{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{It's Too Hot Y'all For Fall}

I think "Fall" officially begins September 23 and I always like to get seasonal decor out a little early, BUT....Y'ALL....I just can't even!!! When my car reads 101 degrees I am like....FALL? FALL BEST BE FALLING to make it by September 23! I really had good intentions this past Friday to take my life into my own hands and fight the heat and head out to my She-Shed to gather up Fall Decor.  BUT.............

I decided to spend the day with these cuties instead! YEP, Nana bought her some cute sunshades to match her Georgia outfit too!

Hobby Lobby was calling our name! I needed wanted these cute tin chargers.

Oh and I just loved the black and white check chargers too! So, they came home with me. My daughter, Marti Leigh just shook her head when she saw me putting 16 chargers in my basket! LOL!

I found these pretty floral stems that I hope to incorporate into a Fall Tablescape. That is if I ever get around too it!

I even put out some hot chocolate and marshmallows thinking it would give me that "UMP" I needed to fight the heat and get my Fall on.  NOPE!

So how about some Pizza Dips instead....

And Chocolate Chip cookies....

But on another note.....Despite the high temps in Florida we are truly blessed. Once again the Lord chose to cover us with His hand of protection against Dorian. Our hearts has been broken for the Bahama's and for those families that have lost loved ones. I will take the high temps in Florida any day of the week!

It ONLY takes a moment to look around us and see just how very blessed we are....Things in life has a way of bringing new perspectives don't they?

AND....I do plan on trying this Fall Coffee out...despite the temps! LOL!

Hugs and blessings to you all.
Cindy

  2. Again.... I'm cracking up with your humor!
    When the car temp reads 101 degrees, it's still SUMMER!

    I absolutely love the photograph of your family looking at you and your hubby. What a great way to tell a story just by positioning your subjects!

    I know some of your talented girls and grand daughters, will be using your techniques and SO WILL I!

  5. Well personally I am ticked at Mother Nature....gives us some feels like fall temps then this week she yankes it back and later this week we are to have triple digits! I WANT FALL. NOW! But I do know that once it comes it will go just as fast.......I wished that the fall would stay around as long as summer and winter! That is a lot of chargers but you do have a big family. I love the silver ones best for me. Glad that you are all safe. I think that the storm was talked about being so bad for so long it just decided to not hit Fla. So now you have me thinking I need to go make cookies....YUM. And that pizza DIP? It looks amazing.

  6. I'm so with you, my friend, as I can't even think about Fall decor, except for my sunflower plates and faux flowers. It's too hot here too! I spent time with some cuties myself, and was exhausted, but they are fun, fun! Your darling little ones would have fun with mine. Your pizza dips look so tasty, and who can resist a chocolate chip cookie?? One day, we will get in the mood to decorate for Fall, if the temperatures would even drop into the 80's. Happy week to you, Cindy! xx

  9. I'm not surprised that you chose to spend time with your little sweeties instead of getting out Fall decor. Anyway, with the temperatures you're having it would be very hard to think Fall. I'm so glad you didn't have any bad effects from the hurricane.

  11. We have temperatures in the 90s this week, too, here in Missouri! I’ve put just a few sprigs of yellow out - I’m going to transition into Fall this year, kind of like nature does it. The tomatoes and okra are going gangbusters now so I’m making spaghetti sauce - it takes 3 hours so our kitchen is smelling pretty good everyday! The fried okra is a real treat for supper.

    I’m glad your area was spared the ravages of Dorian. It sounds like it devastated a lot of places. Have a blessed week, dear Cindy!

  12. We are having summer weather still in Illinois so I am finding it hard to put out pumpkins just yet. Maybe by the weekend. The pizza dips look yummy. I love the picture of you and your sweet family. Beautiful. Have a great week.

  13. Same situation here, sad to say. We were spoiled by last week's cooler temps and the it has been close to 90 since then...I am so done with it! I will really be downsizing my fall and Christmas decorations this year! There's only so much that you can do in a 31' travel trailer...lol...although you can bet I will try! Thank the Lord that He kept you safe from Dorian and it's hard to even think about those poor folks in The Bahamas...what a terrible tragedy that we haven't even heard the end results of, sad to say. Your pizza dips made me swoon, girl! Do you know how long it's been since I've tasted pizza?? TOO LONG! I am going to do my best to try to make a gluten free crust...now I just need to find lactose free cheese! Oh...those precious baby girls of your just get cuter every day! Love you sweet friend!

    1. Girl, you will have that travel trailer decked out I am sure. And...just think...when you get your new home...you can decorate big time! Sister, I know you've had to make lots of eating changes and that's a hard thing to do. But when it comes to our health changes must happen for sure or we are the ones that suffer. Those kiddos are growing up too fast!

  16. Glad that your area was spared by Dorian. The temperatures have started dropping here (sweaters required in the morning). When I left the office this afternoon, I was surprised by hot and humid it was.

  22. I agree~it is too hot for fall! And we need rain very badly. Even my azaleas and acuba are wilted.

    I do have brown leaves on the driveway though from the heat! Of course we don't get fall color until November around our house and we are always rushing fall. I love the fall when the mornings are cool and fall color is evident. Can't wait.
    I've wanted the tin chargers since last year but honestly I don't have a place to put them. They are so nice. Look forward to seeing your table using them.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
