I sure hope that your May has kicked off to a good start. The heat is settling in quick around our parts. We've kicked off May with watching our softball girls win the District. Next week we start another round of ball. It's so much fun to watch these girls and especially our girl, Mallory. She plays centerfield. We were so proud of both teams that played against each other. They all, hand in hand gathered together as one of our girls prayed for the game and also for one of our young men that was in a horrific car accident and fighting. His name is Kaden if you can think to lift him up to our Lord. I had the opportunity recently to speak to a group of women at a ladies luncheon event at a local church. Oh we had so much fun. I wished I had gotten pictures of the beautiful decorations. We had a TEA PARTY and we each kept the cup that we drank out of it. Isn't she just lovely? This is statements coming from the book "Crazy Love" not a judgmental attitude of any kind. Just food for our thoughts this week.
Lukewarm Christians tend to choose what is popular over what is right when they are in conflict. They desire to fit in both at church and outside the church; they care more about what people think of their actions (like church attendance and giving) than what God thinks of their hearts and lives.
"Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets". Luke 6:26
"I know your deeds, you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead." Rev. 3:1
Lukewarm people rarely share their faith with their neighbors, coworkers, or friends. They do not want to be rejected, nor do they want to make people uncomfortable by talking about private issues like religion.
"Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven. But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven". Matt. 10-32-33)
Food for thought can choke us can't it? Let us all be in prayer and ask God to help us NOT to BE a lukewarm Christian. I am praying...are you?

I really enjoyed that book, too. I want to always be willing to share HIM with others...which was I started Jeremiah 29:11, at His prompting...to share HIM with others!!! Yes, I pray that I don't mislead or misrepresent...but do all for HIS glory!

I haven't read that book, but I totally agree with the sentiments. That was the whole thrust of Christ's teaching, from the sermon on the mount right on through. It's about something deeper and more abiding that going through the motions.
ReplyDeleteI pray that I am that deeper and more abiding Christian, and when I fail (and I'm prone to with this sin nature of mine) I thank Him for redirecting my paths.

Cindy - this is a wonderful reminder to let our faith lead the cart! This has been a greater challenge to me since I removed myself from more mainstream public school enrichment venues and am focusing in on my passion for the Christian homeschooling family - no more beating around the bush with academics and God - leaving the paycheck to Him!
