{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{Happy Mother's Day To All My Blogging Friends}

Happy Mother's Day to all my friends in blogland. Whether you are a mom, grandmother, aunt, sister, cousin or friend, you are special to some one and have touched the lives of many in some way or another I am sure. I do hope that you all have had a wonderful day. My heart is full as I think of so many of my friends that have lost their moms or those ladies that has played a huge roll in their lives. This morning I prayed for the sons of our late and beloved friend Debby, from My Favorite Things. I am sure this was a hard day for her sons. I also gave praise that I could share today with my daughter's. Counting my blessings today my friends as it is a blessing to share those special moments with the ones you love the most.

I am truly grateful that God chose me to be these girl's mom. God is good.

After church today we celebrated my oldest daughter's birthday (Kristy) and also celebrated Mother's Day. Grilled hamburgers and hotdogs was on the menu.

Kristy asked for brownies instead of a cake. So I made two different kinds of brownies and decided to pretty them up a bit. It's about presentation right?

My sister and I were able to visit with our mom on Friday at her resident in the nursing home. She was in good spirits and our patio visit was nice. It was a beautiful day with a gust of breeze but she loved being outside. She was able to get a hair cut for the first time since March 2020. We teased her and told her that she was styling the new wind blown look. LOL! Her dementia is increasing and has surely taken a toll on her mind. The patio visit was perfect and the outside fresh air done her good.

I would like to kindly ask you if you would say a little prayer for our oldest granddaughter, Raygen. She has felt led to go on her first mission trip in June with a group from church to Puerto Rico. We are excited for her as this a huge step for her that is out of her comfort zone.  But, God cares more about our obedience than He does our sacrifice and we are so very proud of her for heeding the call to serve God by serving others.

I will close today by sharing this recipe from a precious lady that has long been gone to her heavenly home. I had forgotten about this recipe until her daughter posted it recently and it brought back good memories of Miss Cecil. Miss Cecil used to bring this dish to all the pot lucks at church and everyone always raved about it. I plan to make it this week or the weekend.

I hope that you all have a wonderful week and Happy Mother's Day to my blogging friends.

    Happy Birthday to Kristy. The tired tray with brownies was a great idea. It did make a lovely presentation. The scalloped chinz plates are so pretty and adding the flowers was nice.

  9. You are blessed with such beautiful daughters...of course they take after their beautiful mother! And how wonderful that you and your sister were able to visit with your mother. I know she enjoyed having you there with her. I will definitely pray for Raygen. I remember when our oldest son went on a mission trip to Alaska when he was 15. It was a life-changing experience for him for sure. I am sure Raygen will come back with a new perspective on life and God's purpose for her life. Oh, that pineapple casserole...my sister has made that a few times and brought it to our family pot lucks. It is good!!! Thanks for sharing the recipe! I hope you have a blessed and beautiful week.

  13. Hi Cindy, I always enjoy your blog post. I enjoyed your pictures and how exciting for your grand daughter! So nice that you got to see your mom. I lost my mom in 2010 due to Alzheimer's. I posted a picture of her and me at my blog. Your daughter's are lovely! That recipe sounds so good! Are you enjoying not having to wear glasses. My vision is worse, but not bad enough for surgery yet. I will be 66 and the eye doctor says the longer I go, the better. Enjoy your week! ♥

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
