Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too. Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway. We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20. We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...
There is nothing any better to me than to sit down with my cup of coffee in hand and read, journal, study Bible study and just relax. Love it! I have many devotionals that I pull from but one that I use on a regular basis is "Experiencing God" by Henry & Richard Blackaby. I've not only taken this study but have taught the workbook. This is a book or workbook study that I think every Christian needs to take. I have the paper back book of this as well and I use it so much for devotionals. I've referenced to it so many times that I actually know the page numbers of some of the things I want to go back and look at. This morning while doing my devotional I came across something that just sort of jumped out at me! I've read it many times already but this morning it LEAPED off the page! God is so cute like that isn't He? He knows what we need when we need it.
With coffee in one hand and my book in the other God began speaking to my heart.....
The piece I was reading was speaking about when the Holy Spirit speaks something to our hearts then it's our job to do something with it. We are not to just sit and 2nd guess God nor allow what He has spoken to us to just lay dormant. We are to act upon it. If we don't we give Satan time to steel that away from us. "What you do after the Holy Spirit speaks will have enormous consequences for you and THOSE AROUND YOU!
Did you see that? So many times we launch ourselves into a debate type of discussion with God questioning the correctness of His directions. We are so busy debating with Him that we miss it! And guess what? That means someone else will miss it too!
If God speaks to your heart that you need to call someone today and invite then to church... Do it! If you don't then someone else probably will. And it may not a Bible, Believing, Teaching, Church!
If God speaks to your heart that He has a ministry for you to do at church or in your community....Do It! That ministry for the Lord is not only for you but for so many others! Someone may come to know Jesus as their Savior ONLY because you chose to be obedient!
If you feel the leading of God telling you hug the un-huggable then Do it! That may be the only HUG that person ever gets!

Whatever His voice is whispering for you to do for HIM do not hesitate! What we DO and DON'T do affects us and others.
A former Pastor's wife said once, "When God Speaks move quickly....if you don't then you give Satan opportunity to step in.

ReplyDeleteAnd if you do not heed to the prompting of the Holy Spirit it will come back to your mind later and it can be the source of much regret, and guilt, and the never ending question of "What if I had ______. This is the voice of experience here.
ReplyDeleteYou are right...can't go wrong with your Bible and a cup of coffee....
ReplyDeleteAnd why do we 2nd guess God like we do? Thanks for this post today. I needed it. Linda Sapp
Hi, Cindy. Thank you so much for visiting my Valentine party and commenting--it brought me to your beautiful blog, which I will now follow. Today's post was particularly poignant. Thank you. ~Zuni
ReplyDeleteOh, this definitely spoke to me. Sometimes I'm too busy getting others' opinion of what I think He's telling me...instead of just trusting HIS Spirit within me!! Great reminder, sweet friend!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder to be still and listen to God's voice... then follow through!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me at A Season for All Things. I'm youre newest follower and look forward to reading more of your devotions and studies. ~ Ellen
how true... we have to listen!! we have to make time to listen...I think that is the hardest part b/c the world is so full of noise and we have to make an effort to shut it out...it is soo worth that effort!
ReplyDeleteA great post, Cindy. I am so glad I decided to stop by today. You words spoke to my heart.
ReplyDeleteMy devotional right now is "Jesus Calling". Hmmmm...I do need to listen more, but really related to what you said about not putting off what we are called to do.
Thanks for visiting my blog again.
Beautiful post, Cindy...Chrstine
ReplyDeleteBible plus coffee....mmm, mmm, can't go wrong!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Grace
Cindy, I am not real sure about the coffee part as I don't like it but I sure love me a coke while reading the Word! LOL! Thanks for this post. Made me wonder how many times the Holy Spirit had spoke something to my heart to do for Him and I have chosen to ignore it! And not only did that effect me but others as well. Forgive me Lord for not being obedient. Thank you for this post. Kasey R
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you shared this post. You know I love devotionals too and I now have this one on my must get list. Your so right and I've not acted when I should but rather mulled over it with God. Thanks for giving me that gentle nudge to listen more and then take steps in the secure knowledge that God is in control and I'm only an instrument of his using.
ReplyDeleteLove you...Tracy :)
