{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

Low Key Holiday and The Birthday Girl

I hope that you all had a great 4th of July. We enjoyed our youngest daughter and her family spending the day with us.

Good old fashion hamburgers and hot dogs went on the grill and then we fried potatoes! You just beat good old french fries!

My daughter made this cute dessert.

And she was dressed very patriotic as well as her two kiddos.

Oh I could just eat these girls up!

I didn't decorate too much at all for the 4th but did manage to do a little patriotic tablescape.

This child is the sweetest ever. We call her our Joy baby and a joy she is.

And don't ya just love my patriotic shoes?

We celebrated my middle daughter's birthday too. (Melissa)  We had a low country boil and made homemade ice cream. YUM! Water fun, blowing bubbles, eating peaches off the tree, fishing and lots of talking. My bunch does that well....TALK!

Being a mom of three daughters has been a trip and a half.  There was never a dull moment with them growing up and since they are grown there has nothing changed about that.

They keep me busy. Sometimes busier than I want to be. Ha! But the truth is....I wouldn't have it any other way. Sisters do indeed make the best friends as all three of my girls are very close. I've always heard that a daughter (s) would one day become a mom's best friend. I doubted that theory several times especially when they were teenagers. And...for some this theory is not true. But, for us...Oh yes! I will always have a best friend as long as I have my girls. So, here's to wishing our middle daughter a very Happy Birthday.

And I will leave you with this meme today as it struck me funny. LORD HAVE MERCY do I ever wish this was true!

Thank you for allowing me to share my family with you. That my friends is the main reason I blog....to share my life.

  2. I love those wedge flip flops! Wonderful pictures and happy birthday to Melissa. I have always thought your girls to be beautiful Cindy and love how close you all are. We decided to have a huge breakfast for everyone on July 4 this year with red, white and blue fruit salad. Everyone was gone by 1 p.m. and I actually watched old movies that afternoon. It was great.

  25. Cindy,
    Thanks so much for stopping by!! You are very lucky that all of your daughters and you have such a good relationship. In some families, that is not the case. My Mother and I have a Love/Hate relationship and there were many times when we were not talking to one another. My sister and i are 10 years apart and have not really ever been close and not we are estranged....
    You truly are blessed..

  26. I'm catching up again - as always. Life has been so busy. Whoever said retirement is a lazy, quiet time must have never been retired! We're starting to do some work and upgrades on our home and property and we've had a bunch of things in between. Love your fourth celebrations. We had a quiet day at home by choice.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
