{March is well under way}

February days are now gone and March has officially kicked in.   I finally purchased a new monthly focus board.  We ventured out for a day date which included a movie. I love our day dates. I will give my honest review about the movie for those interested. I wanted to see this movie as it was based on a true story. I did enjoy the movie but oh my, it was a tear jerker from the get go! It ended good but mercy! Let's just say that I am thankful that no one was sitting close enough to see my tear stained face. I am glad that I saw it but I am good for a while on sad movies, even if they do end good!   My oldest daughter, her husband and their son participated in the Spartan race which is a series of obstacle courses that challenge. They done so well. As you can see from the pictures it gets pretty muddy!  My three daughters participate each year in the Gate River Run. I love it that they do this together. They have so much support & encouragement from all the onlookers. I am just

{A Wild Adventure}

I went with daughter #2 and grandgirl's to Wild Adventures for the day while the girls were on Spring Break. It was a beautiful day. Weather could not have been more perfect.

All I can tell you is Praise the Lord I had me on some good walking shoes!

We had a fun day and this Nana was rode out, walked out and wore out. HOWEVER, I hung with these girls. I wasn't about to act like a wimp in front of these babies! LOL!

Another project down for the kitchen makeover. This recipe is my granny's biscuit recipe. She taught us early on how to make biscuits. My sister Mary can make them just like my granny could. Me? Somehow mine just never look pretty but they sure taste good. I decided to type the recipe out just like she taught us to make them. Hey, I do like those Mary B biscuits you buy and just slap them in a pan too! I added a free farmhouse graphic I found online and a cute gray frame. Granny's biscuit recipe will be displayed on top of my kitchen cabinets.

Found another piece I wanted for my kitchen that will go so well with my makeover. I just love it.

I found this cute tote box a while back. I carried it to the barn and gave it a good sanding. I dusted it off real well and it will be a future project I am working on. Any ideas ladies what I should do with this cute tote box?

Just so you know I am not quite finished with my bench. Actually I am through with everything but some wording I want on the front of it so will show you when I am through. It really has turned out super cute. Dang I am getting pretty good at this furniture re-do stuff! NOPE, don't want to do it for a living though I can tell ya!

Working on cotton stalks too! NOPE, not paying $7 a stalk for them! I guess y'all know by now I am cheap frugal.

Finished project next week. ( I HOPE)

Hope you have a great week. I will leave you with some good food for thought this week. Maybe this will minister to someone. It has to me.

  1. Cindy, You look as cute as the little ones :):) Glad you had a great time and stuck it out. Can't wait to see the kitchen. I wish I could make biscuits like my Aunt Helen...she made the best and always served them with chocolate gravy when I stayed the night. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Well thank you Susie. My granny made biscuits every single day as long as she was able too. I can remember standing in a chair and watching her. She made it look so easy. But I do believe she could have whipped up a pan in her sleep.

  2. Oh I so agree with Susie, above...you are adorable and fit right in with those yungins! I love your idea to frame that precious recipe and hang it in your kitchen...and that fan blade wall hanging is just perfect. Now, one thing before I go...I want to see those cotton stalks you are concocting. What a super idea! Did you dream that up all by your little lonesome?? Don't forget to blog about them when they are done along with all of your other projects! Love ya, sweet friend!

    1. Thanks my friend. Girl, my grandkids told me that I could google anything! LOL! So I googled DIY Cotton stalks. Hey, they aren't perfect but not too shabby and works great for me. The thing that tickles me is those cotton stalks in the store are just PERFECT! But the truth is no cotton stalk in the cotton field is perfect. So, I am going with my cotton stalks are the best! Ha! Price wise...they are perfect!

  3. What fun pictures Cindy. We went to Wild Adventures last summer and I will never go back in summer. Too hot and too crowded. I love how you have framed your granny's recipe. That is how my mother made biscuits too. I need to see that bench makeover!

Was super excited when I found the perfect frame at Walmart too. I am showing my bench make over next week. I am so dang slow these days it seems. LOL!

  5. Well, now I want a hot biscuit with apple butter. :o)) Love the way you did the recipe, so special. You might roll up kitchen towels and put in the little wooden tote. You felt after your adventure like I felt last year during our Disney trip. Goodness, never again! :o)) Happy week Cindy!

  7. Lady, you've got more energy than me! What fun! Being the serious minded person that I am, I've gotta comment on the last sign... God's been speaking to my heart so much lately about 'kicking against the pricks' .. and getting nowhere. There are things I'll never be able to control and I have to give up trying and allow Him the control... what freedom! Thanks for the reminder! 💜

    1. Love what you said Deb, Kicking against the pricks! Oh that control issue can indeed an issue. I think if we all would be honest we all struggle in this area. I have noticed, and only because of GOD, nothing I have done, that I truly began to be so much better in this area. Not all the time. Like everyone else I struggle. But here's the thing the Lord has been teaching me....When I control then I am not allowing Him to work. Oh I could write a book on this one dear friend. But yes, that dang Snoopy is a smart dog like Miss Mary said.

  8. Oh, the sunshine looks wonderful and you are not wearing a coat, or boots, or gloves! Looks like a fun day. I love your biscuit frame and your new wall hanging. How disciplined you are to make each little cotton stem but I hear ya about the price. Yours will look just as good. I love your tote...I just sold one exactly like it to a ranch in Wyoming. Not sure what they are using it for but it would be so cute in your kitchen. You could fill it with silverware and napkins when you have your huge family over. Of course a coat of paint and a stencil on the front would be perfect.

    1. I was thinking a stencil too Ann Marie. I can already see a fresh coat of paint and pretty stencil and oh the ideas are endless for this little tote box. Yes that day was so pretty. The weather was perfect. Now today we have rain, rain, and rain! GRR!

I do have my hubby's granny's iron skillets...(I use them for cornbread!) You and the girls are all so cute...such fun!! Proud of you for hangin' in there. Can't wait to see the finished products of the cotton balls and your bench, and that tote...kitchen utensils, dish towels, flowers? This is so much fun. Can't wait to see it all done!

    The Granny's Biscuits framed recipe is just so special. What a pretty addition for your kitchen. The Family Rules sign is too cute, also. I love the tote. You could use it for for holding silverware and paper plates and napkins, for a party. You could also put canning jars in it and put fresh flowers. You are one of the funnest grandmothers I know! :) I love the little tote box...I couldn't tell for sure how big it is, but I think it would be adorable sitting on your counter with napkins and silverware in it or maybe dishtowels. OR it would be neat to put your cooking utensils in...maybe with a cute word stenciled on it that says "utensils" or something along that line. It is really neat looking. You are a doing a great job on all of it. I can't wait to see the finished product! I love the quote at the end...I needed that today. Sending hugs to you today, sweet friend! :)

  15. You certainly kept up with those young ones, Cindy, What memories you all made! I love your framed recipe. We don’t eat biscuits much here but I’m going to keep your recipe handy for when we do. Your projects are looking amazing, too! You are really staying busy. I have a prayer request for you, dear friend. My neighbors were in a car accident over the weekend and the husband died. It was a horrible freak accident where a brick fell off a passing truck and hit Fred’s side of the windshield. We are all still stunned and his wife and family could really use prayers of comfort and strength. Thank you.

Perhaps a couple will be on the wall of the kitchen in our cabin-on-wheels. Love the little tote. You can change it for the seasons. Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Another Fun Filled Weekend}

I hope you all are doing well. I am trying to wind down for the night and thought I would try and get a post out. Girls, by this time I am in my fat clothes and recliner smashing that remote control!   Marty and I kicked off our weekend by having a little fun food as I call it,  "charcuterie" style out by the pond. Of course I always fix more than we need or eat but it sure was good.  Two of our granddaughters had dance recitals over the weekend so we got to watch them perform and oh my! They were just the cutest things ever.  We were blessed to be able to see them perform. Then we celebrated a birthday for this sweet grandgirl! She was excited about being double digits . And besides all the fun from the weekend I was able to see some of my pretties in bloom.  Now to enjoy a cup of coffee.... I hope that you all have a wonderful, blessed week.  Hugs and blessings, Cindy

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
