{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{The Birthday Girl}

Hey everybody! I hope that you all had a great 4th of July. Our day was low key. Well, sorta....We cleaned out kitchen cabinets and kitchen drawers and re-organized and tossed stuff out. So I worked more than I wanted too. But, we ended the day with grilled ribs, salad, fresh banana peppers and cherry tomatoes from my little garden, BBQ bread and chocolate chip cookies. YUM!

One of my daughter's sent this to me and I thought, Oh my mercy! I will be Christmas shopping before long! I see Thanksgiving items out already. Time sure does seem to fly by.
Speaking of "time"....it doesn't seem too long ago that I was holding this girl in my arms as a new born baby and here she is celebrating her 35th birthday.
We celebrated her birthday yesterday with a hamburger and hot dog cookout and homemade ice cream with all the toppings. Melissa is my 2nd born child. She came into this world full speed ahead 7 minutes after I got to the hospital and she hasn't slowed down since!  She's the organizer in our family. The best party planner ever! Loves her some glitter and bling and the bossiest child I have. But, as my motherinlove used to say, "Everyone needs a boss". She keeps us all on tract. And, the older I get the more ON TRACT I need to be!

 She and her sisters are the best friends ever! Makes this mama "smile big". They are in each other's business as I call it...daily! Well, we are all in each other's business daily....UMPTEEN dozen times a day texting! She thinks she is her daddy's favorite daughter. He let's her believe her that too. But then all our girls think they are his favorite. Hee-hee!

Bless her heart...she tries and I said tries.... to keep me straight in different areas of life...too many to list.....but praise the Lord she does let me know when there is  a hole in the back of my hair!

 She likes to have fun where ever she goes and doesn't mind one bit what that might entail.

Whether it's on a ball field at the end of a season with all the other mama's celebrating...

Dressing the part with office staff....

Deer hunting with the family...and yes, she's harvested several nice deer...

Sipping a cup of hot chocolate and making it look and sound "better" than it is really is...I mean even making the "YUM" sounds and LOUD....

Or teaching Sunday school or Vacation Bible Study...SHE HAS FUN WHERE EVER SHE GOES AND WHATEVER SHE DOES.

She is an amazing woman. So proud she's mine.

I hope that you all enjoy your week and even on a rough day may we be thankful for the gift of life and enjoy it to the fullest.

    Your description of your sweet daughter was precious in deed.
    We mothers love a daughter who is honest in telling us what we need to hear, even when we have a "hole in the back of our head" may we always be gracious in receiving their love and concern.

    It was so nice visiting with you today!

  21. Hi Cindy, I am finally catching up in blog world. I have been at an online crafting camp which ended today. I still have to get caught up in a few other projects, but thought I would say hi to a few friends. My comment board at my website has disappeared so I may go to Blogger if I can't get it back. I enjoyed your pictures of your beautiful family!

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
