Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too. Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway. We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20. We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu
Marty and I just celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary on September 23rd. On one hand, it seems like it was FOREVER ago that we said "I do" and on the other hand, it really doesn't seem that long ago.
We began dating at the age of 16, married at age 18 and began our family at age 20. WOW! Babies, right? I always said that we grew up with our children.
My friend
Janice told me that most people can't commit 40 days much less 40 years and
that is so very true. God has been so merciful to us over the years and the
grace that He has poured out on us is about more than my little brain can
comprehend. We have been truly blessed and we have not deserved one ounce of
His blessings! We have had hard times, bad times, grief, and to be
totally honest, there were times we both wondered if we would make it! God has
shown us Grace and Mercy over and over again. He sure loves us so much.
The question
was asked to me, "What has been yours and Marty's greatest
accomplishment? Well, I am not too sure about "accomplishment",
but I can tell you what our greatest gifts have been. The Lord
has given us the most precious gifts ever and that was our salvation, our
children and now our grandchildren.
Our three beautiful daughters.
Our oldest daughter Kristy, soninlove Jered, and grandchildren, Raygen and Conner.
Our middle daughter Melissa, soninlove Brad, and our grandchildren Mallory and Kyleigh.
Our youngest daughter Marti Leigh, soninlove David and granddaughter Adalynn.
Our grandchildren
Our Family
YES, We are blessed and blessed beyond measure!

DeleteCindy, congratulations to you both on 40 years of commitment because that is exactly what it takes! That cake is so pretty but I love the topper. You know that I love red and white and all of you look so nice. You have a beautiful family.
ReplyDeleteConnie Royals
Thanks Connie. I love RED so this was easy when the girls said, Mama, you wear a red dress and daddy a white shirt and show up at 6:30 pm. LOL!
DeleteCongratulations, Cindy! I love your old pictures, you are both so cute! You do have a beautiful family. I am glad Irma did not harm you. We all fared out well too but half of our pool cage is gone and our pool is black. A big tree fell on them snd just got that taken care of. Still working on getting quotes on the pool enclosure but they all seem to be very busy cause nobody is calling me back. Happy Anniversary!... Christine
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine. Yes, I am sure all insurance companies are up to their eyeballs right now trying to get things done for the folks that need help. Hoping you get things squared away soon.

ReplyDeleteThanks Heather. All we were told to do was to dress in red and white and be at one of daughter's house at a certain time. Girl, I didn't have to do anything but show up! LOL! It was wonderful. I have trained my girls well.

ReplyDeleteThank you. We did have a wonderful celebration. Sweet fellowship and great food. It was nice.
DeleteAwe, this is just the sweetest! I was 18 when we married and Tommy was 24. It's a good thing he was older or we just might not have made it. He had a lot of patience in those early years while I adjusted to being 1000 miles away from my family. It's now 46 years later! Your girls are just cute as they can be and such precious Grans. Yes, you have been blessed and I share your joy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lea. 46 years later....I would say you both done well. I can't imagine you being so young and so far away from your family. The Lord knew what He was doing didn't He?

ReplyDeleteThank you dear lady.
DeleteMarried at 18?? No wonder you look so young.
ReplyDeleteLOL! When I had our first child at the age of 20 it was told that a nurse walked to my hospital door, looked in and said, "A baby having a baby". When I got married it seemed that everyone got married at 18-20. Now, women are having babies in their 40's!
