{Happy Resurrection Day}

I hope that you all have enjoyed this beautiful Easter Sunday. He is risen! I wanted to end the month of March in sharing a few of my favorite photos from the month.  Celebrated my favorite grandsons birthday. Conner is 18 now!  Our beautiful Mallory Grace all decked out for the prom. The youngest grands (sisters) were flower girls in their uncle's wedding. The oldest one was in her element of dress up. The younger one, not so much. THAT HAIR BAND ITCHED HER HEAD she said!  I purchased a new pair of wedges that I love. I am always skeptical about ordering shoes or clothing but read the reviews on Amazon and went for it. Love the color and the style.  The youngest grand loves to take selfies and play with the filters.  Marty colored Easter eggs. He always colors at least a dozen every year. He always says he's doing it for the grands but I know he does it because of the inner child in him! LOL! I went with the little ones to Disney on Ice and we had the best time. I think I enjo

{It's All The Little Things That Make Me Smile}

 Hello everyone on this Sunday evening. Wanted to pop in and say, "It will take me two weeks or more to get used to the time change". Anyone else? We have had two days of rain, light winds and colder weather in our neck of the woods. One good reason to stay home and start my Christmas decor but I did stop long enough to make a pot of Nanny Conner's Corn and Chicken chowder. Warmed my heart for sure and was surely good.

I put up a little cute girly Christmas tree for the youngest grandgirls in the their play room.

It sure doesn't take much to make those sweet littles happy.

My oldest granddaughter went to the annual Fall Ball. She was just stunning.

My favorite grandson looked so nice too.
I decided to drag out the old singer and make a table runner for my Christmas table. I haven't brought her out in a while but she still works well.

I had something in mind for my centerpiece for my dining table so while browsing Dollar General or it might have been Family Dollar I spotted these two cute decorated boxes. So I bought two at $7 each making them cost $14.

I spotted this cute ornament for $1 so grabbed it.

I had purchased these faux white roses earlier from Walmart for $3.

I hot clued the two ends of the boxes together. YES, I have glue gun scars to prove it.

Added the ornament in the middle to cover where I glued it. Then added about 4 of the roses from the rose bush, have some left,  fluffed it up and well, I am pleased with my centerpiece for around $16.50. I will be honest, I have to truly be in the MOOD to craft and the older I get the more I like the convenience of  simply ordering something rather than scouting for it or making it. BUT, I am also very frugal and hey, with two rainy days, YEP, I had the time. But, It turned out just like I wanted it too.

I did do a little chilling out though. YEP, good old Christmas socks always make me happy.

I have gotten up quite a bit of Christmas decor thanks to my youngest daughter who came over to help me. What a blessing she was to me this weekend. I am healing from shingles, a light case and not contagious as I am over the worst so we found it safe for her to come and help me this weekend. I am thankful I had a light case because that WAS ENOUGH I can assure you. BUT, I am extra thankful I have daughters that will come to my rescue when needed.
I hope that you all have a wonderful week and that the Lord brings you blessings that make you SMILE

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  1. Well look at you, girl! Cute, comfy socks and those homemade Christmas planters turned out adorable. I sympathize with you regarding shingles. I had a severe case two years ago and I will never forget the sleepless annoying nights. Thankfully, yours is mild. Prayers for healing, nonetheless! Hugs, Cindy.

    I must admit to hating the dumb time change. It messes with sleep and it takes me a while to adjust.
    Have a great week.

    1. Thanks GM. I love my little centerpiece too. It turned out just like I wanted. YES time change always gets me for a few weeks. I honestly like more daylight time in the afternoons. When it gets dark...I feel I need to wind her down a little! LOL!

  3. Wow! All ready for Christmas already? And here I am trying to put away Halloween and bring out the Pilgrims for Thanksgiving. But I must admit in my mind I am wishing I could start my Christmas decorating. Normally I always wait until after Thanksgiving, but I'm just more in the mood for Christmas decorations this year. Your table centerpiece is amazing! You are very clever!!! And I LOVE the little tree for your grandgirls' playroom. I know they will squeal with delight when they see it. I am sorry to hear you've had the shingles, but am glad it was a mild case. That can be very painful. I'm glad your daughter has been able to help you. You look so cozy comfy in your Christmas jammies and socks. Yep, you are making me want to just skip the pilgrims this year...but then again...well, we'll see...Have a blessed week!!!

    1. Pam, for years I waited till Thanksgiving weekend to put up my tree and decor for Christmas. But, we have Thanksgiving at my FIL each year and I decorate for Fall in early September. AND...I just love the Christmas decor. The lights, sounds and smells. I've decided the more I age the more I want to do the things that bring me absolute Joy and Christmas is one of them.

  9. Oh Cindy, I’m praying your shingles are over soon! I had a light case right after our daughter’ wedding, the same time I found out Andy was moving to Montana and right about the time we moved into the new house. Even a light case is no fun! I still have residual effects (itching in that area of my back every night) even after 5 years. I love how your centerpiece turned out!! Love the black and white check! It’s hard to believe your grands are that old but they sure are good looking…just like their grandma, huh?! Wishing you a better week, dear friend. I’ll be keeping you in my prayers. Zenda

  11. Sorry to hear about the shingles, Cindy!

    I'm loving your holiday decor. Dollar Tree has a TON of red truck holiday decor this year.

    I'm not much of a crafter either, but I have a couple of DYI projects that I will attempt to do myself because I can't find it anywhere. If it's not a complete DYI disaster, I'll share it on my blog. LOL.

  18. Oh, sweet friend! I am SO sorry to hear you have been battling shingles! My dear Mom had them, and oh, how she suffered! I trust you are completely well by now. We have our tree up already at our house, too. I don't think Christmas can come fast enough for any of us this year, after all we have all been through lately. The glory of Christmas shines extra bright this year, in spite of all the darkness that has tried to take it from us. God bless you and your dear family this Christmas season!

    I am so sorry you have shingles. They are horrible. That reminds me to go get my shingles shot. Of course it is not covered by insurance but the $275 is worth it to not have shingles. Or-if I do get them it would be a lighter case.
    Love your Christmas table topper-the roses were the perfect finishing touch.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a yard

{Happy 46th Wedding Anniversary To Us}

  Happy October everyone! I wanted to pop in today and share a few pictures. Marty and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary on September 23.  Oh it seems so long ago that we said "I Do". We started dating when I was 16. Married at 18 and began a family at 20. Needless to say we have surely grown up together. Praise the Lord that we are growing "Older" together.  We decided since it had been about 8-9 years since we had been to Savannah, Ga. that we would take a weekend there and just enjoy a scenic luncheon cruise.  We enjoyed walking River street and sightseeing, shopping and eating of course! It was a nice get away and perfect for us as we are simply two imperfect people that fit perfectly together.  I did spot Santa while in Savannah though! YES, I love Christmas so I had to stop at several Christmas shops! We've had outings that have kept us quite busy and we have surely been blessed to be able to attend our grands functions and our little outings toget

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th
