It's a tad late to wish a Happy New Year but I sure hope that it's kicked off good for everyone. Ours kicked off with being so THANKFUL for what God has done and is doing. As I told my family as we were reminiscing over 2024, "There is a lot of 2024 I DO NOT WANT A RE-DO but the Lord has surely taught me so very much. I am truly thankful for each breath, each day, family and close friends. We had our three youngest grands for New Years Eve. We had a great time and the girls enjoyed a little fishing, bonfire with their great-grandfather and roasting marshmallows. Their great-grandfather will be 90 years old next month. As most of you know I do a monthly focus board and this makes my 3rd or 4th year. I've lost count. Only fitting that New Beginnings would be my focus for January. This has been so good for me as it sits on my kitchen counter so I can see it daily. Wonderful way to focus and quote God's Word daily. I felt up to hosting a lunch and movie day with ...
I wish I had a dollar for every time someone asked me after reading my blog name, "What do you CREATE? LOL!
Well, there is a little story behind the blog name. Years ago I did photography on the side. I've always enjoyed photography and ever since I can remember I've had a camera of some kind or another in my hands. Later in life, my Photography business simply became "Creations by Cindy". I had a website for a long time. When I decided to do a blog it all started out because of the photography so that is how it became "Creations by Cindy". I've never wanted to go through the hassle of changing it so decided to keep it. And....it kinda suits me because you never know what I might be creating. It might be a picture, a meal, a craft, a tablescape or something.
I am a jack of all trades and a master of none!
And when it comes to a camera you never know what I might be snapping a picture of.....
There came a time that I was burning the midnight oil as they say trying to schedule pictures, edit, and all that good stuff that goes along with it and that doesn't count the time I would spend to try and learn the latest techniques. When my grandbabies began to come along it became obvious that my photography would be of our babies. Snapping a picture of them here and there keeps me plenty busy with photography.
Matter of fact I will give you a sneak peek of our youngest grandgirl that will be celebrating her 1st birthday this coming Sunday.
Isn't she just a doll?
One more....guess I better not post any more of her before I show them to her mama. LOL!
I was the photographer that preferred outside pictures any day of the week. Still am!
No matter how simple the picture may be, fun pictures are always the best.
I love doing a collage that that captures the personality.
Anytime there is water somewhere in the picture it is bound to turn out sweet.
And then when you just happen to capture a sweet little face like this...well, what can I say.
I was actually photographing a wedding and had sat down for a minute and turned to see this sweet little gal looking at me smiling! Of course, I had to snap!
And oh this sweet little thing right here will be 13 years old in a few weeks. WOW...
And this little guy just celebrated his 11th birthday! What happened to these babies?
I can remember photographing this little guy to this day. He smiled the entire time and never cried not one time.
Sometimes I would get on this kick of adding a touch of magic...
This little "Creations by Cindy" actually won best creative idea on a Photography Blog once and I received a $50 gift card to a Photo lab and I got bragging rights on the blog! LOL!
Maybe in the next few weeks, I will share a few wedding pictures with you too. I was often told that my specialty seemed to be with kids photography but in all honesty, I loved to take pictures of old barns, churches, old buildings, and well, pretty much anything outside that caught my eye. Weddings always left me drained but at the same time, if this makes sense, I felt truly happy that I had helped to make the couple's special day by getting a few keepsakes for them. But weddings was truly hard work and long hours. Family pictures at times was a challenge especially large families. Mainly because there usually winded up being at least three women that all thought they needed to be the boss and four to six children that took turns peeing, pooping, crying, throwing a temper tantrum, getting a spanking and well......
YES....I will just stick to my grandbabies now. LOL!
I have become lazy using my camera since it's so easy to just snap a picture with my cell phone camera. Even when using my big boy as my man calls my camera, I've become lazy using manual and changing out the speed and aperture and all that good stuff. So easy to put it on AUTO and go! My very first photo class was a college class and I learned how to develop black and white pictures. I still have a few old film canisters laying around somewhere.
But I can truly say that a PICTURE PAINTS A THOUSAND WORDS. Every picture tells a story of some kind.
I am looking forward to the revealing party with Stephanie when we all will reveal our Tea Cup and Mug exchange next week so stay tuned. Hop over and visit the lovely Stephanie from The Enchanting Rose. http://theenchantingrose.blogspot.com/

Hugs and blessings, Cindy
What beautiful photos and your grands are just beautiful!! I get a kick out of the chubby baby at the bottom...what a cute little chunk of personality. Thanks for sharing your 'creations' here today. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteDiana,I will never forget photographing that little chunky cutie. He was the most pleasant baby ever. I found out quickly that NOT all little ones was as pleasant. LOL!
DeleteLove these pictures. YES your granddaughter is a doll indeed. I cannot believe she is a year old now. Cindy, I would say your specialty is kids too!
ReplyDeleteConnie Royals
Connie, it just seems like last week that our youngest grandbaby was born! Well, now my grands are my specialty. LOL! My friend Janice says she can tell when I use the GOOD CAMERA...it's always of my grands that the pics turn out the best. TRUE!
DeleteOh my, what a sweet blessing that "big boy" camera is! We've got an older digital camera, but I'm convinced my newer iPhone takes better shots! Both my son and my son-in-law have professional photography equipment, so I leave those shots to them. Your work is really beautiful -- you've got a great eye for space, color, content and proportion! :)
ReplyDeleteWell thank you my friend . I appreciate the compliment .
DeleteWell that was very interesting. I'd love to see more of your photography!
ReplyDeleteThanks Vee .
DeleteI sure could use some pointers, on how to take great pictures, (hint hint).
ReplyDeleteYou have a talent and it shows in all of your "Creations".
Awe thanks Christine . I need to carry my camera to the shop as there's some things that need to adusted so I can take better pictures . But have put it off . But as for taking pictures , it's all trial and error and boy do I make lots of mistakes !
DeleteYou always, always make me smile...I wish I had your energy, sweet friend. smiles
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful day, Cindy.
Linda I don't seem to have the energy I used too for sure 😳
DeleteCindy, it is fun to know the backstory on your blog name. Beautiful photographs of your grands. Have a beautiful day, my friend'
ReplyDeleteGood morning, lovely Cindy! I hope you are well, dear friend. I have certainly missed visiting your blog during the last two weeks :)
ReplyDeleteI must say that I thoroughly enjoyed your post and oh, what stunning photos. You are quite talented with the camera.
Have a beautiful day! Hugs!
Awe Stephanie, glad you enjoyed some time away. And in the midst of everything I see you have new additions to the family! Good to see you back.
DeleteYou always take beautiful portraits!! My first photography class was in high school and I learned how to develop black and white film. I was hooked!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather. I remembering loving working with the black and white in the dark room. I took several classes over the years but I must say, nothing beats hands on.
DeleteGirl, you take amazing pictures.
I just knew it...you're a pro! I have always loved your creativity, especially your photos. Thank you for sharing them and especially your heart along with it! Sending a hug!
ReplyDeleteLOL Sweet Mary. Not sure I'd say a pro...but I think If I had of made it a full time job at a much younger age I could have PRO. Never enough time nor energy. Thanks for stopping by. I loved your story this morning btw.
DeleteOh Cindy, reading your blog was like reading about me....I have always had a camera all my life then I picked up a Nikon professional camera and life changed. I got it for a hobby, just for me but within 3 months I was asked to shoot a wedding. Over the years I have done several and then I got into senior class pics. I love doing shoots but I have taken weddings over my plate due to the fibromyalgia. I have done shoots inside but I prefer by far the natural look of the photos done out in nature. I love doing it but like you, the cell phone is so much easier to care around and you have it with more often then not. I enjoyed looking at your pics and thank you so much for sharing. Come back by and don't be a stranger on my blog. I do crafts, photography and as you could tell I am an artist. I prefer oils but it seems I have fallen into acrylics more these days....dry faster and for the deck that is what I needed. Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteI was always a Canon girl Pam but over the years I have wanted a Nikon. But the Nikon I want just seems way too much to justify the cost at this stage of the game. I do seriously need to get my Canon worked on a little. Might need to do that as SOON as I get through with the oldest grandgirl's upcoming birthday photo shoot. LOL!
DeleteI always admire someone that can use a huge camera with all the settings like in your picture. How fun to have so many sweet subjects to photograph. I used to help my sister do flowers for weddings so I know how exhausting and what hard work it is!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait Ann Marie to see your creations with your new camera. YES, any of it is hard work and most often long hours and underpaid!
DeleteYour grands are all just so darling, Cindy, and they make for the best subject matter. It's hard to believe how quickly the kids grow up, isn't it? Thank you for explaining how your blog name came about. I sure wish you could teach me some lessons, Cindy! Blessings, Kitty
ReplyDeleteAwe Kitty, if we lived closer I'd snap a few pics of your adorable grands for you!
DeleteYour photography is amazing! I did not know that you had previously specialized in this field so thank you for sharing! It is always fun to learn new things about our blogging sisters! ☺
ReplyDeleteI sent you a message this morning lady. Hope you are doing well.
DeleteI really enjoyed reading about this part of your life. I knew you were a great photographer but didn't realize you had a business at one time. Your family is so lucky to have you to take these special shots. Have a blessed week!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I wish I had the time and energy to just keep up with all the new photography skills but I don't. If I can do just enough to keep up with the grands I am happy. Thanks lady for stopping by.
DeleteHi Cindy, I enjoyed all your pictures. The piano one was so cute! You said you once had a website. I have had mine since 2000 and I must have over 300 pages on family, inspiration, Holidays. Every year I think I will close it, but I enjoy it and my grandkids like looking at the pages they are in. I also like knowing how my pictures are stored and saved. I do have a blogger page if I do close my website. Off to see about the Tea Cup page. I also posted my tea party pictures at my blog. Take care!
ReplyDeleteSusan, I really liked my website but got tired of paying for it monthly when I quit doing photography. Well, to hop over and check out your tea party now! YAY!
DeleteYour photography shows just one of your many talents. How can baby girl be one already? She's a little beauty! Sorry I'm late... Gotta lot going on these days and seems blogging has taken a back seat. Hope you're all healed up from the pneumonia. PLEASE take care of yourself! 💜
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb. I knew you must have been busy this week. Yep, feeling lots better. Hope I stay that way. Guess I am going to have to break down and go back to the immune Dr. Seems my immune system is down again. Dang this getting old ain't for sissy's! LOL!
DeleteThis was an interesting post Cindy, much of which I can identify with. Lavender Cottage was the name of my gardening and writing business so it made sense to name my blog that too. I even went so far as to name our little bungalow the same, a quaint British tradition. Since I supplied my own photos for articles, my Canon was always by my side with a point and shoot in my purse, just in case. Like you, the cell phone that takes fabulous photos is my go-to now and I feel bad about the DSLR sitting in its case, but I'm retired and only blogging now.
ReplyDeleteYou had a great formal training for using your camera, I winged it and always on Auto. This shows in your photos, very nice and professional looking. Technology is changing at an alarming speed - hope I can keep up. :-)
That's interesting to know too Judith. Yes, the cell phone cameras are the best but sure makes it easier for me to be lazy. LOL Technology will surely pass us on by if we don't keep up with it.
DeleteOh, I love all of your pictures! You do such a great job! :) If you look back through my blog, I used to carry my Canon everywhere. Now, it seems I usually use my phone, only because my health hasn't been good enough to walk out and about. As luck would have it, I finally decided to deal with the pain, and took my camera for a walk a few days ago...and the BATTERY WAS DEAD! lol I was not happy. Someday I hope to get back to using my camera regularly because I miss my nature photos. Until then, I'll enjoy yours. :)
ReplyDeleteAwe thanks sweetie . Bless your heart . So glad you got to get our a little even if the camera was dead . Have a. Great night sweetie .
DeleteHard to believe your youngest grandchild is turning one. Time marches quickly! I enjoyed viewing all your photographs. Your kids are blessed to have you to photograph the children. You do a great job and your grandchildren are adorable.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bonnie .
DeleteBeautiful post Cindy. Love your photography. You have captured some lovely smiles and moments. Thanks for taking the time to explain and share. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda .
DeleteCindy this was such a fun post and I got to learn so much more about you. First of all that little grandbaby of yours has stolen my heart. They are all adorable and you are truly blessed. Now the part about the family pictures and the bossy women, cranky kids, had me rolling on the floor. I can see why you choose to stick to grandbabies and barns. Have a blessed Easter!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary. That little grandgirl has stolen our hearts in this family too. Glad you enjoyed visiting with me today. Looking forward to seeing what you are up to next.
DeleteThe little grandbaby angel is the cutest ever! I can't believe not to long ago, 1 yr. and 4 mths. ago I had one too. Gosh they grow sooo fast !
ReplyDeleteYour photography is amazing, my friend, each and everyone. Your kids are so lucky to have you perpetuate such fabulous pics of their offspring.
My DD Sofia is right now in Madrid visiting her sister, my DD Alexandra who lives there and she took my small camera and funny cause I was just taking pics from my old big Cannon too, just like yours and it's fabulous !
Now, I'm off to visit your before post and check out the bread.
Hugs,
FABBY
Thanks fabby for stopping by to visit me . Yes these babies grow up so quickly .
DeleteOh wow, you have a knack of capturing moments and creating fabulous photography, Cindy. I can believe your grandbaby is turning 1. How time flies!...Christine
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine . Yes we just celebrated theyvsweet baby's first birthday yesterday . She's such a blessing .
DeleteAgain, fabulous photos, every one! Can you believe that I forgot to take pictures of the teacup and other things in your box?? I could have just kicked myself so I had to improvise. You'll see what I mean when we post our reveals on Stephanie's blog. :)
ReplyDeleteAwe girl it's okay cause I took pictures of it all . Lol . I've truly enjoyed my teacup and the different flavored teas has been so good .
DeleteHappy Easter Cindy! I added the Tea link.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter .
DeleteI'm quite behind in blogging, but I'm glad I didn't miss your posts :) Really enjoyed your thoughts about the world of photography and how rapidly it is changing, to where cell phones are taking amazing pictures and the need for DSLR is waning. However, I still use my trusty Canon, and I haven't given into the temptation to get a smartphone, yet. I've been warned by many, and now you, that it may replace my camera, and I hate to hear that, but I guess that is the way of technology. I've recently been looking to find a prime fixed wide angle lens to round out my equipment, and now I'm rethinking that, because of the way technology is headed. I enjoyed all the pictures you shared, your talent is amazing, but I'm glad that you are just enjoying your grands, that is so much more important! Hugs to you today :)
ReplyDeleteSweet lady I understand about being behind . Seems lube is me a lot lately . Yes I'm glad that I just photograph our grands now too . I don't have the energy I used to have . Lol .
DeleteWe are traveling and have not had consistent internet access so I'm catching up - again! No wonder I've always loved your photos! How I wish you could be by my side as our travels take us to places where I'm sure my photography skills will frustrate me!
ReplyDelete~Adrienne~
Oh I am ready to see pictures of your traveling. Hope you are having fun.
