{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu

{A Few of my Favorite Things}

I hope that you all have had a wonderful weekend.  The weekends just seem to go by too quickly don't they? I wanted to share a few of my favorite things today that sits on my corner hutch in my kitchen.

Most of all my blue and white dishes belonged to my grandmother and motherinlove so they hold special memories for me to say the least. I have a few that I have picked up here or there or that was gifted to me.

Since I enjoy displaying my favorite blue and white dishes, most often I add seasonal or holiday decor to them and I also enjoy the little pops of color added to the blue and white.

Since the bottom of my corner shelf has a cabinet I was able to store a few of my dishes there. But, I have more lovely blue and white dishes stored in my She-Shed. I guess I need to have a blue and white party one day.

Though I have lots of dishes I do have some favorite's, how about you? Do you have favorite dishes?

Recently it was "National Daughter's Day". So I jumped on the band wagon to acknowledge our three daughter's. To be honest, it doesn't take a National Daughter's Day for me to acknowledge my girls. We are so very proud of the women they are today. They are wonderful wives and mothers and they love our Lord and raise their children to love Him too so what more could we desire? Of course I heard the next National Day was Son's Day. And I guess there will be an Aunt day and an Uncle Day. Mercy...to be totally honest, I am beginning to wonder if EVERYDAY isn't celebrated for something...And If I am going to Celebrate daily then I want it to be....

Each day is surely a gift to be used.

I hope that you have a very wonderful week and remember.....

  2. So nice that you have your special dishes from your moms. I have dishes and china but I tend to use the plain white Corelle that were my moms. You have beautiful daughters! I like your last picture post.

    When I was in elementary school, I learned that blue and orange were complementary colours.

    1. Thank you Margie. I love the blue and white dishes. Brings back lots of memories of my granny for sure. My Papa always wanted to eat out of "REAL" dishes as he called them with a "REAL" fork and of course a "GLASS" drinking cup. Granny always used those blue and white plates.

  7. I'm pretty sure you are right...seems like there is something or another to celebrate each and every day. Of course, waking up every morning is the best reason to celebrate:)
    I just love your corner shelves. One of my friends would really love your blue & white dishes...she's a collector. I like to change up our dinner plates so have several different ones. Would you believe some of my favorites came from the Dollar Tree!!! They are just this pretty lime green and I bought coral placemats (also at $Tree) to use with them. The color combination looks great...and at just a buck apiece!!! I also have a set of solid red dishes by PIONEER WOMAN...love, love red!!! I still have all the dinnerware I got for wedding gifts 50 years ago!!!! I'm sure they are discontinued by now. It's fun to change up and not use the same dishes over and over. I know you are proud of that great looking family!

  14. I love blue and white dishes, as you know, I have some of the same. I also have that same butter dish. It was my grandmother's. It is rather old and stained from years of butter grease seeping into the little fine cracks that come with age, so it probably isn't that great to use, but I love having it because of whose it was. Yes, you should have a blue and white party! I love the pops of fall color with the dishes too. And you are greatly blessed to have such three lovely daughters! What a gift from the Lord. I have three wonderful sons..two here on earth and one waiting in heaven. They are all unique and special in their own way, and were/are a delight to us as well. I know that our Matthew is now a delight to God in heaven. He must have had a special purpose for calling him home so soon. Some day we will understand it all. Enjoy this gorgeous fall day we are having! So happy for a crisp morning and sunshine. Makes me want to be outside all day.
    Take care dear friend.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th
