{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{Happenings Around Conner's Pond}

 Hope your June has kicked off with great and wonderful things for you all. My Gardenia's has surely been in full swing and I picked a bouquet from my bush to add a tad more sweetness to the house. The sad part about gardenia's is that they don't last long but...the sweet smell lingers.

A much needed shower of rain gave life to my squash. Actually fried a batch last night. Marty loves squash about any way you fix it. Me? Squash casserole is my fav. How about you? Do you say yay or nay to fresh squash?

We only got about an inch of rain but it sure always makes my pond and veggies look good!

And my Asparagus ferns. Which I have everywhere! Easiest thing to grow so I keep them around. LOL!

Had this grandgirl for an overnight at Nana and Papa's. We done a little shopping, fried some deer meat up, ate brownie bombs, done a facial, colored, watched movies and of course I had to buy her the Elsa music jewelry box while out shopping.

And...Nana spotted a new beach hat and earrings that came home with me from our shopping trip.

These girls enjoyed a movie outing. It was our youngest granddaughters first time of attending a movie and she loved it. Bet more movie trips are in store now.

Little ladies...

I hope that your week is wonderful to you and your families and that we are walking into June with a prayer and a plan. For me, I know that my plans aren't God's plans so I try real hard to keep that in mind when making plans. But, a planner I am and I am looking for fresh ideas of fun things to do when our family takes our annual summer beach vacation which isn't until next month! But it will be here before I know it and I've got to plan at least one night of fun activities with the grands. We've done so much over the years...such as shell painting,  sand painting, face mask, chalk colored hair, and well, I can't even remember what all we have done. Having six grands ranging from ages 4-17 years old with one being a boy can be quiet challenging. I am also going into June with a prayer.  A prayer that things will continue to get better and better with this ugly virus as we know it to be, covid. The numbers on paper seem to be going down in a our area and I pray it continues too. I truly have felt a breath of fresh air recently and pray that it will continue in that direction.  May you all feel a breath of fresh air from our Lord as you venture into a brand new week.

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  4. We really like zucchini best but do enjoy frying up summer squash, too. It looks like your girls had fun at the movie. Isn’t it nice to be able to do some of those “normal” things again? Love your purchases! It will be fun planning those activities - you have plenty of time. Can’t wait to hear what you came up with. Wishing you a wonderful week! (Hope this goes through, I’ve been having trouble getting them to post.) Zenda

    1. Post came through. So glad. I hear such horrible news with bloggers trying to get post out these days. I have decided if it's more than I care to deal with I will create a special group on FB for those that are on there and do away with blogging. I hate that they are making changes all the time it seems.

  7. Conner Pond looks like such a beautiful place! It's fun catching up with you. That looked like a fun movie outing. I have not been to the movies in ages! You scored some goodies on your shopping trip. It must always be fun spending time with you and Marty. The grands seem to love it. I do love the smell of gardenias. My asparagus fern survived winter inside and is back out on the deck. Thank you for the inspiration!

    1. Thank you Pam. I don't like stewed squash at all and I am okay with fried squash if it's slice thin like chips. But do enjoy myself some squash casserole. I put so much in cheese in mine until I think that is why I like it so good. LOL!

  11. Loved this post. Your pond is beautiful!!! And yes we love fresh summer squash and zucchini squash just about any way you can fix. I use it raw in salad as well. I wish I was a gardener and could grow our own. Maybe next year. I say that every year. Love that you had your sweet grandgirl over. So much fun to have a young lady to shop and bake and have fun with. You are so blessed. And those sweet little beauties all dressed up and out to the theater! What fun is that? Popcorn too! Oh my! What a lovely time they had. Oh, I know you will have a blast at your family beach trip. What a wonderful time for your family. Build a sand castle for me! Take care and enjoy your summer!

  12. Your gardenias are so pretty. Too bad they're short-lived as are peonies. The ones I brought indoors overnight dropped almost all their petals.
    I am never sure how to prepare squash and when I have my DH was not impressed. You know how that goes.
    Your grandgirls are always a joy to see. I like the beach hat and cute earrings!!

    1. Yes, gardenias are short lived. Makes me sad. I put up squash yesterday to a casserole one Sunday for dinner. That's my favorite way to eat them. Of course I have been know to slice them and dip in ranch dressing raw. LOL!

  13. Wow! I didn't realize how big your property was until I saw your lovely pond.

    What a fun sleepover at your place. Are brownie bombs the newest food trend?

    I probably sound like a broken record: your granddaughters are too cute! Love the matching outfits to the movies. Can't even remember the last time I went to the movie theatres...it may have been to see the Hunger Games trilogy in the early to mid 2010s?

    Have a wonderful summer.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
