{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{Tea Cup and Mug Exchange} So much fun!

I joined the talented and gifted Stephanie from The Enchanting Rose blog for her tea cup and mug exchange. This was my 3rd time of participating and it was so much fun. Stephanie will be posting on her Blog about the exchange on Wednesday so be sure to hop over there this week and visit.

was given my name to send a teacup too.
 She went above and beyond and needless to say, I could not wait to open my package when it arrived.

It felt like Christmas opening up all those sweet packages.

I am in love with my new tea cup! Isn't she a beauty? And of course I named her, "LADY LINDA".

Just look at all the sweet things that Lady Linda sent to me!

Look at that precious Dress Dish Towel she made for me! So, so cute!

It was so nice to make a new blogging friend and I truly do enjoy our exchanges. I was given Margie's name to present a teacup too along with other goodies.  Margie lives in Canada and her blog is http://teainthevalley.blogspot.com/

I am sad to say that I did not get any pictures of the items I sent to Margie. I do hope that she made pictures to share this week on Stephanie's blog. I sure enjoyed sending some sweet gifts to her and I almost kept the tea cup I purchased for her. LOL!  I have enjoyed our new friendship.

The lovely Stephanie from the Enchanting Rose is so sweet to organize such a huge production with the exchange. I do not know how she does it nor keeps up with it! I wanted to do a little something special for Stephanie simply for being so gracious to be such a wonderful hostess.

I have truly enjoyed the exchange. It is so much fun to be paired up with ladies that you do not know, yet have some things if not many in common with. I am looking forward to the next exchange.

Challenge for you this week:
Look around you and see who you might could be a blessing to this week. It can be something as simple as sending a note/card, baking a batch of cookies for them, calling them on the phone just to check on them, or maybe you just need to take the TIME to spend some TIME with them. The ideas are endless but the rewards are many. Hope you all have a great week.

The blessings I receive are far greater than the ones I give.

  3. Once again I was not able to participate in Stephanie's Tea Cup and Mug exchange because of everything that I was invovled in with the care of Mother before her passing, but, God willing, I will participate in the next one. You received such a lovely box of goodies, Cindy. Have a wonderful week! xoxo

I love candles too but I think Marty may like them better than me. LOL! He loves it when I am home and have a candle burning that smells good when he gets home. Matter of fact, I need to do that today! LOL!

  7. What a great exchange. I wish I drank tea and was not 'getting rid of things'. It would be fun to join the group. Stephanie really is a sweet girl and i know it is a lot of work to host the exchange. That was really sweet of you to send her a special thank you, Cindy.

    I gave a little blessing today. An older man came out of Walmart using an electric cart. He was a big man and his cart was filled to the brim. I got his keys, opened his trunk, put his groceries and stuff in there with the henales to the back so he could unload easier when he got home, and made sure he got in the car and returned the electric cart for him....first time I ever drove one. I told him even blonds could drive those things and he laughed out loud and thanked me. Those little things we do bring so much joy to others if we only take the time to do them.

    I hope you have a great day, Cindy. xo Diana

    1. Oh I love your story with the man and the cart! Made me smile and laugh! Yes, it's those little things that bring so much joy to us and others. A dear lady that long gone on to be with the Lord said once, "Don't WAIT on opportunities to be a blessing. Look for opportunities to be a blessing! That has stuck with me. Then about three years ago in a Bible Study some where in the bible study it was said to be a blessing to others and listed a whole list of things we could do. The challenge was to try and do that weekly. Well, though I fail miserably at times I do honestly try. I am always the one more blessed. Yes, Stephanie is a precious gal. I am thankful for her doing this exchange for everyone. But see here, I don't know how she manages it. So much work! But the Lord is surely using her. Thanks for coming by.

  9. You received some lovely things, Cindy. The pretty teacup with some of the Pumpkin Spice Chai would be delightful! And that little dress tea towel is adorable! You are so thoughtful as well to send the hostess a thank you gift. Love the quote at the end of your post too. Being a blessing to someone else is just one way of pleasing our Lord. Lord, make me a blessing today!

  15. Cindy, just five minutes ago I was on the phone with my mom, she has a friend that is not doing well and I told her that either Friday or Sat I would make a chicken pot pie to take over there to be sure that she eats well for a few days. Then I come to your blog and find your challenge. I normally would not blog about doing something like that but since you threw a challenge out there I will blog about the pot pie with pics later this week. Thank you for throwing it out there, maybe it will make a lot of us stop and think where we can help someone else.....I so wanted to be a part of the cup exchange ever since I read about it a yr ago. I even bought a cup...then realized I missed it again! haha....I was not sure where it started but after posting the cup I got I think it was you that let me know who blogged to get it started. Next yr I will be ready! haha.....Beautiful cup and other gifts. I love that this thing is done in blog land and so any folks play along. Great job...

    1. Awe Pam, how sweet of you. I am sure your pot pie will be delicious but thoughtfulness will mean so much more.It really doesn't take a whole lot to reach out and be a blessing to someone else. So many times I think, and I am talking to myself first, is that we get so caught up in our own little world. Thank you for sharing. Yes, hop on the exchange next time around. It's so fun.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
