Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too. Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway. We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20. We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...
One thing that 9/11 taught us is that tomorrow is not promised!

If only we could apply that line of thinking to other areas of our life. The truth from the 9/11 tragedy is some of us now realize that the nice cars, big homes, fancy clothes, big diamonds, lavish trips and more, are here today and gone tomorrow. Maybe we have come to understand, as the Apostle John came to understand, that serving God is much more important than honoring our own desires. “For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.” (1 John 2:16-17)
We mourn for the families of that tragic day and pray for them. But may this tragic day be a reminder to us that our life on this earth is short. What are we doing with our today? If TODAY ends for you, where will you spend eternity?

Good reminder, Cindy. I am one who is guilty of having too many material obsessions but I know it's all temporary, I do not forget my faith in God though, I am very grateful to Him for all His blessings....Christine
ReplyDeleteSo true Cindy!!! Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteOh, Cindy, this is so true. I've been watching all of the memorials and tributes today and my heart is so saddened I just had to turn off the TV. Thank you for popping in to see me and I would love for us to be able to have tea together!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Very important message Cindy. The only thing we take with us when we die is our service and obedieance to God. We should pack a suitcase every night with the things we did that day to bring Him glory.
ReplyDeleteAmen Cindy! You said it so perfectly.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
How easy it is for us to forget that God has not promised that we would live forever! We get our priorities wrong and we focus on things that are not eternal if we don't keep our eyes on Him. Thank you for sharing this with us. May we never forget!
