{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

WEDNESDAY IN THE WORD

Am I the only person that lives by a calendar and a to-do list? I have a calendar on my personal computer, a calendar with a place to list my to-do's at the office, a hard back calendar that I carry with me daily, a calendar on my refrigerator and sticky notes everywhere! Whoever invented sticky notes is one RICH person...

I have to have a calendar to keep up with things such as Doctor appointments (which seem to be more than less these days), dentist appointments, hair appointments (which I don't forget) Ha! Meetings and events to attend and well, you know the list. Your lists and appointments may be different than mine but you have them all the same. We live in a fast pace society that if we don't have a calendar and some sticky notes we are in trouble! Or at least I am! I find myself getting up in the middle of the night to make a note about something in fear that I will forget it! Now that may be a problem of another kind huh?

Now here is the deal....As I check my calendar to keep up with my appointments and check off the items done on my to-do list is there an appointment I have made that day for God? Have I scheduled Him into my daily life or is He on that list of to-do's and I haven't gotten to Him yet? We live in a fast paced world that is all about schedule's yet we fail to schedule TIME for the very ONE that gave us everything.

I remember when my oldest daughter Kristy got married and the "sharing" of the holidays was about to be born! Ooh, I wasn't so sure I would like the idea of sharing my first born with a husband much less another family! But I remember to this day after praying telling Kristy that her husband came first in her life apart from God and that marriage was hard enough at times without adding the hardship of "who do I SCHDULE to spend time with this holiday! That if all she could do during a holiday event was take enough time to share a ham sandwich with her dad and me that would be okay...however, I did want my time.

But in reality of spending time with God do I say, Okay God, I have 5 minutes for you today? Do I give Him what is left of me at the end of the day? Do I treat Him, the Almighty God like He is a CHECKOFF on my calendar?

Life is short...we are not promised Tomorrow and Today is the day we are in....Make time for God!

'So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.' (2 Corinthians 4:18)

  3. I must lead quite a boring, uneventful life, 'cause I don't write too many things down....of course my daughter is my "reminder"!!! ;-) Love the analogy....and no matter how much time I pencil in for HIM...it's still not enough!!!

  4. Wow, what an awesome post! Makes me wish I didn't take that blogging break. I missed reading your posts.

    I live by my to-do-list and can't function without it. Thanks for reminding me that spending time with the Lord should always take priority!

  5. Oh my! I too live by a calendar and not sticky notes but full size paper! LOL So good to know I am not alone. But...your post struck that cord in my heart about spending the time I should with my Savior. Thanks for allowing the Holy Spirit to use you. If for no one else but me today! Nita B

  6. I am married to Calendar I do believe! We have to have some kind of organization to help us with our busy lives but if we don't stop and remember that God is first and take time for Him then He could very well remove some of that busyness. Thanks for the reminder that GOD is first! Connie Royals

  8. I happen to be the queen of post it notes...the only problem I find is I can't always remember where I've put them. Great post, my prayer is that God will give me that hunger for Him so that he won't be just be a check off on my way too busy list

  10. Cindy I appreciate your thoughtful post here about calendaring and making sure we pencil in time for God. I have not yet read my scriptures nor said my prayers this morning. Your reminder has brought me up short which I needed. I too feel that we must put Him first in our life and not get distracted by 'Life'. Thankyou for this beautiful post. Its just what I needed to hear this very morning.

    Big Hugs,

    Nann

  11. I live with a calendar, too. Now I have my calendar on my phone and in my daily 'to do' list I have 'Daily Devotions' up at the top. Just a reminder of the importance of time with God in my life! Thank you for sharing this.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
