{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{Retirement has been BUSY}

Well friends, RETIREMENT hasn't really hit me yet though I did spend a few mornings in front of a nice warm fire drinking coffee and living the retirement life! The weather was perfect and I did enjoy it. However, I decided to do some decluttering beginning with my SHE-SHED! MERCY! I could have owned my own little thrift store I am afraid. I finally began to see a light at the end of the tunnel yesterday. I got rid of TONS!!! It felt so good to purge! Believe me, that is saying a lot for someone that LOVES to save everything. But...I felt it was time to declutter my life. Now onto other projects.

I did take a day off though and I spent the day with my oldest grandchild and granddaughter. I love spending time my grands but rarely do we get to spend time one on one with each other. Each of the six will have their own dates with Nana of their choosing.

Duncan's, Chili's, and Movies was on our list of things to do. We did have just enough time to browse in one store. We had a great day together. Raygen was the first one to call me Nana. Oh how I love that name!

I did stop one morning around 10:45 from my decluttering and decided to have brunch. I made myself an omelet in the air fryer using a 6 inch cake pan. Turned out pretty yummy.

On another day of taking a break from decluttering I fixed myself a grilled turkey and cheese sandwich in the air fryer. I am really liking my air fryer a lot.

The finance secretary that works one day a week at the church I retired from sent me this picture with a note saying how sad it was to see my desk unattended and not to see or hear me. It made me a little sad but was good to know I was missed.

One morning after receiving several text and phone calls about people being so very sick with this strand of covid my heart became a little heavy. It is simply awesome at how God will use even DECLUTTERING to remind you that He is in control. I was going through 30 plus years of bible study books I have done and out falls this little card from a study I done last year. JUST LIKE GOD to show HIMSELF to us just when we need Him.

I hope you all have a great week.  I have appointments this week, visit with my mom, cooking for a funeral at our church and decluttering my little home office. I am not sure how I worked now! LOL!

Marty made this picture last week but I am really liking MONDAYS! LOL!

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

    1. Girl, I have decided in a short amount of time that I there will ALWAYS be decluttering to do! Mercy. But, I am beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I hope you have a wonderful week.

  2. You have been quite busy already in your first week of retirement! Man! You'd better slow down and take more time to smell the roses, or coffee, or whatever, before you wear yourself out! LOL. I wish I had your level of energy. I have so many things that need to be done, but haven't had much energy in a long time to accomplish very much. If I could get these different little nagging health issues taken care of, I would be able to do more. But one day at a time. God is with us and we are so thankful. Yes, He is in control in ALL things. Enjoy your wonderful days with your family and in doing the things you enjoy most. So very happy for you, my friend. You make me smile!!

    1. Thank you Pam. I have been and will continue to pray for you Pam. Asking God to bring total healing and give you strength. I am praying that I will find balance here. Marty said I don't know how to be still and relax and there is surely a lot of truth in that. But, I am praying for balance. I hope your week is well with your soul dear lady.

  4. Hi Cindy, I am so happy for you! Are you going to spend more time in your She Shed? I like to take each grand for one on one too! I need to use my air fryer more often. Where do you find your recipes? I shared some Bible journaling pics at my last post. I am not an official Lifegroup leader teaching Bible journaling. Enjoy your week!

    1. Girl, I have about got the She-Shed looking like I want it too. Almost through in my little home office which was a piece of cake compared to that shed!!!!! I get lots of recipes from Pinterest. I am enjoying using it. I keep it in my pantry and take out as I need as it's not heavy at all. The only large appliance I leave on my counter is coffee pot! That's a daily MUST use piece! LOL!

  9. Love the idea of individual dates with the grandkids!

    Good for you for tackling the Herculean task of decluttering your she-shed. I don't judge because I probably have enough teawares to open up a thrift store too!

  13. Aw, sweet friend! It is just wonderful to know that you are so free now to enjoy life and do the things that make you happy! I can't imagine how much they miss you being in your office, but it makes me so thankful to know you are home and able to be with your dear grands and work on projects. And you know how much I love decluttering and minimizing! There is nothing like it. It gives you the best feeling to get it done and you just feel so much lighter. You so deserve this blessed season of life. Sending you much love and many hugs and blessings!

  15. What a wonderful post! I enjoyed every little bit of it, but especially that God spoke to you while “de-cluttering!” Because isn’t that just the best ever thing?! I know you will enjoy being retired. I’m looking forward to that time! What a lot of wonderful times you have ahead of you, I hope you enjoy your one-on-one time with each of your darling grandchildren. Have a blessed week! Lidy

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
