{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

Wednesday in the Word-Birthday Blessings

As most of you know my new word for 2014 is "Rejoice".  I have so much to Rejoice about. One thing I rejoiced in was my birthday! Yes, I had a birthday on Feb. 18th and celebrated another year of life. Amazing at how the older we become the more we appreciate LIFE!  Cake made by my niece Stephanie. The word CAUTION is right because I intend on making every moment count with the 2nd chapter of my life!!!!   One thing I am learning is that with age it makes you stop and think about the many blessings in your life and even a greater appreciation for those blessings. So for my birthday I am THANKFUL ! Thankful that my mom chose to give birth to me. She did not have too but she did! I will forever be grateful that because "she chose life" I had life!  Mom Very blessed with family and friends that loves me just like I am... My three daughters. The Lord knew what He was doing when He gave me girls...I cannot imagine a bond any deeper. My best...

Wednesday in the Word-Do good unto others

Galatians 6:10 - As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all [men], especially unto them who are of the household of faith. I love this scripture. Such a wonderful reminder to us that as Christians we are to do good to everyone but especially those of the faith. I love doing for others, how about you? I can't always do all the things I would like to do. But, the thing I have learned over the years has been that even the most simple acts of kindness mean so much. It can be a smile, a pat on the back or a great big hug. It can be sharing your lunch with someone just because you can. It can be a batch of cookies or a meal cooked for a family. Sometimes the greatest gifts received are simply our words of encouragement.  Within the last week I have received two batches of cookies from friends who brought a smile to my face and a lift in my spirit simply because they were thinking of me.  May be all have the mindset of thinking about others. There is always ...

Wednesday in the Word-Friends

Today I want to share my little craft gift for a dear friend's birthday. First, let me say that she is a Seamstress and only those that love to sew would appreciate such a gift.  I wanted to do something different for her birthday than the usual box of candy, bottle of perfume or good book to read. I saw this cute idea on none other than Pinterest but decided to tweak it up a bit to fit her style. A Memo Board .......LOL! Doesn't look like anything special does it? Just a cute memo board from Target but enough room that she could place her little memo's on. (Actually she needs a huge one because she stays so busy with her sewing for others)  Then my next item for the agenda was sewing items to place on the board. The idea that I saw showed different colors of thread on spools glued all around the memo board. Loved that idea so I pulled out my sewing stash and a plea to some friends that if they had any items they did not want I would take them. Several friend...
