{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

Wednesday in the Word-Tidbits worth reading

I am one of those people that walk around with a pen, a writing tablet, journal or something to make notes on or you can rest assured I have something nearby. Are you like that? Sometimes someone can say something that I want to remember or it is so profound to me at the moment that I just have to write it down. I have notes all in my Bible. Some things is simply what I feel the Lord is saying to me through the reading of His Word while other things I have jotted down may be something someone else said. I love to look back and read my notes at times. I also have this little book that has little one sentence phrases that others has stated that I love to go back and read at times too. CRAZY at how sometimes it seems to be JUST what I needed to read that day. So for today, I'd like to share some of what I call, "Tidbits". Maybe one of these little tidbits speaks to you.

**  Pray as though everything depends on God. Work as though everything depends on you.

James Croft

** We have to pray with our eyes on God...not on the difficulties.
Oswald Chambers

** If you live for the approval of others you will die by their rejections.
Rick Warren

** Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.
Dr. Seuss

** Lower your expectations of earth. It isn't heaven so do not expect it to be!
Max Lucado

** I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me.
Jesus (John 14:6)

I hope that one of the little tidbits has spoken to your heart today in some way. Always be alert to what others say....you never know when their words can be a source of comfort, a nugget of truth for you or a simple reminder that God loves you with an everlasting love no matter where you are right now in your life.

  3. An old friend told me something I’ll never forget. He said, “If it is of God, it will be Godly.” I serve and amazing awesome God that is not the author of confusion or discourse. To know my God is to know true love. Thank you for sharing these tidbits. I have enjoyed all of them. Ronald Mann

  5. Hi Cindy! This was so good! Love the quotes and yes, sometimes the Lord lets us see just what we need for the day. In the midst of all the horrible things that are happening right now we have to remember, God is good and He is good all the time. Blessings, sweet friend,

  6. Yes, I do love having a notebook...I take note of many quotations and have asked my friends if I may use theirs. People say fascinating things all the time. Corrie ten Boom is a favorite of mine.

  7. Many of them did, Cindy. You shared one just for me (the Rick Warren one) so I wrote that down in my journal (steno pad). I smiled and thought "Cindy is such a classy lady, I bet her journal is real pretty with flowers and ribbons or something!"

    This is a wonderful, loving post and your words so loving.
    Love you back,

    1. I think Mary that Rick Warren one has spoke to many. I know it has to me! Thank you for your sweet words. You are precious! So funny about my journals. You would not believe the different kinds I have....all colors...some plain, fancy and well...each one is different. So many ladies over the years had given me a journal and all are different. My latest one....Hot pink and Black! LOVE IT!

  9. I have so many notes in the margins of my Bible....I just have to write some things down. My Bible is getting old but I can't stand the thought of a new one that would not have all my notes and memos in it. Loved all the quotes!

  11. Good Morning Cindy,
    These are beautiful quotes to share and every single one of them resonated with me. Once I lowered my expectations of earth ( Lucado) and truly, truly leaned on our Heavenly Father my burdens became less heavy. Oh, I still have them -they just feel lighter. Praise God for His Blessings. I look forward to these posts so much, thank you for blessing my day.
    Hugs,
    Jemma

  12. I've often wished I had a pen and paper to write down something I've heard...might have to keep some in my purse. Great quotes. I really enjoyed this post!

  13. The Rick Warren quote really is so true. There was a time in my life that I thought I HAD to have So and So's approval in order to go on with life, but when rejection would come it truly was a kind of "death" for me. I'm grateful to be the wiser for it now. Thank you, my sweet friend, for sharing these Tidbits with us today. xo

  14. I am liking this one - Pray as though everything depends on God. Work as though everything depends on you. I always think prayer should be followed by action . . .

  15. I'm catching up a bit - again! We were out of town for a few days without internet. Loved reading these tibits. My dear, little mother used to have a notebook and pen on the nightstand beside her at night. She often woke up and had thoughts she didn't want to forget. Sometimes they were thoughts she wanted to share in her Bible Study or ministry with children; other times they were creative thoughts about things she loved to do in her ministry to the congregations where my father was the pastor. There times she had humorous thoughts she didn't want to lose. We often heard about her thoughts over breakfast the next morning,

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
