{It's Been A Hot Minute Y'all}

  Well, it's not HOT in my neck of the woods in temperature (not today anyway) but it's sure been a HOT minute since I last posted. For that I am so sorry but it seems my life has been consumed with doctor appointments, tests, and MORE tests, biopsies, surgery and so much more. One day at a time sweet Jesus is all that any of us can ask for. Wanted to pop in on this beautiful Sunday afternoon to share a little about what I've been up too.  Marty and I enjoyed a weekend at the beach before I had breast cancer surgery and took advantage of the time I had in between so many doctor appointments and testing. It was sure a good little getaway.  We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary in September. WOW! Just babies! LOL! We were high school sweethearts. Started dating at age 16. Married at age 18 and started a family at age 20.  We celebrated Marty's birthday in October. He says that he's feeling his age these days. LOL! He still works 4 days a week and has a long commu...

{Tried and True with a few Reviews}

I hope that you all are having a great day. I'm playing house in my little room. LOL! I've had this teapot for years. It holds a lot of sentimental value for me. A dear friend that lost her battle with cancer years ago gifted me this sweet teapot.  She was our former Church Secretary and a lady of grace and dignity. It was a pretty bronze color when she gifted it to me but over the years the color faded. The last few years it has sit on my front porch on a tea cart. I decided it would be perfect in my new room with shades of gray and red. Amazing what a fresh coat of paint will do.

 I must show you my new shoes that I purchased from a friend that sells Avon. I just love them. Don't you?

 I love it when others share things that they like or things they have found helpful. Most of you know I do love me some lipstick and I always have a tube of some kind of lipstick. Matter of fact I keep this pouch in my purse.

 A friend that knows my Lipstick addiction gave me this cute little bag. Just recently after my husband cleaned out my car he said, "Do you know how many tubes of lipstick you have in that little cubby hole in your car? LOL! I said oh yes, I do. Then he laughed when I showed him the tubes in my purse, tucked inside my Bible for church, in the bathroom, in the glove compartment in car, and yes, even in my little room! LOL!

You never know when you might need a little dental floss, mints, money and lipstick! Right?

Speaking of lipstick or any kind of cosmetics I am not one that uses a particular brand. If I like it, I buy it. I use all different types of brands of makeup. However my skin is so sensitive that I do have to be careful when it comes to things for the face or eyes. For makeups that REALLY work for me, yes, I stick with it! Like facial cleaner. I've used Cetaphil for years as it has been tried and true for me! But let's get back to the lipstick. I found two new colors that I really like and both are all day lipsticks!

This was a new color that Loreal came out with. The number on it says 207. One end is the lipstick and other end is gloss. The pros for me: The color is so very pretty. It stays on all day! And when I say all day for me that is a PLUS! The first time I used it I put it on at 7:30 am and at 9:30 pm I had to scrub it off. The cons for me: I found myself using the gloss several times during the day as my lips felt too dry. Oh, and you most definitely need to exfoliate your lips as they will not feel smooth with any lipstick but especially long lasting lipsticks.
I usually buy makeup products from Walgreen's when they have a sale. Like, buy one and get one 50% off. I watch for the sale ads. This particular one cost around $13 but I got a buy one and get another product half off which I will share about it maybe next week.

My latest favorite is this pretty color called Stellar Sunrise by Revlon

I like the way this lipstick feels as it has the gloss in it so it's one application and not two. The pros for me: Has a gloss shine to it in one application. Pretty color. Stayed on all day. Cons for me: Stayed on all day and though it advertised for either 16-or 24 hours (I can't remember) I did find myself having to reapply. I also purchased this at Walgreen's. The cost was around $12 but they had this one on sale for $6.
I like both but I think If I had to pick which one would be my favorite I would go with the Revlon. I just liked the way it felt better.

Speaking of makeup I always seem to drop makeup, smear makeup or somehow I get makeup on my bathroom counter when putting on my makeup. So, I keep a container of wet wipes under my counter and they really serve as two purposes for me. 1: I can use one to wipe makeup off my fingers. 2: When I am through with using my makeup I wipe down my counter. It sure keeps clean ups a breeze by doing it that way. It doesn't matter to me what kind of wipes either. If I see some cheap ones, I grab them. If I see some name brand on sale, I grab them. Sure makes my makeup mishaps easier to clean up.

Love these little Breakfast flats. You can get different kinds and I usually buy the different kinds but this is one of my favorites. I am not a breakfast eater. Well, if I wait till around 10 or 10:30 am then yes, I can sit down and eat a full breakfast but for me that is not always doable. So, these make for a good little breakfast for me with my coffee while driving to work or an easy grab for me around 9:30 or so. My man eats a big breakfast on Saturdays usually but through the week with his long hours this works great for him too as he is driving to work and he adds a piece of fruit and he has a healthy little breakfast.

Sometimes I like this on a piece of toast.

A friend of mine told me about both of these products. I am a Peter Pan gal but decided to give the peanut butter a try. They both taste good and sure makes a plain piece of toast taste lots better or a great peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a glass of milk! Both can be purchased at Walmart.

Now to dry out some sage from my little herb garden........

And then to carry a friend a small gift. Her on little "pool party" necessities.

I hope that you all enjoy the day that the Lord has given you.  Remember, take a little time out of the busyness of life to show a little kindness to another.

Hugs and blessings, Cindy

But, I'm trying some out right that I hope to share next week. My eye lids are so sensitive that sometimes I've bought eyeshadows only to give them away . Will share next week sweet lady . .

  4. Does Mr. Marty have issues with your lipstick? I ask because not long after we got married, Jack made fun of me looking in the mirror and had a negative comment about me wearing lipstick...that was 40 years ago and to this day, it bothers me to put on lipstick in the car mirror when he's driving. :( Oh, well, enough about my personal problems!!! LOL I usually buy cheap Cover Girl lipstick ($5/tube) and only put it on if I'm leaving the house, which is less and less these days! Love how you're enjoying your little room so much....still haven't sprung it on Jack that mine will be getting a makeover next winter! ;-)

    1. LOL Deb. Marty would think I was sick if I didn't have on lipstick. Of course there are days I don't wear any, like when I'm home and not going anywhere. He knows how I am bout my lip painting. My granny was the same way though. She was going to have on that lipstick no matter what. Even when she became legally blind she would still try to put it on. OH LAWD! My mother never has liked lipstick. And my grandgirl that is 6 is just like me. She loves her some lipstick. Tell Jack that he best go along with your room makeover or you are going to start painting his lips. Ha!

  5. Love the teapot all dressed up with pretty flowers. I don't wear as much makeup as I in the past, but I always have my eyebrows on and my lipstick ready!! Like Deb, I don't wear lipstick unless I'm going some where, just not worth the effort to put in on if I'm staying home. I really don't think Mr D even notices.

  8. I don't think I've worn a scrap of make-up since my wedding day twenty years ago and even on that day it was just a slick of nude lipstick! It's funny though as whilst I don't wear pink or do 'girly' but my teenage daughter loves it all!
    The teapot looks great with its smart new paint job and such a beautiful link to what was clearly a very dear friend xx

    1. If I had pretty skin I wouldn't wear anything Josie. LOL! But as luck would have it, I have dry, patchy skin that requires HELP! So funny about makeup though. I had a lady tell me once that worked in the cosmetic field and this was years ago, but she said if you don't have time for nothing else put that lipstick on,eye liner and mascara. But dang, If I'm going to do all that I might as well put it all on! Ha!

    Darling little teapot too!

  10. For makeup and cleansers---I use Clinique. My German sil turned me on to one of the finer things in life, lol...which is very expensive. I also have sensitive skin and those ladies (sorry girls) at the counter really knew their stuff. I will never go back to the less expensive makeup/cleansers...anyways, my favorite lipstick is by Clinique and its called Love Pop, more like a berry color.

    I always enjoy your posts and more than happy to discuss girlie things, lolol. Have a beautiful day friend.

  19. Your post made me smile and even laugh, it is fun how you share the details and little things! It`s true, the Lord gives us so much in each day, and even or especially the `little` things, all is Provision from Him!! As I am smiling I am reminded that He gave us our lips and when we smile and accent our smiles with some pretty red, it must be pleasing from Heaven too as we acknowlege Him with thanks... I just saw it that way, from your post!! I just started wearing lipstick recently, sometimes gloss only and sometimes a pretty red over the gloss! I just went to check what my color is, but the print is so small and in Japanese I can`t read it! Brand is naturaglace, made in Japan. Thanks and a big smile , lol!!

I use a facial wash that also comes in wipes so I got some and used them on our two recent trips with our home-away-from-home. They work great - especially when we're camping somewhere in the woods and need to conserve water and all of our resources. And they spiff up the bathroom sink real nice when I'm finished with my face!

Hiding the Ugly Hot Water Heater

 I shared that I wanted to hide my ugly hot water heater in my laundry room with you a few weeks ago. It just stuck out like a sore thumb. But after all it is a hot water heater right? So my man took a piece of wood (not real wood) but it worked and built a frame for me. So now to see if it would fit and it did. I painted it white and did not like the texture it had even after two coats of white. (rule of thumb...you get what you pay for and the wood was cheap) But I wasn't going to let it whip me!  Found some contact paper at Walmart in the gray and white. Covered the front with the contact paper and loved the look. The top was covered with a piece of painted wood as well and worked perfect to place this on top... And this.... Added a clothes basket in the corner and here was the top.... Yep, no longer an eye sore to me! Went perfect with my gray walls and gray and white floor. Remember the wood tray I bought at a...

{SON-Flowers}

Don't you just love sunflowers? When I think about sunflowers I think of two things. My motherinlove who loved sunflowers and Fall. I came across a devotional written by Julia Bettencourt on sunflowers and thought it so appropriate for today as I wanted to share my sunflowers with you. Here's a few lessons we can learn from the sunflower.    Sunflowers Track The Sun.   Most plants are attracted to light but the flowering head of the sunflower actually tracks the sun following it's path and moving toward where it is in the sky all during the day. I read somewhere that sunflowers track the sun when they are in bud stage. Isn't that how it usually goes for us as Christians? When we first come to know the Lord, we get excited about knowing all about Him and living for Him, but after awhile we sometimes grow a little preoccupied with other things and get our eyes off of the Lord.   Wouldn't it be great if as a Christian we'd track th...
