Oh my! It's been a month since I have blogged. I honestly have found it hard to keep up but I am blaming on family time! What better explanation could I have huh? Well, maybe BAKING ! Vanilla cake with chocolate sauce filling and cool whip with powdered sugar icing topped with sprinkles. Chocolate with fresh strawberry filling with buttercream frosting and a touch of candy pearls. Butter cake with buttercream icing and chocolate sauce. There has been a whole lot of baking going on at my house. I get in these moods at times. Family & friends have enjoyed my gifts of love. My daughter Melissa and I carried my granddaughter Kyleigh and one of her sweet friends to see Snow White. We had such a fun time with the girls. Our family enjoyed watching our granddaughter Adalynn in her first cheer competition. Her team won 1st place. Our granddaughter Mallory attended her Junior prom and had the best time. I've decided that blue is her color! I thought this was the cutest pi...
Hoping this finds my sister bloggers doing well on this windy Sunday afternoon. Yep, we've got a little wind howling around here and a tad cool but I am enjoying a lazy afternoon. My Sunday lunch crowd (my family) have left for the day so I am kicked back.
Sunday menu today consisted of:
Chicken and dressing
Giblet gravy
Italian green beans with ham
Mac & Cheese
Homemade chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and chocolate ganache.
Yep, they are little spoiled at Nana's house.
I am not a huge fan of cakes with icing but it must have been good as one of the grands had two slices.
These gals and I have been friends for more years than I remember and since we've all retired within a few months apart in retirement and age (dating back to 4th grade in school) we try to get together once every 4-6 weeks. We always do something extra for our birthdays but was a tad late celebrating mine this year together due to other appointments that was a must. We always have a great time together. We act like teenage girls, talking for hours.
One of my friends made this adorable bird bath or feeder. I am using as a bird bath for now but isn't she a cutie. The other friend gifted me with shopping money so of course we had to do a little shopping that day. LOL!

Marty and I decided to grill a stuffed venison back strap and oh my was it so tender, juicy and good. The wrapped bacon keeps the meat so moist. We ate off it for several days.
My daughter sent this picture to me that she snapped of our youngest granddaughter, Annaleigh. Isn't this just the cutest? She had a little tea party for all of her lions. I gave that little tea set to her and her sister some years ago but she's old enough now to play with alone without breaking it.
I have been wanting to get on the "Kombucha train" but just haven't. I thought about trying my hand at making my own but I guess I am too lazy. This brand came highly recommended by a friend. I did ask my primary doctor about it and she suggested I only drink 4 ounces a day. I mainly wanted to try it for the probiotics and antioxidants but also was told it was great for inflammation. Would love to hear thoughts on Kombucha if any of you have any.
I will close today with my March focus board. I enjoy doing a monthly focus board as it keeps me focused. It's such a great way to try and memorize scripture too.
I hope that you all have a wonderful week. Focus on what you can do to be a blessing to someone this week. It doesn't have to be grand and elaborate to be a blessing.
Hugs and blessings, Cindy
The cake you made looks decadent and delicious, I can understand one of the grands enjoying two slices :)
ReplyDeleteKombucha has grown in popularity in recent years. I am not a medical professional but it is my understanding it is deemed safe to take up to four ounces a day of kombucha, but it is always best to check with your own doctor/medical team before starting any supplements.
Hoping your weather turns a little better for you soon.
Sending my good wishes.
All the best Jan

Thanks Jan. Weather turned to quite nasty here.
DeleteYour Sunday menu sounds awesome...you're obviously a GREAT cook. The cake looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteNice that you could get together with friends. There's just nothing like old friends that you share a lot of history with.
Love seeing Annaleigh having a tea party with her lions💗💗💗💗💗💗
Have a great week.
Thanks GM.
DeleteThank you so much. We love venison.
ReplyDeleteIt is always enjoyable to see you post, Cindy. It is storming here in Ocala right now (Monday at 7:11 am). We did not get rain yesterday...it looked like it wanted too though. ANYWAYS, Happy belated birthday my friend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda.
DeleteYour words, "Focus on what you can do to be a blessing to someone this week." -- such good advice and I'm taking it!
ReplyDeleteThe blessing is always more for me.
DeleteOh what a wonderful post from start to finish! I love seeing you with your girlfriends and that birdbath is gorgeous! I LOVE it! I'm sure the birds will too! That cake looks too good to eat! I can imagine it must have been rich and delicious. I LOVE seeing your granddaughter having a tea party with her lion friends. I can just imagine the little conversation she is having with them. So sweet. Your focus board is perfect with just the right verses for all of us. Thank you for sharing your days with us. This was delightful. It's always so wonderful to see you and know how wonderfully God has healed and blessed you! praise God!
ReplyDeleteThank you Pam.
DeleteYour chocolate peanut butter cake looks delicious! I would have also consumed multiple slices!
ReplyDeleteAnnaleigh's tea party pic is adorable! I've tried Kombucha drinks before and they tasted like soda to me, but maybe that's because the drinks were carbonated.
The cake was a hit with the family for sure.
DeleteHi Cindy. I am sorry I am so late in commenting. Your Sunday lunch sounds fabulous and wow the cake looks scrumptious. It is always special to get together with friends. The bird bath is beautiful. Your little granddaughter is precious! You are a trophy of God’s amazing Grace!
ReplyDeleteThank you Pam.
DeleteThe cake and the Sunday menu looked amazing! How fun to get together with dear (not "old" ) friends! What a sweet pic of your grand having a little tea party with her friends. I like that brand of kombucha--pink lady is my favorite. I also like the GT brand. I don't drink it often but every once in awhile I enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather Lou.
DeleteWhat a rare gift--friends that have stayed connected since fourth grade! Shared history is a treasure that only family and old friends get to enjoy. That bird bath is beautiful! I hope you found a spot for it that allows you to see the inside! Love the photo of your granddaughter enjoying tea with her lions--such a cute tea set! Thank you for a lovely "visit" here, Cindy!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by.
