Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too. Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway. We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20. We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...
Where would I be without the GRACE of Christ? I shudder to even think about it. How about you?
After doing a little homework I found that in order to learn the definition of God's grace, I needed to understand the Greek and Hebrew words behind this term.
An Old Testament word describing God's grace is chesed. This word speaks of deliverance from enemies, affliction, or adversity. It also indicates enablement, daily guidance, forgiveness, and preservation.
The New Testament word is Charis. It focuses on the provision of salvation.
Definition of God's Grace – How do theologians define it?
What is grace? Grace may be defined as the unmerited or undeserving favor of God to those who are under condemnation.
I don't know about you but I am so grateful for the Grace of God!
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" Ephesians 2:8-10
In honor of the Grace that Jesus has bestowed upon me I'd like to give this beautiful 8x10 portrait to one of you. This is just a simple photo of one of my roses. I turned it into an oil painting and then went back and added some watercolor. Something about it just spoke "Grace" to me. On the portrait you see that it has my logo and has also been downsized so it will not print any larger than a 4x6. But....whoever the winner is I will send you an 8x10 portrait without my logo and ready to frame. All you have to do to enter is comment. On Sunday all names will go into a basket and one lucky winner will be announced on Monday.

In the New Testament grace means God’s love in
action towards men who merited the opposite of love. Grace means God
moving heaven and earth to save sinners who could not lift a finger to
save themselves. Grace means God sending His only Son to the cross so that we guilty ones might be reconciled to God and
received into heaven. ‘(God) hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no
sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

ReplyDeleteOh my, Cindy...where indeed would we be without His grace! I, like you, shudder to think of it. Grace is a word that has been showing up in many places for me of late. When I go to Him in prayer I find the thought often that as I have accepted that grace from Him, how am I extending it to others? Do I automatically jump to conclusions or assume the negative about someone, OR do I extend to them the grace of Jesus' love? I know it is an area where HE is working in my life. Thank you, my sweet friend, for being an instrument He is using in my life. xo
ReplyDeleteOh I know what you mean Dianna. The Lord has to remind quite often of how He has extended His grace to me when dealing with others! Thanks for stopping by to see me! I am so enjoying your James study!
