{Happy Resurrection Day}

I hope that you all have enjoyed this beautiful Easter Sunday. He is risen! I wanted to end the month of March in sharing a few of my favorite photos from the month.  Celebrated my favorite grandsons birthday. Conner is 18 now!  Our beautiful Mallory Grace all decked out for the prom. The youngest grands (sisters) were flower girls in their uncle's wedding. The oldest one was in her element of dress up. The younger one, not so much. THAT HAIR BAND ITCHED HER HEAD she said!  I purchased a new pair of wedges that I love. I am always skeptical about ordering shoes or clothing but read the reviews on Amazon and went for it. Love the color and the style.  The youngest grand loves to take selfies and play with the filters.  Marty colored Easter eggs. He always colors at least a dozen every year. He always says he's doing it for the grands but I know he does it because of the inner child in him! LOL! I went with the little ones to Disney on Ice and we had the best time. I think I enjo

Tuesday Toots-Recipe and Tutorial

How about pickled banana peppers and pickled jalapeno peppers?
I do believe this picture needs to go on the front of a magazine don't you? I just love it!

And this one.....

Loved these 1/2 pint cute jars! I decided to use the 1/2 pint jars for the peppers. I washed jars, lids and seals in hot soapy water and let them dry.

Decided I would do some pepper rings and some half peppers. Washed the peppers, got all the seeds out and washed them again.(Recipe at end of post)

Cut and diced like I wanted.

I also used the same recipe for the Jalapeno peppers. I done a few rings and some half peppers.

Garlic...YUM! I use one garlic per jar. You actually would use 1/2 of a pod of garlic per jar but we like a little more garlic so I went with it!

Picking and Canning Salt.

Vegetable oil.

Turmeric Spice

Now after your jars has dried fill your jars with your peppers. For half pint jars add 1/2 tsp. of oil and 1/2 tsp. of Pickling and Canning Salt.

For your brine: 2 cups of water, 2 cups of white vinegar, 1/2 cup of sugar, and 1/2 tsp. of turmeric. Mix together and bring to a boil.

Ladle out brine into your jars over your peppers and make sure there are no bubbles at the top and fill jars with brine just enough to cover peppers. Put lids and rims on and tighten. Place jars in pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil for 10 minutes.

Decided while the hot water bath process was going on I would take a break and eat some fresh tomatoes and cucumbers out of my garden. (Yeah, I like pepper and salt)

Once the hot water bath process is through I take the jars out to cool.

They need to sit about two weeks before popping the top! Speaking of top popping...I can hear my lids sealing now....POP, POP, POP!

Note: They will have a yellowish look to them because of the turmeric. After jars have cooled completely I place them in my cabinet...and I my man is counting down days to when he can POP the TOP!

Now for the recipe: Double this if you plan to use pint jars. If you plan to use quart jars I will let you do the math! LOL!

15-20 banana peppers
2 cups of white vinegar
2 cups water
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. ground Turmeric
1/2 glove of garlic
1/2 of Pickling and Canning salt per jar
1/2 tsp. of vegetable oil
6-8 (1/2 pint) jars

For the Jalapeno peppers I made up about half the amount of brine for them as I did not have as many of them as I did banana peppers. I had enough to do about 3 (1/2 pints of Jalapeno peppers)

Another note: I actually took about 1/4 piece of jalapeno pepper and added it to the jar of Banana pepper too for a little added kick. On the Jalapenos, be sure to take all the seeds and membranes out! Those suckers will burn you up if you don't. USE gloves too! They will burn your skin while handling them if you don't! ASK ME HOW IT FEELS! LOL!

  6. Yum! Yum! Magazine worthy for sure. I love peppers, but have never thought of bottling them. Usually use them all in my salsa. Next year I will plant more peppers to do this. We love Mexican food. In fact, I have a chili Relleno casserole cooking in the oven right now. I am pinning. Thanks for sharing the recipe with SYC. p.s. your tomatoes and cucs covered in s&p is just how I would have it. Can't wait till I have them in my garden!

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget

{Another Fun Filled Weekend}

I hope you all are doing well. I am trying to wind down for the night and thought I would try and get a post out. Girls, by this time I am in my fat clothes and recliner smashing that remote control!   Marty and I kicked off our weekend by having a little fun food as I call it,  "charcuterie" style out by the pond. Of course I always fix more than we need or eat but it sure was good.  Two of our granddaughters had dance recitals over the weekend so we got to watch them perform and oh my! They were just the cutest things ever.  We were blessed to be able to see them perform. Then we celebrated a birthday for this sweet grandgirl! She was excited about being double digits . And besides all the fun from the weekend I was able to see some of my pretties in bloom.  Now to enjoy a cup of coffee.... I hope that you all have a wonderful, blessed week.  Hugs and blessings, Cindy
