It's a tad late to wish a Happy New Year but I sure hope that it's kicked off good for everyone. Ours kicked off with being so THANKFUL for what God has done and is doing. As I told my family as we were reminiscing over 2024, "There is a lot of 2024 I DO NOT WANT A RE-DO but the Lord has surely taught me so very much. I am truly thankful for each breath, each day, family and close friends. We had our three youngest grands for New Years Eve. We had a great time and the girls enjoyed a little fishing, bonfire with their great-grandfather and roasting marshmallows. Their great-grandfather will be 90 years old next month. As most of you know I do a monthly focus board and this makes my 3rd or 4th year. I've lost count. Only fitting that New Beginnings would be my focus for January. This has been so good for me as it sits on my kitchen counter so I can see it daily. Wonderful way to focus and quote God's Word daily. I felt up to hosting a lunch and movie day with ...
The Emotions of Women....WOW...I think most men could write a book on this title couldn't they? I know my husband probably could after raising three girls and then throwing a wife in the midst of the scene. I recently thought about a conversation with another lady that in the midst of our conversation said"my husband is having such a hard time with two females in the house". (she was including herself and their daughter). I couldn't help but chuckle at some of her stories. I thought back to a time when all three of our daughters was at home and between me and them I am quite sure my husband wanted to LEAVE HOME...especially at certain times of the month... Bless him Lord...bless him. That is all I can say.
Females are known for emotions there is no doubt and it's no wonder that most men throw their hands up in the air and say, "I give up! I cannot figure you out! And...whose to blame them right?
But here's the thing....the #1 tool that the enemy will use against us as women is the bondage to emotions! The sooner we understand this the better we can fight against the enemy.
Let's face it, for most of us it probably doesn't take much to get the emotional side of us going. It can be the things in life such as rainy weather, a sleepless night or suddenly realizing that our clothes are too tight! It can be much bigger things such as loosing a loved one, care giving for parents/grandparents, and yes going through the changes of life simply due to age.
But with emotions stemming from the ordinary things in life those emotions tend to cause us to say things out of the ordinary that we shouldn't, behave differently that we normally would, have thoughts that we normally would not have, shut down, close up, and believe things about ourselves and even others that is not true! WHY? Because we based it on FEELINGS! Feelings are normal but can become quite abnormal if not very careful and a tool in the hands of the enemy that he will use against us.
Our emotions and feelings can play tricks on us in ways that we never thought. Being a woman, a mother of three daughters and teaching women for 18 years now I've heard it all and said lots myself simply based on feelings that stemmed from emotions!
Our feelings is simply not a reliable gauge of what is actually true. The truth is that due to our own emotional state our feelings often have very little to do with the reality of life!
Our feelings are constantly changing because our feelings are tied to our circumstances. In the midst of our roller coaster rides that our emotions and feelings tend to take us on the truth is that God loves us no matter what. God is good and He is good all the time whether we feel like He is or not! He loves us whether we feel loved or not. He understands us even when no one else does. We are forgiven whether we feel forgiven or not. He is with us all the time even if we feel forsaken. He hears our cries even if others do not.
The problem isn't that we have emotions! Emotions are actually a gift from God! The problem is when we allow those emotions to surface in ungodly ways. OR, we allow our feelings to get in the way of reality.
May we truly try to focus on the Emotion Maker...Jesus Christ and not allow our emotions/feelings to keep us in bondage.
I didn't say this was easy...but it's doable...with Jesus!
Here is a scripture that I have held too when I feel the waves of emotions turn into feelings that I know are not of God.

ReplyDeleteAmen and amen, Sister! What wonderful insight here, my friend. We don't always heed the wisdom here because we give way to those feelings. And, yes, you are so right...our feelings are based on our circumstances. I love this..."God is good and He is good all the time whether we feel like He is or not! He loves us whether we feel loved or not. He understands us even when no one else does. We are forgiven whether we feel forgiven or not. He is with us all the time even if we feel forsaken. He hears our cries even if others do not." Thank you so much for sharing these important truths with us, my sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteOh Dianna, I appreciate you so much my friend!

ReplyDeleteThanks Linda,
DeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteYour family reminds me of mine, we have four children, one son three daughters and of course me!
Our household was full of emotion and now looking back, many a crisis several times a day. Growing through the word of Christ and increased Bible Studies, I would have liked to have been better equipped to help my daughters manage their lives and understand their emotions when they were all at home. Emotions are just that as you have stated, and if held unchecked they work against us. Such an excellent post, affirming the strength that we can receive only through our relationship with our Heavenly Father.
Warm Hugs,
Jemma
Oh I bet you did have some emotion as well as hormones going on! LOL! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteMy blog reader told me this morning that I had missed some of your posts! Oh, no - so I'm catching up (again!). This is what I needed to read this morning. Thank you for your words. When my children were little I went through a time when I thought my emotions were a bad thing, especially tears. I thought I wasn't strong enough because of them. As I drove to the store one day with two little ones in the back seat I heard Dr. Dobson say not to despise our emotions - because God created us to have them. Realizing that truth set me free that day to understand that my emotions are part of who God created me to be and I can control how they play out. Good or bad.
