{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{A Little Fall and a Tip For The Week}

Got a little Fall going on with my little corner chair in the kitchen. Loving my little Harvest blessings truck. There's just something about those old trucks that I do love.

Love my farm house lantern. My glass pumpkin with fall leaves was perfect to add.

The drawer that usually sits on the chair will get a break for now. LOL!

I was gifted this cute "Gather Together" sign and just love it.

I added a little fall to the corner hutch.
Break time.........

I have a set of these beautiful pumpkin canisters that I enjoy using in the Fall. I use the set of 4 for different things such as snacks, flavored teas, candy and etc. I had bought this set many years ago and gave them to my motherinlove. When she went to her heavenly home I was given them back. I love using them.

While bow hunting look what Marty found in the woods near a tree stand? He loves things like this. Can you just imagine how much time it may have taken to carve this arrow? It could possibly be 500-600 years old.

And I found a pair of the cutest rain boots at Tractor Supply. Not that I have needed them since our place is dry as a powder house. Oh mercy we do need some rain but aren't they just too cute?

I don't know how you do things with your makeup brushes but this has been most helpful to me over the years. I buy makeup wipes and before I begin my makeup routine I place one on the bathroom counter. Whatever type of makeup wipes they have for cheap is what I get as not only do I use them to clean excess makeup off of my brushes but they serve as travel wipes for me. My daily make up remover that I use is Aveeno. Every time I use a makeup brush I then wipe the brush off onto the makeup remover wipe. This keeps makeup off of my hands and my counter. And...keeps my brushes from getting so bad through the week. Once a week my makeup brushes are tossed in a mason jar with Dawn dish detergent and vinegar and then scrubbed lightly onto a kitchen scrubber. After the brushes are dry I put them back into my cute little container that sits on my bathroom counter.
That's just my little tip for the week.

I sure hope you all had a great week and I will leave you with some words from some very wise women...

There is NO lie so sly than the one we tell ourselves.....

Being right is overrated. You get a snug feeling in the moment but it fades quickly.

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  3. Love the touches of Fall Cindy and especially love those blue and white dishes! I use a paper towel to dab my makeup brushes on but a makeup remover wipe would be the trick. I use baby shampoo to clean my makeup brushes. But I must admit I do not clean them like I should!

    1. Baby shampoo makes them smell good too huh? My skin is so sensitive that I have to clean them or buy new ones. I must admit that sometimes I slack on it and it's about two weeks before I think about it.

    Thanks Cindy--you should take the arrowhead to the Florida Natural Museum up in Gainesville and they might be able to date it-or they can tell you where to have it dated--my bet is the Univ. of Fl...I know, your a Gawga Bulldog--lolol, smiles.

  14. Hello sweet friend! Oh I do love your gorgeous touches of fall. Not much fall decorating for me this year although I am keeping out a few things to add a little fall color to the RV once we get settled in. Can you believe in just 3 days we will be TN residents?? Crazy how fast it all has happened...only God. I love your boots! When I was looking for mine, I saw some like yours but as you know, the red chicken one won my heart! Happy Fall, dear friend!

  16. I love your home all decked out! Loving that chair decor. But I really want to take a break with you! That looks good. WOW...on the arrow head. When we moved to my moms house 53 yrs ago there was no grass, not lots of rocks. So dad would make us take a bucket and pick up rocks. We found several of them, knowing what they were but not connecting (age thing) the real meaning and the history of them. My brother has them now. I love that they are still around and in his hands. Have an awesome day.

    Thank you for the tip about how you clean your make-up brushes. I copied and pasted your words about that onto a document on my desktop so I can refer to it and follow your example.

  18. Hey, I love your fall decor, Cindy...and was so thrilled to see your blue and white dishes on display...we share some very similar tastes...see my post today to see about that! Love the arrowhead! Wow, what a find!!! Amazing. The fall cannisters are so cute. Glad you can enjoy them even just for this season. How much fun!! I guess you lost me on the makeup brushes, etc., but it sounds like a great idea. The closest thing I use to a makeup brush is a Q-Tip. LOL. That's my tip for the day. Ha Ha. This past week I haven't even bothered with make up or hairdos...will be so glad when this bug goes totally away. I am better today...even made it to Walmart...which was a TRIP...but we needed to go. God is good. We survived. Have a blessed day and enjoy your fall adventures. Love your posts so much.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
