February days are now gone and March has officially kicked in. I finally purchased a new monthly focus board. We ventured out for a day date which included a movie. I love our day dates. I will give my honest review about the movie for those interested. I wanted to see this movie as it was based on a true story. I did enjoy the movie but oh my, it was a tear jerker from the get go! It ended good but mercy! Let's just say that I am thankful that no one was sitting close enough to see my tear stained face. I am glad that I saw it but I am good for a while on sad movies, even if they do end good! My oldest daughter, her husband and their son participated in the Spartan race which is a series of obstacle courses that challenge. They done so well. As you can see from the pictures it gets pretty muddy! My three daughters participate each year in the Gate River Run. I love it that they do this together. They have so much support & encouragement from all the onlookers. I am just
Years ago I read the book by Cherie Fuller, "When
Mother's Pray" and it made such an impact on my life with praying for
my children. One of the things she said in her book that made a loud statement
to me was this, "If we aren't praying for our children then who is?
With that being said a group of ladies decided to be a part of the Moms In
Touch Group and for 3 years we had 13 groups with each group consisting of
4 moms each and we met on Wednesday afternoons before our Bible Study class for
one hour to pray for our children. NEVER has anything made such an
impact on me. To this day the 4 of us that was in that group together have a
special bond concerning our children.

Recently I purchased the book and workbook by Stormie Omartian called, "The Power of Praying for Your Adult Children". I began reading the book and could not put it down. I've read the Power of Praying for your children, the Power of praying for your husband and several other books that she has written. I truly enjoy her down to earth yet filled with scripture approach. I would love to teach this study as a class one day.
At the very beginning of her book she points out 7 things that we as parents of adult children MUST KNOW.
1: You need to know it never ends
(once a parent, always a parent)
2: You need to know that YOU can't fix them!
3: You need to know that God can change Everything.
4: You need to know you must quit blaming yourself!
5: You need to know you have to forgive.
6: You need to know there is Only ONE perfect parent.
7: You need to know you can wholeheartedly say, "For this Adult child I have prayed".

I thought again about the words from Cheri Fuller from her book, When Mother's Pray; "If we aren't praying for our children then who is? I thought of this is terms of our adult children too. Though I would love to think that many are praying for my adult children and I do know that they will pray for them If needed but truly, "WHO is praying for my adult children on a regular basis? ME!
I urge you to purchase the book and the work book. I am truly enjoying the light that Stormie is shedding as I read her book.
Have you prayed for your Adult child today?
"All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children".
Isaiah 54:13
Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Thank you for posting this, Cindy! I do pray several times a day for our two adult children. They have been blessed in their lives but, no matter how old they are, you always worry about them. It's so comforting to know
ReplyDeletethat God hears our prayers and is always with them!
Great post. I will have to get that book now! I have a co-worker who has the mind-set of "If I'd been a better mom....and so on. This post is for her and I will be sharing!

Oh my, Cindy! This really speaks to my heart today. I don't say much about my son but he is disabled - agoraphobia and panic attacks. He never leaves his home. He has a wonderful wife who loves him and takes care of him. But sometimes I run out of words as to what to pray for him so I just have to know the Holy Spirit prays for me. You're such a blessing.

Thank you for the reminder to do something that I'm guilty of not doing enough. HOPE your day is awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteCindy, I read this book and several others by Stormie Omartian very recently. I copied some of her prayers. They are very thorough and very meaningful. How awesome to cover our children in prayer!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat post Cindy. I do pray for my adult children. It is the one thing that can calm my heart when I know they are struggling with issues. I also remember to thank God that they know Him and turn to Him to light their path.
