{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{Family, Fun and Giveaway}

I surely hope that you all have had a great weekend and that your week will bring lots of blessings your way. I have sure have had a good weekend.Anytime it's spent with family or friends it's good.

Don't you just love my little sign? My daughter Melissa and I and her two girls had a shopping day and we went to Books A Million. I spotted this little sign and I knew it would be perfect for my little room. Which in reality it is my home office but will always be my little room. More on that later!

I am reminded quite often the words of this sign.

The youngest grandgirl wanted Nana to read to her so down in the floor I went. Now let me go ahead and tell you that getting down in the floor wasn't half bad. GETTING UP? See here, I thought I was fixing to have to call SECURITY to come get me out of that floor!

That grandgirl loved every minute of it though.

Then a trip to Academy was in store and this little thing cracks me up.  She is a "people person" all the way and quickly made friends with the headless man! LOL! She had to try on helmets, then she found a little track she needed to run on and do her daily exercise and of course she needed to sit and rest.

There is never a dull moment when she is around.

We made our way to Panera's, one of my favorite places to eat. The girls got to have their dessert first! YEP, that's what I am talking bout! We had lots of fun shopping.

Of course Nana had to try on different hats.

I sorta like the Tiara the best.

But my favorite picture of the day was with these two cuties.

We had such a good day and then me and man made a trip the next day to none other than Bass Pro Shop. I really needed wanted some new hunting boots.

YEP, I was a happy camper...or huntress!

And my youngest daughter was a happy huntress as well as she got Mama's older boots! Which looks just like they did the day I bought them but I love the "SHE" products for the outdoor woman.

After several more stops my final destination was a trip to Bealls outlet. I always find something there and I especially love to browse through their spices and condiments. You can get the neatest stuff! I love Vidalia Onion and peppercorn dressing and when I saw this in a reusable carafe...well that was like getting two things for the price of one. I use olive oil all the time and this one has lemon and parsley! YAY! I have a recipe I am wanting to try that calls for Sriracha so it came home with me too. Sriracha has become one of the most popular condiments on the market, and for good reason. It adds a kick to your recipes and actually makes what might seem kind of boring exciting to eat! LOL! My man said I have watched entirely too many episodes of Chopped! TRUE! I can't use it to heavily as I love spicy but it HATES ME!  We love Salmon and I am wanting to try out a new salmon recipe with a Sriracha glaze.

Then I was gifted these beautiful paper roses! Oh my! LOVE them!  My first idea was to create a piece for my wall in my little room on canvas with fabric and using some of the paper roses.

I am still not quite sure what I will come up with but I actually love this paper rose sitting in my chair.

We finished off the weekend with church and dinner with my family and celebrated Father's Day with the men in our life along with my soninlove, Jered's birthday.

FAMILY.....God's gift.

Oh, and most of you know how much I love cooking with herbs, especially those I have grown. I have several heirlooms that I must take the time to snap a picture for you to see. My Rosemary has done me well this season. In honor of my little herbs doing so well I want to have a giveaway.

Some months back I showed you all a picture of this cute salt and pepper shaker that I had bought. I actually bought two sets with intentions of gifting one set. So...now I will be sending it to one of you along with this cute hand towel.

All you have to do is tell me what is your favorite herb to cook with. Winner will be announced next week.

In closing I would like to leave this with you today.
God has no problems....only plans
Corrie Ten Boom

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  1. I love all the things in your photos, Cindy! And so lovely to see all the smiles! "Be still and know" is one of my favourite Bible verses. It reminds us to trust in Him and stay calm, that everything will be as it should be. And even though that is not always how we want or expect, it is how it 'should' be. Thank you so much for sharing, dear lady! I hope you have a great week!

    1. Connie, this grandgirl is a hoot and a half! Yes, I am going to love my new boots. Ready to wear them! Not sure what I will do with those flowers. My original idea was to do a canvas piece but one of them especially is so large. I do like them a lot and actually like the one sitting in the chair. I have a friend that said to me once, "Cindy, you do know you can buy herbs cheap at the store in a bottle?". LOL!

What a fun time you had with your grand girls and I know they loved it just as much as you did. And I <3 your new boots, even if I'm not a huntress! LOL Favorite spice....I don't really have one. I did recently buy myself a lavender plant and I can't get enough of running my hands across it for the smell. Can you cook with Lavender? That's something I need to GOOGLE!!! 14. Oh you have the best company when you go shopping Cindy. Those girls are so much fun to go out with. Of course they are lucky that they have such a sweet Nana like you. And now for my herb. My favorite to cook with is Oregano. What sort of Greek would I be if I didn't say that. I put it on almost everything.

    1. Mary, I bet you do use a lot of Oregano. I have some now that I need to be snitching some off of. It is one of my heirlooms and doing better this year than it did last year. Glad you took a break and stopped by to see me today. But I am sitting here wondering what in the world is that woman creating now! LOL!

  15. What a wonderful, jam-packed post, full of fun, laughter, and joy...with family, shopping, cooking...and those huge paper roses! So wonderful! I'm smiling all the way through! Now, you want to know my favorite herb to cook with? Hmmm, well, I use a lot of garlic powder...does that count? Ha Ha. Actually, I've been using more Turmeric lately...found out it was good for us, and I like the flavor it adds to otherwise blah dishes. Basil is another favorite...I guess I'm not a real savvy cook...my husband likes his food pretty simple. But I do try to spice things up a bit now and then and surprise him. Love the salt and pepper shakers and especially the little towel! Grow where you are planted...wonderful advice. We've moved a lot in our lives and it seemed as though we were never "planted" anywhere for very long...but God always found ways to help us "grow" and "bloom" wherever we were. We are finally putting down roots here in the forest where we live...and I love the ways God is growing us here in His garden. Thank you for sharing your "life" with us. I enjoyed spending the day with you! God bless you always.

  17. Oh! How nice of you... Rosemary is my favorite herb to cook with. I love Ree's Smashed Potatoes with rosemary.

    You sure are living the life, all except for getting up from the floor, that is. That rose does look especially nice sitting in the chair like that.

    Have a wonderful vacation with your family. Three daughters? Three sons-in-law? Four grandchildren? Plus two of you = 12. Did I get the equation right?

Your grandgirls look adorable, and I'll take your word for it that they are a fun-loving pair ;) I find I (maybe?) groan a little when I have to get up from kneeling on the floor with my daycare kids. I have a little laugh when they start groaning when they get up too! Sounds like you had a great time shopping ... always more fun with a group, right? Hope this weekend is just as fun.

It's a long drive from Alabama to Dallas and we are going further for a little RnR with them for a lake getaway.

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
