{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{It's A New Day}

Good Sunday afternoon friends. I hope that you are having a good Sunday. Our family surely did. A wonderful church service this morning followed by our weekly family Sunday dinner always brings me much joy and delight.

 I wanted to show you this sweet little beaded ornament my youngest daughter's sweet mothinlove made for me. Isn't it too cute? I see these are quite popular and I am sure I will use it in various areas for decor for a long time.

For right now it is perfectly nesting in a good spot.

She also made for me and gifted me this adorable stove top noodle. It goes perfect with my farmhouse kitchen decor.

The picture doesn't do this adorable noodle justice. I truly feel blessed and I was most appreciative of her gifts to me.

Marty and I had a DAY date. YEP, I tend to like the DAY dates better these days. Y'all, when it gets dark I am ready for my fat clothes, recliner and a cup of coffee. I wonder if that is a sign of aging? LOL! But, I found this cute sign. I haven't decided yet where I want to put it but thinking my living room maybe.

I am enjoying my old chair in my little corner. It just seems to be a perfect spot for an old chair.

Even though I have had to take some time off from teaching or being in class with some sweet ladies I am still keeping up with my Bible Study that we started first of year. It is so good. Meaty, full of scripture and just what the doctor ordered for me right now. And...the cover of the book is just simply beautiful. YEP, I notice little things like that too.

A friend sent this to me recently and timing was perfect. Maybe it will speak to you today too.

I hope that you all have a wonderful week and remember girls...

Even if I can't see real clear right now I can assure you my lipstick will be put on. LOL!

And, I don't want to close without giving you an update on my eye. My eye is healing nicely. The hardest thing is the waiting period between the surgeries. Wrestling with one good eye and one bad eye sure is the pits but so thankful that I have sight and I am counting my blessings. But, I am looking forward to this all being behind me. God is good and has surely been better to me than I deserve. I have so much appreciated your prayers.

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  1. Love your beaded ornament, corner chair lipstick, Bible study (beautiful cover! Yes!) and the sign and the "stove noodle". I never heard of a stove noodle before, although I see what it is, and have seen such things, I just never knew it was called a stove noodle. I wonder how they came up with that name? I was looking for something like a pool noodle or something long and skinny and noodly looking. LOL. But I do like the idea, as long as you are sure no burners are hot! LOL. And it could double as a kind of a tray I would think! I am glad your eye is healing well, and I pray the other one will do just as well. I can imagine it would be difficult in between surgeries, but soon it will be done and you will have great vision again! It's amazing how far they have come with cataract surgeries these days!! May God continue to bless you and watch over you and give you joy and peace!

    1. Thank you Pam. Yes, the stove noodle can serve several functions actually. A large serving tray for one. Which I would need for my tribe. Also I have heard of people using them to roll out dough on. I saw a picture where one was used on a large kitchen counter and lots of pretties was placed on it. Guess I will see what all I can use it for.

  2. Cindy, so glad your eye is healing well. Love your farmhouse decor...my niece would love it too. I never jumped on the farmhouse decor wagon but I do love it. Your gifts are just delightful and go so well with the way you decorate. And the chair in the corner is just so sweet. Great place to add those cute details. And I'm with you on the lipstick:) In fact, I just received two new ones I had heard about. Ordered them from E.L.F. and got them in (would you believe) 2 days!!!! Yet I ordered something from Amazon Prime a week and a half ago and it hasn't arrived yet!!!!

    1. Girl, I love me some lipstick and really have enjoyed using some of the E.L.F. products as well. I bought a primer recently that I love. I keep hearing people say that Farmhouse decor is like any of other fad. Will come and go and I am sure it will. But, for my type of house it's perfect for now. I tend to leave things up for a long time before changing it out. LOL! Too much work and money.

  3. Hi Cindy, glad yo hear your eye is healing. I am going to need that surgery in the future. I am 65 and they want to wait as long as possible. I need to make an eye appointment because I can tell my vision is getting worse. What a cute ornament. My hubby and I only go out during the day. We have no idea what we are doing for Valentine's Day this year. We normally go out but all the restaurants are closed. Well most of them are except the ones that are defying the state's order. We will see. Take care of yourself an enjoy your reading.

    1. I really needed to have this done last year but kept putting it off. Got to the point that I knew I could not continue too. Never have been one to wear contacts and had I was then this transaction would probably been a little easier for me. The waiting in between surgeries is the hardest it seems. My birthday is close to V-Day and we never go out for V-Day. Most often we just enjoy time at home grilling or etc. Even before COVID neither of us liked battling the crowds. It's my FIL birthday too so got a feeling since it's on a Sunday this year we will be having him a birthday party. Have a good week.

    1. Thank you Kitty. I am enjoying this Bible Study very much. I heard of a stove noodle last year and a friend was gifted one. Here lately I have heard of many people using them for stove top, food serving boards, and all sorts of things. Amazing at what people come up with these days isn't it?

  5. I'm glad to hear your eye is healing. I know it's probably hard to wait on the second one. Take some rest time for yourself. That beaded ornament is so cute and I LOVE that stove noodle (never heard the term before!). Yay for day-dates. Why not! I like a good day date too! Your little chair always looks perfect in its spot!

  7. Oh I love all your cute little goodies. I have a stove noodle on the list of my things to make. I have a black top stove and I dislike it so much. It is so hard to keep clean without leaving streaks so my thoughts are the noodle will hide that! Hoping you have a great week, since this is Monday and start of this week.....at least I think it is Monday, having a hard time keeping up with what day is which.

  9. Good Afternoon Sweet Lady,
    I just know that in person Church and a Bible Study Class are just what we all need. So glad that you have both to fill up your cup.
    I have a noodle too and I love it! My youngest daughter ordered it for me from Etsy and it is such a neat accessory for the kitchen.
    So thankful you are on the mend.

  10. LOL love the lipstick saying. My grandmother use to say when things get tough go put on a little lipstick and you will feel better! I loved that women and her sweet sayings in life.
    Love your noodle board. I gifted one of those to my daughter for Christmas for her farmhouse kitchen and she loves hers too. I love day dates with Terry. They are the best to leave the world and adventure together for just the day. Glad your eye is healing nicely and just wait when you get the next one done. You will love not wearing glasses and seeing so great. Patience with these things is the hardest!!!! Have a great new week. xoxo Kris

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
