{March is well under way}

February days are now gone and March has officially kicked in.   I finally purchased a new monthly focus board.  We ventured out for a day date which included a movie. I love our day dates. I will give my honest review about the movie for those interested. I wanted to see this movie as it was based on a true story. I did enjoy the movie but oh my, it was a tear jerker from the get go! It ended good but mercy! Let's just say that I am thankful that no one was sitting close enough to see my tear stained face. I am glad that I saw it but I am good for a while on sad movies, even if they do end good!   My oldest daughter, her husband and their son participated in the Spartan race which is a series of obstacle courses that challenge. They done so well. As you can see from the pictures it gets pretty muddy!  My three daughters participate each year in the Gate River Run. I love it that they do this together. They have so much support & encouragement from all the onlookers. I am just

{It's a Sweet Life}

Well now doesn't that Valentine cupcake look good? It's a shame it wasn't eatable!

I have a set of 8 these place card holders but decided to use just one for my simple dining for two at the breakfast bar.

Nothing fancy but dining at the breakfast bar is all we need for the two of us. But It sure makes me smile to doll it up just a tad.

Don't you just love the cute salt/pepper shakers?  I am enjoying using the wooden tray as well and have used it for several things. I found it at a thrift store months ago for $2. I have surely been enjoying my Valentine Tree, tablescape and other V-Day decor.  Can't decide if I want to decorate for Saint Patty's day or just wait a bit and get my "Spring on". Do you decorate for Saint Patrick's day?

My man and I had a Day Date on Friday. We hit the Bass Pro Shop and came out with more bags than we needed.  We went to the Mall to do a little shopping too. Yes, I came out with more bags than needed. LOL!  We had a great day though. YEP, we like those DAY DATES! I'm home before dark, wrapped in my favorite blanket sitting in my favorite chair, Hallmark movie on and a cup of coffee in hand. I think that's a pretty good ending to a date don't you? We just a pity I reckon!

We went to watch my favorite grandson play basketball. Our church has what is called "Fueled Sports" for Kids and it has surely proven to be an awesome outreach to the community. His dad coaches two of the teams and it's so much fun to watch those kids.  BTW....he's my only grandson.

We did a little meat processing with venison.

I had to cook a small patty just to make sure I had it seasoned like we wanted it to be. If you have ever wondered why sausage cost so much to purchase in the stores well let me tell you.  It's work!

Fixed a little red beans, rice and sausage in the crock pot. I have always made this dish on the stove top but Lea had a great recipe using the crock pot. I did make a few adjustments but all the same....it was so good. Cooked yellow rice instead of white and just as good if not better. And, I used venison. YUM! Recipe can be found here: http://www.ciciscorner.com/2019/02/leas-favorites-and-reviews.html

Speaking of Valentine's Day...
My daughter Melissa co-teaches our 4th grade Sunday school class at our church and their class put LOVE into action for Valentine's Day. They made Valentine cards with candy for some of the resident's at a local nursing home in which my mom is a resident of. I know that we most often celebrate Valentine's day with cards, candy, flowers, and gifts for those we love the most and that are dear to our heart. I would like to challenge you to look around and maybe reach out to someone that normally would not have anyone acknowledging them for Valentine's Day. I already have someone in mind. It sure will make a difference to them...and to you.
John 13:34-A new commandment I give to you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

Hugs and blessings and Happy Valentine's Day.

  1. Honey, you have had a busy weekend! I just love your Valentine's place settings! So beautiful, romantic and sweet! No, as a rule I do not decorate for St. Patrick's Day. I'm not a huge fan of that color green so I don't bother. Usually around March 1st, I start with the spring decorating, even though it is not one of my favorite seasons. I'm a fall/winter person and save all my decorating energy for those months. I sit a few things around for spring/summer, but don't go overboard with it! I cannot let the hubster see your venison sausage...he is a venison freak, I mean, freak! He loves it and has been disappointed that he hasn't been able to go hunting this year...he desperately wants a freezer packed full of venison. Me, not to much! :-) Love and hugs sweet friend!

    1. Thanks Benita. My main holiday to decorate is Fall and Christmas. For the other holidays it's usually just my kitchen and dining room. We love white tail deer hunting and love to eat venison. I think I have cooked about every way I know too but nothing beats a good old back strap. Hugs to you.

  2. I've been admiring your Valentine decor and especially like the super cute salt/pepper shakers!

    I agree that it's important to reach out beyond our social circle. Every year, I send (store-bought) Valentines to Veteran Affairs as part of their "Valentine for Vets" program.

    1. Thanks Margie. What a great idea with the vets. How sweet! Our church is trying to set up for every Sunday school class to have a group in the community to minister to in some way or another. Our class is working on that now. One of classes ministers to the bus drivers in our county and it has been a big blessing for them. YES, I fully agree with you. We need to go outside our social circle. Happy V day Margie.

  3. Wow! So much fun and love packed into this post! Your table/bar looks so cute. And wow...look at that sausage! Amazing! I'll bet it is really good! Your supper dish looks great too. Love that you can enjoy your grandson and of course the grandgirls too. What a sweet thing for the Sunday School class to do. That is really nice. Sounds like you and your man had a great shopping date. That is something that I can't get hubby to do much of...except for Walmart. Shopping really isn't our thing. But it sounds like you all had a lot of fun. This was such a happy post. Thank you.

    1. Thanks Pam. Well, when it comes to REALLY shopping, I have to be in the mood. If I am shopping for fun then I like a group but if shopping for something in particular then I need to solo or just my man. He is the only one that will put up with me! LOL! But Bass Pro.....oh it was calling his name. Hugs to you Pam.

  4. You have been a busy girl, Cindy. My mother used to make sausage for us and it was very labor intensive.
    I did not decorate for V's Day this year. Just no time. I hope you have a great week. Love your holiday decor! xo Diana

  5. Cindy, love your breakfast bar as well as all the pictures . Love how you get right in there making sausage . I remember my grandfather talking about making sausage.Took me getting grown to truly understand. Our church adopted a single mom and her children for valentine’s that’s from my church . We are actually buying mom a pedi along with goodie bag and one of our ladies is caring for her children while she gets pedi. Connie Royals

    1. What a sweet thing to do Connie. I know that she and her children will appreciate what you all do. We live in a world that I see so many selfish people. They care more what they have and can get more than giving to another. So sad. Happy V-Day lady.

    1. It does look real doesn't it? Well at Bass Pro is where I really like to buy some spices and of course anything to do with hunting makes the man happy. Yep, I did find some good sales in the mall that day but I was really on a mission for an outfit for a special night out. Of course it didn't stop at the outfit. I then needed some costume jewelry to go with it and shoes and....LOL! Will fill you in on next weeks blog post.

We have those too and it is so much nicer than coming home after dark. :) Thank you for the challenge to do something for someone on Valentine's Day that normally wouldn't have anyone. The Lord had laid that on my heart a few weeks ago and I did! Loved doing it!

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Another Fun Filled Weekend}

I hope you all are doing well. I am trying to wind down for the night and thought I would try and get a post out. Girls, by this time I am in my fat clothes and recliner smashing that remote control!   Marty and I kicked off our weekend by having a little fun food as I call it,  "charcuterie" style out by the pond. Of course I always fix more than we need or eat but it sure was good.  Two of our granddaughters had dance recitals over the weekend so we got to watch them perform and oh my! They were just the cutest things ever.  We were blessed to be able to see them perform. Then we celebrated a birthday for this sweet grandgirl! She was excited about being double digits . And besides all the fun from the weekend I was able to see some of my pretties in bloom.  Now to enjoy a cup of coffee.... I hope that you all have a wonderful, blessed week.  Hugs and blessings, Cindy

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget
