{May Has Arrived}

  I sure hope that your May has kicked off to a good start. The heat is settling in quick around our parts.  We've kicked off May with watching our softball girls win the District. Next week we start another round of ball. It's so much fun to watch these girls and especially our girl, Mallory. She plays centerfield.  We were so proud of both teams that played against each other. They all, hand in hand gathered together as one of our girls prayed for the game and also for one of our young men that was in a horrific car accident and fighting. His name is Kaden if you can think to lift him up to our Lord.  I had the opportunity recently to speak to a group of women at a ladies luncheon event at a local church. Oh we had so much fun. I wished I had gotten pictures of the beautiful decorations. We had a TEA PARTY and we each kept the cup that we drank out of it.  Isn't she just lovely? Easter has come and gone but we sure have a great time with family. We gather each...

Rustic Bridal Shower

I had so much fun putting little things together for a Rustic Bridal Shower. Amazing at how things so simple can really be cute.

Rustic Naked cake...(well not totally naked) I never knew til recently what Naked cake meant till I started seeing pictures of them everywhere. Funny....6 years ago I made some cakes and had just enough left to make a small cake but not enough icing to cover it and decided to use it to go with our many desserts we had for my motherinlove's 70th birthday party. Little did I know that a few years later these NAKED cakes would be so popular!!!

Here is the one I done 6 years ago!

A small pallet worked great for the cake to sit on don't ya think?

Remember all the tin cans I have been covering ????? How cute is this?

Another pallet for my cute bucket, tins cans, mason jars and homemade bird seed hearts.

Another yard sale basket. My grandson said, "Nana, did you glue all those twigs together? Of course I had to tell him the truth and say NO! LOL! Another little tin can with a little burlap and of course some cuttings off the greenery in the yard.

Yep you guessed it! More tin cans....but the mason jar with lace and the pearls added just the right touch.

Root beer barrels...

Amazing how old broom straw from the yard can be so cute for a rustic look!

Perfect for our cake plates and forks.

Pearls just add to everything!

My little bucket worked out great for the sweet tea!

Thought you might want to look at the heart shaped bird seeds again! LOL! I must say I had fun making these. I actually froze a few to use for the shower and to also test and see how they held up. PERFECT!

Found this mason jar template on line as a freebie and wished I could remember where so I could give credit. Cute little welcome addition.

Also found this mason jar template on line as well. There is some talented folks out there in blog land! Was perfect for a banner....

I decided I wanted wording on my mason jar banner and they turned out adorable.

My favorite.....

Look at the cute hostess gift. English lavender soap tied with raffia and a cute tag.

And the tag says..."From my shower to yours". Love it!!!

A friend of mine from church brought me a pallet. Thank you Johnna Duke! So my man cut it down to suit my needs. Two worked out well for the cake stand and a stand to sit my tea on. The other half of pallet made a sweet wedding gift....

They will use this as part of their Rustic wedding and then it will go on their front porch. Another friend, Dave Brandt done the wording on the pallet and a little stain to top it off made it complete. I love it!

And my niece was happy....

I was happy....

We all happy!

Hope you have a happy day!

  4. Just a nice shower, Cindy. You outdid yourself. I know your niece was happy. Your table was darling with so many cute touches. I am so impressed with all the work you did on the banner.
    I learned what a naked cake was too. Not sure why I didn't know that! LOL.

    Have a good week.

  5. I love everything and have already pinned one thing so far! I love the combination of the rustic with the pearls and other such feminine things. That just *makes* it for me.

    And... I didn't know they were called naked cakes. My daughter just mentioned them and described them but didn't use the term as far as I can remember. She got one from friends for her birthday.

    Since frosting the whole cake is my least favorite part of baking, I should make more naked cakes.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{March Is Underway}

  Welcome to March! The little grands and I kicked off March with a sleepover at Nana's house. They are so much fun and so energetic. COFFEE has earned my love forever for sure! LOL!  We started out with a sack lunch from Burger King (their favorite) and headed to a cute little park that is only about 2 miles from where I live. The girls has so much fun. The girls put in for Nana to ride the horsey. Well, y'all know I had to show those littles that Nana still can do that!!! Two of the girls wanted to play with the old Halloween wigs but the youngest one opted out. She said it made her head itch. LOL!  We had a tea party for breakfast. Our tea party consisted of smoked sausage, peaches and chocolate chip cookies. Yummy to my tummy the youngest one said! I finally got around to making myself a healthy fruity Icee. I made the girls snow cones out of the same healthy fruits. Guess I needed too so they wouldn't be so hyped up from all the cookies when returning home. Hee-hee!...

{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...
