{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{The Tans may fade but the Memories will last Forever}

Our family had a wonderful time together on our beach vacation. There is just something about those ocean waves and salt air that I love!

The good thing is we only had to drive about and hour and a half to our destination so it made you feel like you were on vacation but yet close enough to go back home if you needed too.

And...late in the afternoons we spent our time by the pool which made it nice.

We even had our very own live mermaid! The cutest thing was that our granddaughter Mallory would swim around with that mermaid tale on in the pool and there was one little girl that said to her brother with her eyes so big, "Look, there's a real mermaid"She had all the little girls attention.

We enjoyed our grands so much and I can assure you that little thing probably walked 100 miles on that beach.

Beach hair and we didn't care!

Nothing like family....

This girl decided to rest and matter of fact, she took several naps on the beach.

She wasn't the only one that napped.

Soninlove got in a few zzzzz's.
Our sand castles became a family affair.

Several of us got a little reading in. My daughter Kristy read a book. My granddaughter Mallory read a book and I managed to read two books. Nothing like reading a good book on the beach.

Had fun coloring each other's hair.

 We went crab hunting a couple of nights and that is the most fun ever! Listening to the kids and "grownups" squeal is a hoot!

Speaking of crabs, we headed out one morning only to see this CRAB sitting next to the door. YES, he was alive too!

We had some good eating too. We took turns cooking our evening meals but we also went out to eat several times.

Great places to eat with beautiful scenery and atmosphere.

We even went out for ice cream...which just happened to be across the road from he condos.

This gal loves her some beach. She loves to boogie board and I think she wants to take up surfing.

That is when she's not doing a Coke commercial! LOL!

It was sure nice to go to bed when you wanted too and to get up when you wanted too and NO hair fixing and NO makeup! That was vacation for me!

Well, except when we went out to eat....

This little cutie was ready to go anytime and anywhere.

Yep, lots of memories made in the sand.

 One morning while having my coffee I couldn't help but think about the families that never do anything together unless it's a holiday or an absolute Have-too! I thought about several families that I know that can't stand being in the same room with one another.  I told the Lord that very morning to not EVER let me take my family for granite. We are so very blessed.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you....

I spotted Santa and his head elf on the beach.

 I guess even Santa needs a little beach time.

 Hugs and blessings,
Cindy

  1. Oh what fun that must have been...I have been enjoying your pics on facebook as well! I love the beach and we get to go about once a year although it could be more often since it is only about a 2 1/2 drive. There is just something about that salt air and the vastness of the open sea...I feel closer to God there than anywhere. I have never seen a blue crab before and that guy is REALLY a beautiful blue! Like you, I cannot relate to not getting along with your family...I think that is a most unfortunate thing if that is the situation with anyone. Thanks for sharing your vaca with us! Hugs!

It's always fun to look back and realize how blessed we've been to have time away, time together with dear ones and time to enjoy God's creation.

Yes, we who are close with our kids are blessed and like you, I thank God for it. I bet you all are refreshed. My favorite times away are the simple ones with the people I love. 1. We did Deb. Just what we all needed especially Marty. Those long work days had just about got to him. Girl, I am not a sun bather by any means. I am one of those that gets a little sun, then back in the shade. I am well known for having a spray bottle full of water with me too! LOL! I tan easy but I have to take it in bits and pieces so that's why I start in April trying to MAKE myself get a little sun and I try to do it the safe way! Back in my younger days I was dumb and stupid and would sit out there all day. Can't take it no more! Too fat and too old.

  24. Cindy I always love seeing you having fun with your family and am so happy to see that you are such a close knit family. It truly is such a blessing. There are so many out there that do not get along and it is hard for them to communicate. The Lord has blessed you in many ways. And of course the little cutie is at the top of the list.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
