{May Has Arrived}

  I sure hope that your May has kicked off to a good start. The heat is settling in quick around our parts.  We've kicked off May with watching our softball girls win the District. Next week we start another round of ball. It's so much fun to watch these girls and especially our girl, Mallory. She plays centerfield.  We were so proud of both teams that played against each other. They all, hand in hand gathered together as one of our girls prayed for the game and also for one of our young men that was in a horrific car accident and fighting. His name is Kaden if you can think to lift him up to our Lord.  I had the opportunity recently to speak to a group of women at a ladies luncheon event at a local church. Oh we had so much fun. I wished I had gotten pictures of the beautiful decorations. We had a TEA PARTY and we each kept the cup that we drank out of it.  Isn't she just lovely? Easter has come and gone but we sure have a great time with family. We gather each...

Wednesday in the Word---Slow down and smell the Roses

I've heard the phrase, "Slow down and Smell the roses" my whole life. I've often said this to others but have been told this by others many times when I have allowed the busyness of life to overwhelm me. The phrase actually means to stop stressing out, over thinking, or complaining. put your troubles in perspective and try to enjoy the short time you have on earth.

I decided to do a little research on the phrase and here is what I found: I was unable to find its exact origin, however it is believed to have originated in the United States. Some believe that it dates back around 100 years; however, there is no documentation supporting that belief. One particular reference suggested that it originated with a album released in the early 1980's by Ringo Starr. The album was titled 'Stop and Smell the Roses," however it is my contention that the phrase was in use long before Starr recorded his album. One reference suggests that 'stop and smell the roses' was used in conversation between friends, one of whom had a beautiful rose garden. The friend worked so diligently in the rose garden that she did not take the time to enjoy her work. Her friend gently reminded her to stop working and experience the beauty she had created. (Found on line)

Sometimes we get so caught up in the things of this life that we truly do not "Stop and Smell the Roses".  I don't know about you but at times I need a reminder...a reminder to enjoy life to the fullest and to slow down a tad, catch my breath and to simply look around me at the things that are important and that bring me pleasure...It's the SIMPLE things in life that bring the greatest pleasures!

A simple little fruit cup with cool whip in one of my pretty little dishes.

The smile on my great-nephews face that is priceless!

Being able to admire my cute little Tea pot I got for Valentine's Day.

Spending time with precious friends.

The smell of a cake coming out of the oven.

Walking into the grandbabies play room to find toys they left out....For Nana to put up!!!!

The fishing pond that has brought our family so much fun and joy.

Fire wood sitting beside our barn that we have enjoyed all winter long outside and inside!

This cute little fella simply because he makes me smile.

Walking on my front porch to only find that my grands has decided that my little birdies need to be in the bird house and not on my shelf!!!! LOL!

Life truly does have some simple pleasures for us to enjoy...If we would only Stop to Smell the Roses!

Speaking of "Stopping"....think I will stop to enjoy these little pleasures of life!

Psalm 16:11, You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

We may always remember to enjoy Christ, the very one who gave us life!

  3. So needed this reminder. Whenever I take the time to slow down I find that I connect with myself and others on a deeper level. It reminds me to live my life with compassion. To be kind to myself and to others. It is a feeling of peace. Have a blessed day my friend...Johnna D.

  8. Oh, Cindy - you are a delight! Loved reviewing your posts of late - all that great mountain loot - my, where do you keep it all??

    Love all your green for St. Patrick's Day - and the lesson of the roses that smell so sweet with such ministry to spirit and soul if we take the time to glory in their goodness - truly a gift from God.
    Thanks - I needed "permission" to do so today. That old chatterbox in my head has been making me drive the work wagon with much stress and guilt when I long for some play time.

    Hoping to get some by Sunday - still haven't finished spring-ifying my home decor after putting winter away. Will be very wintry in our house the next couple of weeks with lows in the 20s and our heater broken. Waiting for the conversion to gas so we're making it on space heaters and thanking God the whole way through it!

    Hooray for spring - here soon!

    Joy!

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{March Is Underway}

  Welcome to March! The little grands and I kicked off March with a sleepover at Nana's house. They are so much fun and so energetic. COFFEE has earned my love forever for sure! LOL!  We started out with a sack lunch from Burger King (their favorite) and headed to a cute little park that is only about 2 miles from where I live. The girls has so much fun. The girls put in for Nana to ride the horsey. Well, y'all know I had to show those littles that Nana still can do that!!! Two of the girls wanted to play with the old Halloween wigs but the youngest one opted out. She said it made her head itch. LOL!  We had a tea party for breakfast. Our tea party consisted of smoked sausage, peaches and chocolate chip cookies. Yummy to my tummy the youngest one said! I finally got around to making myself a healthy fruity Icee. I made the girls snow cones out of the same healthy fruits. Guess I needed too so they wouldn't be so hyped up from all the cookies when returning home. Hee-hee!...

{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...
