every one of us has a body that will someday fail us---and that someday is not necessarily too far off.  With just recently loosing a sweet sister in the Lord to cancer and then receiving the news last night that a sweet sister in the Lord and friend from my church had called hospice for her husband I was sharply reminded of how desperately I want my life----indeed each and every day of it. Each and every minute of it.  And for me it seems that as I get older the more I look back and the more I think and po...

My Happy!

SMILE....TODAY IS A NEW DAY! Just sharing a few things that make me happy!  Awe yes...homemade biscuits from scratch rolled out by hand.  My granny made every single pan of biscuits from scratch. I can remember her having a large tin can that she kept her flour in with her sifter tucked away neatly in a cabinet. I remember as a little girl standing in a chair to watch her make biscuits. I was always amazed at how she would knead and knead that dough and then she would roll the dough in between the two palms of her hands, place them on the iron skillet pan and make her knuckle prints in them. She would save just enough dough to make a little tiny biscuit and that ONE was mine. (of course she done this for all the grands but I thought she only done it just for me) I never could quite master the art of my granny's biscuit making. My sister Mary could make her biscuits look and taste like granny's though. My favorite part of all is the Iron skillet pan ! It ...

Wednesday in the Word-What does "HURT" look like?

 Web image I am not talking about being physically hurt. I am talking about being emotionally, mentally and/or spiritually hurt. Many people that we come in contact with are hurting and hiding their hurt. For a lot of people it isn't easy for them to convey to others their hurts. And can I be just be honest? For some people we'd rather they not convey their hurts because it seems to be a way of life for them.I am sure we have all encountered those that tend to thrive on "there is always something wrong". But for most people I'd be willing to say that a high percentage walk around daily with hearts that are hurting and no one ever notices.  May I say that so many times that we are so busy that we tend to become immune to those with a hurting heart. We are only " sensitive " when the hurt is ours! And truthfully most often times it is our own difficulties in life that help us to become more sensitive to others. For me personally it is easy for...

Shrimp and Grits

I have been wanting to make some Shrimp and Grits and all I can say is.........YUM, YUM, YUM! A friend posted this on her Facebook page and needless to say I grabbed that baby right up! I knew I had to make it. Okay now for the step by step. EASY PEASY! Thaw out one bag of deveined and peeled frozen shrimp. Next: Take one bunch of green onions, wash, and dice up. Then take 3 cloves of garlic and dice and some fresh parsley and dice.  I still have parsley growing and it was great to pick from your own little herb garden. Mix all 3 together in one bowl and sit aside. Take a whole pack of bacon and dice it up in bite size pieces and fry it. **I cooked my bacon in the oven** simply because I did not want the MESS on my stove... (I despise all that popping) After it cooks drain the grease from the bacon and place the grease in your frying pan. Set aside the chopped bacon. Get ready to make your grits now! Make 2 cups of 5 minutes quick grit...
