{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{Back To Reality} But Oh How God Did Bless

Good afternoon my friends. I want to thank you all for the sweet "Happy Anniversary" wishes that so many of you sent our way. We had a wonderful time in the mountains celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary. I truly think God gave a little "EXTRA BLESSING" this trip since our last mountain trip winded up with both of us being sick. We surely give Him the praise. Our mountain side scenery was absolutely beautiful.

Our cabin was lovely. Way too much cabin for us but....I surely explored every crook and cranny and we loved it.

We have always used another company when visiting North Georgia but decided this time to try a company that we had heard great things about. They did not disappoint.

The views we had was too beautiful to describe. Pictures cannot do it justice.

We were supplied with chairs to use at the fire pit and we made good use of the fire pit as one of my favorite things to do is to have me a good old "Outside fire" as I call it.

We spilt up our days and done some outings as well as enjoyed the beauty of the mountains and cabin. We took a little walkabout one afternoon but didn't venture too far as we were on top of a mountain and needless to say, a little too steep for me to be going up and down those hills.

And y'all know we ate good! LOL! We ate out and we cooked in. Marty loves cooking breakfast and since I am more of a brunch time eater, we ate late mornings. He grilled out several nights and I am not sure if it was just being in a different place but I thought the food we had was the best ever. My man can grill a steak! I done a little reading too which was nice.

We can't go to North Ga and not stop by the Sweet Shoppe. The owners are so nice and just lovely ladies.

We done a little browsing and shopping. Y'all, do you know what people charge for deer antlers to decorate with????? I about had a stroke at the price. I have a barn full of them from over the years. Actually, we have them hanging up to look at and reminisce. I think I might could go into business though with the prices I saw on those babies!

On our anniversary day we took a 4 hour train ride in which was very relaxing. We actually had an hour ride and then a two hour layover for eating and shopping and then an hour back. It was so nice to relax and just enjoy.

Marty enjoyed the train because as he said, "You can see things when just riding".

We ate at the Rum Cake Lady and enjoyed us a little Cuban food...which I love.

Marty even turned into a Mountain Man while there! Amazing what filters can do. LOL!

I surely wish I could have bottled up a little of that "On top of the mountain cool air" and brought it back home with me. Most mornings was around 46 degrees. We enjoyed getting to have a fire each night.

We felt very blessed.

One of our morning devotionals came from the book of Ecclesiastes and I found it fitting with the way we felt that God has blessed the fruit of our labor.

Of course on way home we had to stop by Bass Pro and Hobby Lobby.

And you know all my babies needed Nana to bring them home a prize.

As much we as we enjoyed our little getaway it was good to be home. Home is where my heart is and there is NO VIEW LIKE MY VIEW!

Thanks for tagging along with me through my pictures. Believe me, be glad I didn't post them all.  I hope that you all have a wonderful week and I look forward to seeing what you all have been up to on your blogs.

I will leave you this....something God spoke to my heart for different reasons this past week.

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  6. "You can see things when just riding". Yes, this is so true. When Tom was alive, he did all the driving (as I suspect may be true of Marty, too) and I loved getting to watch the scenery. Now that I drive myself everywhere, that situation has changed for me.

    Such a beautiful trip you had, in so many ways. Of course I envy you but I'm soooo glad you and Marty make these wonderful trips together. You know how to hold a marriage together and you do it well.

    Hugs to you!

  13. Oh, sweet friend! It did my heart so much good to sit and take in your beautiful photo memories this morning! I so remember how awful it was for you last year when you both got so sick. Oh, God is SO good to redeem those bad times in our lives and restore what the locusts have eaten! Your views were just so amazing and the cabin was just gorgeous. You and Marty look so happy and healthy and the two of you are such shining examples of God's love and how a true marriage is supposed to be. I know we've never met in person, but I love you all so much and just so enjoy seeing these peeks into your lives. Happy, happy anniversary and may Jesus bless you with many, many more happy, healthy years together.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
