{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{My Adventures This Week}

Well since Adventure is my WORD for this year I ventured out over the weekend and bought myself a new hat! I love hats and don't wear them often. Well, except for when I am at the beach. I am always a little self-conscious about wearing a hat because my hair is short and I have such a small head but guess what? I AM VENTURING OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE this year! (In different areas of life). Life is too short not to enjoy some fun things even when they may carry you a tad out of your comfort zone. I will be sure to post a picture with my new cute hat especially since I have a new outfit to go with it! LOL!
I am enjoying using my new air fryer. Several of you dear blogging friends sent me a couple of recipes to try and I will be trying them. I decided to make some simple canned biscuit donuts using the air fryer as I had a hankering for something a little sweet.
No fuss, no grease and no failure here! YUM!
4 minutes to preheat and 5 minutes to cook!  Air Fryer Cinnamon Donuts
1 can of biscuits (5 in a can)
Melted butter
Cinnamon and sugar
Lightly rub olive oil in your fryer. Preheat on 360 for 4 minutes. Place donuts in fryer and cook on 360 for 5 minutes. While donuts are cooking mix together some sugar & cinnamon. Melt a little butter in microware. When donuts are done simply brush on a little butter with a pastry brush on both sides and coat in your sugar and cinnamon. Fixed my sweet tooth for sure.
I love to cook and bake so needless to say I love ALL things kitchen! I made a pot of deer stew in my Instant pot and I am telling you, you could cut the meat with a fork. Preparation took longer than cooking it. In less than 40 minutes my stew with gravy was done and supper was ready.
I done the 10 year photo challenge with my girls. My first thought was, "Dang we've aged". My 2nd thought was "Dang y'all had some fat faces 10 years ago. LOL! But my final thought was, "Thank you Lord! We are still here, still smiling and still loving one another.

I decided for this year to make a Focus Board for each month. With retirement drawing near I felt my January focus was perfect for me.

I shared with you last week about trying to choose a Bible Study to do on my own at home and I had been gifted several. So I chose this one...SEAMLESS written by Angie Smith.
On the first few pages of the study these words jumped out at me. WE HAVE A CHOICE!  I've just gotten started with this study but I think I am going to enjoy it.

So what do you all do with your Christmas Cards that you receive each year? My oldest daughter shared this idea some years back and I find it most rewarding in several different ways. I take each card and in no particular order I pull one from the stash. Whether it's a card from a person, a couple or a family I pray for them on a particular day. I jot their name in my journal and carry them to the feet of Jesus that day. That brings me such joy. Though they may not know that I am praying for them, God does because He listens. I've done different things to recycle Christmas cards over the years. I have framed some as part of my Christmas decor. Some, I have cut down and made gift tags out of. What do you do with yours? I'd love to hear different ways of using them.

Well, since my word for this year is ADVENTURE I am off to adventure into my recliner! YEP, it's about that time of the day for me. I want to say thank you to of all you that have been so faithful to blog with me his past year...some for years.  I've surely made some great friends and many blogging peeps that I know are only a prayer away. I hope that your week is wonderful. May the Lord bless you on your ADVENTURE this week.
And...speaking of prayer, I'd appreciate a little prayer for my old heart this week. It will surely be a bittersweet time as my last day on the job will be Thursday. I will be acknowledge this coming Sunday for my many years of service. NEW ADVENTURES!

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  1. I LOVE hats. When my hubby and I got married I had 21 hats---to go with all my working girl clothes. LOL. I don't wear them much anymore but still love them. That is a really cute one you found.
    I have not tried the air fryer donuts yet but need to do that. I do use the air fryer every day though.
    I hope you have a wonderful, blessed week ahead. xo Diana

  2. I love your hat and can't wait to see you in it!! I can imagine you will look pretty sharp!! And those donuts sure look good! I don't have an air fryer and haven't thought I needed one, but you may convince me yet. That venison stew sure sounds and looks good. I am so happy for you to be retiring, but I know it will be definitely bittersweet. When you've been someplace for that long, well, you've got lots of special memories there I am sure. But God has some wonderful ADVENTURES in store for you I am certain, so just buckle your seat belt and hang on tight and get ready for the ride! May God richly bless you as you DELIGHT in Him!!

  3. I so wish you lived nearby....I know you would be such a positive inspiration!!! I just told hubby today I thought I wanted an air fryer...those donuts looks so yummy!!! As to Christmas cards...we get mostly family picture ones and I can't bare to throw them out. What a great idea about praying for those people! If there is a pretty picture on the front (instead of the family) I may cut it out and use it in crafting in some way. I commented on your last post about your retirement but I'll say again CONGRATS. I know you will enjoy your retirement but (in my opinion) it does take awhile to adjust, especially if you loved your job. May God bless you in whatever new adventures you partake of:)

I like your new hat and have one that is similar. I inherited several hats that were my mom's. My friends borrow then when we go to teas. I need to get myself to bed. Have a nice week!

In the past I've made tags and ornaments out of the non photo cards but I haven't done that in awhile! I'll be thinking of you this week as you finish up your job. xo

I don't hate it as much now that I'm used to it! lol Enjoy your week! Hugs! PS I think you look better 10 years later....how did you manage that?

  9. Cute hat! Can't wait to see a photo of it with your new outfit!

    Forgive my ignorance, but how does an air fryer fry foods without oil?

    So I'm a card hoarder and have kept the letters and cards (Christmas, birthday, etc.) I've received. I really like how you pray for the card sender.

    Congrats on the retirement! I was actually discussing retirement with a co-worker today. Alas, I still have many years to go...

    1. Margie, I didn't understand it either until my daughter Melissa explained it to me. She uses one almost daily since she works and has two very active girls. It saves her time and she loves the healthier side of air fryer. I read that Unlike other fryers, where oil is needed to fry foods, the air fryer relies solely on circulating hot air to fry its foods. You will have to read up on it. I have been amazed thus far how good the good taste.

  10. Your new hat is so cute!! You made me LOL about the “fat faces”. I was looking at pics of my hubby and I on our 25th wedding anniversary and I thought the same thing about myself!
    I’m so glad that you love your air fryer. Those donuts look so good! I’ve always loved those canned biscuit ones.
    Thank you for the idea of praying for the Christmas card sender. That’s the best!

  12. Girl adventure is a perfect word for you. You and that sweet family do the best adventures and have so much fun doing them. You will love having the extra time with retirement. When I retired at 50 I thought I would be bored and sad to not have my job but I found the opposite I am busier now than I was when I worked. Love the hat. Happy Tuesday. xoxo

  14. There's a hat very much like this sitting on a lamp shade in my bedroom. I love it, but have never worn it. Maybe my niece (a hat wearer) would like it.

    You are brave to show a ten year photo comparison. You were cute then and you're cute now.

    Happy adventuring!

  15. good morning, friend! I love your take on those photos we all have that show the passing of time. it seems impossible that we've reached 'this age' ... and yet God continues to open new doors and adventures to us. we have so much to be grateful for.

    He is so good!

May Jesus hold you close, and may the adventures He has prepared for you bring many happy moments and joys! Sending much love to you and praying for you.

  18. I love hats too and I am so happy about your retirement...and as for praying over a card; girl...each night before going to bed, me and Lord have a great conversation and I pray over each and every one of you. I wonder if he is wondering, "Linda, speed it up, gf, I already know your heart." grin--I get this distinct feeling that Liam is standing there next to the Lord saying, "That's my mom, she prays for everyone and everything." another grin (and its OK, I can actually say Liam's name now without bursting out in tears--the good Lord is working on my heart--not that I am mad, just sad. Does that make sense?)

    ANYWAYS, I am looking forward to meeting up with you soon. Now listen, I'm pleasantly plump, I ain't no skinny Minnie, you hear me? LOLOLOLOLOL

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
