{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{WHERE DID OCTOBER GO?}

 Good Sunday afternoon y'all. Where in the world has the month of October went too? My girls and I just said today that it seems that Christmas is knocking on the door already. Whew! But I will tell you a secret.....I've already been listening to a little Christmas music! LOL! I was creating a Christmas music playlist and the next thing I knew I was singing Christmas carols!

Marty and I managed to get away to do a little hunting in those Georgia Pines and I never tire of seeing the cotton fields. I will miss seeing those beautiful puffs of white cotton when it's harvested.

There is just something about sitting in a tree stand and enjoying nothing but nature and God.

The trip paid off as Marty was able to harvest several deer and his dad came to help us process as we like to process our own meat if possible.

I did get a little time on the mats last week and made my instructor some homemade chicken noodle soup. I loves soups all year round. I am ready for a pot of chili too and I don't care if it is hot! LOL! We live in Florida!

The youngest grandgirlies went to the Pumpkin Patch that is hosted annually by one of our local churches. They enjoy it so much.

Aren't my girls just adorable?

We had our Homecoming parade on Thursday and the kids love it. They get to see all the beautiful girls that are on the homecoming court ride in their fancy rides with their escorts. Two of my grands also participated in the parade so that makes it even more exciting.

I had a sweet surprise this week when a childhood friend gifted me with Santa yogi's and another childhood friend gifted me with fresh lemons from her tree. I love anything lemon!

We decided to smoke chicken for our Sunday dinner yesterday and it was so good. We've enjoy our Orion cooker so much. So little work and yet it produces perfection every time.

I always try to make something "Pumpkin" during the fall holidays so I made two pumpkin rolls. We enjoyed it today after dinner with a cup of coffee. Some will be gifted tomorrow.

Y'all....I am still trying to dabble a bit with my new hobby of painting and well, I've decided this might not be my calling but I sure am having fun. I even got brave enough to sign my name on this one. LOL!!! I've decided that it must be a therapy of some kind for me. Just not a very good one!

I hope that you all have a wonderful week and that you do something for yourself. Maybe you can call it THERAPY! May November bring you a bounty of blessings that will overflow with goodness. I'll be popping by to visit this week.

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  1. Your little Pumpkin Patch grandgirlies are adorable. You do have a beautiful family.

    Wonderful that you get a freezer stocked with venison. That's a very good thing. My youngest grandson got his first deer yesterday. I understand that he is pretty sore today from hauling it out of the woods. He and his grandfather will be processing it.

    Thank you for the best wishes for a good November. Goodness, yes, the months do roll around quickly.

  2. Happy Times with your beautiful family! And how wonderful your hunting time paid off so well! Love all your pretty things...those lemons sure look good!! Usually the ones from trees are more lumpy looking! LOL. What cute Santas! That pumpkin roll looks good enough to eat too! And I think your painting is lovely! Nothing wrong with that! I would love to learn to paint, but I really don't have the time or patience for it now. I don't like waiting for things to "dry" before I can do the next step. LOL. Those cotton fields sure are pretty!! Looks like snow! Hope you have a blessed and wonderful November...the month to really be thankful for all that God has done for us all year long...as we truly are thankful all the time...but Thanksgiving is special. Just doesn't seem possible it's already here...and then Christmas...wow...where did this year go??? God bless you dear friend...

    1. Heather, you would love those old cotton fields where we hunt. I had the blessing one year of being able to pick some of the cotton with permission of the land owner of the land that we lease. I used some for wreaths.

    I'm not going to judge you for listening to Christmas music already. When the calendar turns to November, I'm going to start listening to my all-time favourite Christmas song, "All I Want for Christmas is You".

  10. Yes, you do have a beautiful family, Cindy. How wonderful to get your deer and process them. Your pumpkin roll looks so good and one of my all time favorite desserts that’s for sure. I need to make one. Your gifts from friends were so sweet and how kind of you to make soup for your instructor. I’m sure she was grateful. I’m not ready for Christmas songs yet, but I’m glad you are! Happy November blessings to you!

    I'm glad you and hubby got away for some Rest and Relaxation.
    I'm impressed with your painting. I have no talent there unless it is paint by number and even that I'm not sure!
    The cotton fields are beautiful.
    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. We will be in Colorado.

  15. I’m having trouble with your blog showing up on Bloglovin and have fallen behind on reading your posts. 😩 I just stopped by for a visit and it looked like you were enjoying the end of October! I have (and continue) to dabble with several different crafts and, although I’m not that great-yet- at them, I do enjoy the process and it feels good to stretch myself a bit. I’m wishing you and your family a blessed Thanksgiving! Zenda

  16. Hello, sweet Cindy! I am SO sorry I didn't see this post. It is just so aggravating that I am no longer getting the emails, and I often forget to look up the blogs I follow to see if there is anything new. I LOVE your painting! I think it is definitely something you should pursue. You did a great job! And yes, your girls are all so beautiful! Just like their mama. I trust the Lord will bless you and Marty and your family with a wonderful 2023! Sending much love to you today.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
