{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{What's Happening}

Hello dear blogging friends. Hope you all had a great weekend. Despite one eye healing and one bad eye, I am still keeping up with life as normal as I can and much appreciative to those who have reached out to me to assure me...I will feel normal soon. It's great to know others will pray for you and especially to hear from those that have felt the struggle because it's truly real.

When the 4 year old granddaughter wanted Chocolate cake well, of course I whipped up a batch of chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing topped with chocolate chips. I hear chocolate is really good to help your eyes heal from surgery too......

The oldest granddaughter carried me back to the eye doctor and of course I treated her to lunch. It is a good feeling to know I have a grand with drivers license now! LOL!

We went to watch my favorite grandson....my only grandson, play basketball with our church team over the weekend. It was a treat to have his great-grandfather there too.

Finished up the last of my homemade soup my daughter Melissa made for me. I could eat soups all year long. I told y'all I was milking this eye healing thing and it's working.....

This sweet grand got her first hair cut this past week and she done so good. She's our baby in the family and our baby is becoming a little girl now.

And just so you all know cause I have some bragging rights here...I made the popular GON (Georgia Outdoor News) magazine. I went ahead and autographed Marty's copy for him. Hee-hee. I think my tribe is about tired of hearing about my buck.

This grandgirl went on Pheasant hunt with her dad and uncle over the weekend and had a ball. She harvested two and loved it. She said she may have found a new hobby she likes now. She meant ANOTHER Hobby!

You know friends, life isn't a cupcake for sure but I am surely going take all the sweetness I can get from life and enjoy it. I hope that you all have a great week and that your days are filled with a sweetness from our Lord because HIS sweetness is better than any cupcake you will ever eat.

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  1. Hi Cindy, what happened to your eyes? I hope you are okay! How cool that you made the cover of the magazine! I can't believe how grown up your little grand daughter looks. I remember when you posted her picture when she was newborn and she had lots of dark hair. My son that just turned 40 had blonde curls as a toddler. It turned dark brown. I hope you feel better soon!

    1. I posted about on my Country Winter Tablescape. Cataract surgery. You know, the surgery everyone says, "Oh it's simple". Nothing simple when it's US! LOL! I am doing well. Be glad when next one is over and both eyes return to normal or normal as can be.

  2. So glad your eye is healing...and that you are being taken good care of. Such cute grandkids...aren't grands just the grandest???? Love my two so much and enJOY them so much. You would fit right in with my guys who love to hunt...you bagged a really good buck. I sometimes go hunting with hubby but have never learned to shoot. I almost made cupcakes today too! We certainly have a lot in common. God bless you and yours...we need Him more than ever these days.

  3. I hope your eye feels better soon. That's what I found after cataracts were removed from my eyes maybe 2 years ago. Your grands are all busy doing 'stuff' just like their gran. The littlest with her first haircut is so photogenic. She looks adorable no matter what.

  4. What a cheery post, Cindy! I studied the background of the picture of your granddaughter's lunch with you. Looks like you dined at maybe Bono's BBQ, or Sonny's, perhaps? (no need to answer that, by the way)

    Looking for all the sweetness we can glean out of life -- that's a positive attitude, for sure.

    I'm praying the remainder of your recovery from eye surgery goes well.

  12. Had to come back for another comment...didn't know if you would go back to my blog to read my reply to yours. So...how did you become a GA Bulldog fan when you live in FL???
    I have to say that our team is GA SOUTHERN UNIV. EAGLES...our alma mater, our son's alma mater, and hopefully our grandson will be going there after next year! Wanted to tell you too (in case you didn't know) that you can actually have your blog turned into a book. As I have read on other blogs, some bloggers do it every year. I haven't done it yet but keep telling myself I should. I have this horror of one day my whole blog will float off into cyberspace never to be seen again! It did that one time (and I about had a heart attack), but somehow it came back...thank goodness!

    1. I did not know that Cheri about turning your blog into a book. What a great idea! Now doing it is another thing.....I lived in Ga for years but wasn't far from the Florida line. Then a dang Florida boy stole my heart at age 16. Married that Florida boy at age 18. Been a Florida girl with a Georgia heart ever since.

  19. Cindy, so glad you're doing well after your surgery. I had both eyes done a few years ago, sure did help my vision. I dreaded it, the thought of them messing with my eyes was so scary for me. I'm surprised to say, I didn't even realized they had done anything until it was over. Prayers for continued healing.

    I am sorry you are dealing with post-cataract surgery but I do hear from other gals that you are going to love seeing the world with your knew eyes.

  23. So glad to hear your eye is doing better. I think that it is great you all know how to hunt. What an honor to be featured in the magazine with your buck! How long does the meat last you? Do you also hunt pheasants? Do you have to have a license for them?

    Love,
    Ashley

    1. Thanks Ashely. We process our own meat and it lasts a long time but then again...we eat lots of venison. I love it! My grandgirl and two SIL was gifted a pheasant hunt for Christmas so I am not sure what that involved with license. We whitetail deer hunt in GA so yes on the license and it's not cheap for non residents. But, that is our enjoyment as a family. Hope you are doing well dear one.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
